3 words to describe my partner

The officiant we are using asked FI and I each to come up with three words to describe the other... separately.  I need some opinions on the words I chose.

1. Inspiring
2. Rare
3. Passionate

I know you all don't know me, and don't know my FI, but do these words seem weird to describe a partner?  I'm having such a hard time with this.  I could write a ten page essay describing her, but I can't do 3 words... It's too restricting!!!

thoughts?

Re: 3 words to describe my partner

  • Rare is weird. Everyone is rare if you think about it.

  • "Rare" seems kind of... off to me. She's not a tropical plant.

okay. Good.  Thanks, this is what I needed to hear... I wasn't sure what I thought about it.

What about passionate?  Does it come across as too sexual?

No, a person can be passionate about a lot of things.

That's what I was going for, she's passionate about family and living life.

This is hard though. Everything I think of seems too cliche or too serious or something.  I just feel so much pressure about it.
  • Enthusiastic, intense, spirited?

  • Is it bad that I'm googling this?

@lolo883 and @lyndausvi, those are good ones.
  • Maybe make a long list? Then pick the best ones out of the list? I find those words a little weird but that's because I view V differently. Like if I had to describe V in three words, it would be thoughtful, witty, and honest. But I feel like the words you picked to describe your FI are good!

  • I would describe my H as dedicated, playful, and ambitious.

This is a really good idea.  I've heard of suggestions to make lists of 100 things or some ridiculous number so you aren't editing yourself, just letting everything onto the page to fill up that impossible number.  Then when you really can't think of any more, cull down.  This was about "bucket list" type of things to do, but I think it works for this scenario too.

Ahhhh... That's definately what I should be doing!  thanks for the help!
  • Amazing is my go to for DH. Cos really, I don't know why he puts up with me and my shit, so he's amazing for that.  And we used to "call" each other Perfect for Me.

I would just start making a list and pick out the ones you like best. If I had to do this about my husband, I would say:

    Loving
    Kind
    Passionate
    Hard working
    Witty
    Empathetic
    Confident
    Committed
    Trustworthy
    Respectful
  • I'd have to say Brave, Confident, Playful.

  • I agree that "rare" is weird.

I describe DH as compassionate, hard working, and playful.

  • Hard working, positive, and practical.

He always talks me into realistic settings. I wanted a mustang for forever, but that's not realistic to use every day in Chicago (winters) and we need a good down payment before I even think about a race car.

emmaaa I'm listening to Cotton Eyed Joe at work and your gif matches the beat pretty well. It's making me happy.

  • Rare....I could make a pink in the middle joke right now, but I'm classy lady so I'm not gonna. Also I haven't had enough coffee to be funny yet.

I asked my wife last night to describe me in three words she said, loyal, smart, weird. Rare might be better then weird.

I actually like weird. FI describes me as "quirky"

An officiant we met with actually asked us this question on the spot. I said Funny, Smart, and wow I can't remember the third one. The word was along the lines of understanding and helpful, and being there for me? Supportive maybe?

For me he said Passionate, Energetic, and once again I forgot the third one! Sensitive maybe?

Hahaha... my mom tries to describe herself as quirky... every time we call her crazy. :)

  • This is kind of fun!

FI is curious, energetic, and loyal...among other things...I feel you on only being able to pick 3!

  • Positive, industrious, and fun-loving.

  • I could make a list for days on one-words.

Put on the spot, I'd go for goofy, comfy and caring. But give me a week and I'll give you back a legal pad full.

  • I'd probably go with thoughtful, loving, and funny. Although now that I've said that I'm second-guessing my answers. But those are probably the things I appreciate most about FI.

  • I'd describe N in three words as goofy, compassionate and loving. I'd ask him how he would describe me but he took one of his pain meds for his back and they make him incredibly loopy. Dude can't walk a straight line at the moment. Lol maybe another time.

  • So i went with the suggestion of making a long list without editing myself, came up with close to 60 words.   In the end, I'm going to go with

    passionate, thoughtful, and entertaining.

    Thanks for all the help!
  • A bit late to this thread but how about unique instead of rare?
