Happy Friday! Weekend Plans?

This week felt like it was never going to end. So glad it's Friday!

Tonight, DH and I are just going to hang out at the house. I'll probably start cleaning and doing laundry so I don't have to do as much tomorrow. We'll probably have the NCAA Tournament on in background.

Tomorrow, as usual, is cleaning day. I want to go see my dad since I haven't seen him in a while. It's supposed to be nice out so I may wash his car and mine too. That night we're going to a friend's house to watch the NC State game with everyone and may watch some of the Carolina game too.

Sunday is for church and resting. We'll probably go see the ILs.

What do y'all have planned?

It seems to do that as you get closer! good luck...

  • Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend!

Tonight H and I have a wedding to go to. Ceremony is at 5 so I have to leave work at 3 to race home, change and bring the dog to my in-laws for a play date.

We also have a wine tasting event we're going to this weekend but not sure which day yet. It's an event with 17 different wineries and each one will have bacon-inspired foods and 4 wines to taste. We obviously can't hit all 17 but we've picked out a handful to check out. I'm going to stuff my face full of bacon and drink wine - can't think of a better way to spend a weekend!

We're also getting brunch tomorrow at some point with my girlfriends and their SOs, which should be fun.

  • I agree this week had been sooo long. I had an interview yesterday, it didn't go well.  So I ready for this week to be over

H got a huge bonus today so we will be celebrating! And then putting all the money into our savings account.

Tomorrow we are going to a wedding with a 4 hour gap. Not super excited abut that one.

Sunday I am having brunch with girlfriends!

  • DH will be in TX, so I have the weekend to myself. Since I was in TX last weekend, I will be cleaning and running some errands to catch up. I also have to take my little kitty to the vet because he's having urinary tract issues. But, I'm also going to have some fun and spend a lot of time outdoors, either walking or working on my tan! It's going to be in the mid 80s and sunny!

  • It's gonna be gorgeous here this weekend!

Tonight FI and I have the house to ourselves, so that'll be nice.

My cat is relapsing again - she starting pacing and circling again last night.  Her tooth surgery isn't for 2 more weeks, so I think the infection's trying to get up into her brain again.  FI is taking her in today to get that 2-week antibiotic shot to try and head this off before she gets bad again and so we don't have to try and force-feed her liquid meds twice a day again and stress her out.

Tomorrow we have a birthday lunch for my grandma, then we're going to the Maroon 5 concert.

Sunday I don't think we have anything planned, so I might do some wedding crafty-type stuff.

  • Sounds relaxing!

Some of SO's friends are in town staying with us for the weekend so I'm sure the apartment will resemble a frat house- guess I know what I'll be doing Sunday! It should be a good weekend though, we'll probably go out tonight and tomorrow to show them a good time.

I'm also catching up with some old friends over brunch, so yay! And I need to shop for a bunch of miscellaneous stuff- workout clothes, work shoes, a new bike lock and helmet so I can bike to work, etc. I haate shopping.

  • FI is driving up tonight. Friends and sports are set to consume our weekend. We've got plans with my neighbor and her new BF Saturday. Sunday, our friend (who is also a BM) is coming with her GF too. Now if the weather cooperates this should be a really fun weekend. Oh, and NO wedding planning! I put it all away for the weekend.

That wine tasting event sounds amazing!

It's been a long week for DH, so we're having a very low-key weekend. Tomorrow we're going to a friends' for game night. Sunday afternoon we might go beer or wine tasting. If the weather's nice, we'll probably go for a nice walk down to Lake Michigan.

  • After work I have to get my oil changed. While that's being done I'll probably walk over to the mall to buy some new shoes. A lot of mine are falling apart. Haven't decided if I feel like cooking tonight or not. If not, FI and I will probably order some Indian. Yum yum yum!

Tomorrow morning I'm volunteering at a local reading festival, which coincidentally FI just got asked to cover for some overtime. He'll have to be there way before me though. After I'm done we don't have any solid plans, but we'll probably work on our Save the Dates.

Sunday two of FI's aunts are coming in to town, so we'll drive up to see them and the rest of FI's fam. I'm not sure if I've met these two before. I guess I'll find out!

  • We just got back from vacation Tuesday, so the weekend is dedicated to post-vacation house cleaning and working on some wedding details.*

*In reality, this probably means napping most of the weekend.

KatWAG.  But congrats on H's bonus!

H and I are going to see Cinderella tomorrow night with some friends.  I've heard nothing but awesome things about the movie, so I'm excited!  Otherwise, we'll be helping out at church tomorrow and will probably be getting some laundry done.

ETA:  I have a good friend (I grew up with him and his family) who was shot in December.  He's home now and is recovering, so I hope he's up for a visitor.  If so, I'll go see him on Sunday and hope I don't cry.
  • I want to FINALLY finish and mail out the invitations this weekend. We should receive our sample for the table numbers today, so maybe get those ordered  along with the menu. And I think I want to start working on the program, even though I have NO idea how to do that...

So tonight I am just gonna go to the gym, and maybe FI and I can have a date night. Tomorrow, no plans. Just wedding stuff I guess. Sunday, I signed up for a bootcamp class with my bridesmaid (lil pinkcow, if any of you read my story yesterday) in BK. That should be fun... apparently it is with some celebrity trainer or something. Lita Lewis? Shrug, it just sounded fun. Then we're gonna go to brunch and catch up on things. Afterwards, I am planning on going to a salsa class. I think 2 months before the wedding is plenty of time to freaking learn to dance salsa.

We got a little dump of snow last night, so FI and I are going to ski Sunday for sure.

Tonight, we're going to a 30th birthday party with a catered taco bar (...right?!)

Tomorrow, I have to get an oil change and go get a big rock chip in my windshield fix before it cracks. It's only the size of a loonie right now but it's got these scary spidery bits emanating from it so I can tell it's gonna get worse and we'd like to sell my car this year, so...

And we're going for fancy Italian pizza with his dad and stepmom tomorrow night, then he's going to a hockey game with his dad (even though the Oilers are just depressing at this point, lol.)

And FI and I have to maybe look at real estate listings, I guess. He seems to think that we should buy a house and not rent again when our lease is up in July. Just thinking about it is practically giving me a heart attack so I'm trying not to think about it too much. I'm kind of hoping he'll just do it all and I can just, like...sign the papers and pack our stuff. Even sitting here typing this is making my heart race and my breath get all funny. House prices are crazy expensive here and I don't think we're going to get something that fits our (pretty modest) wants under $400,000. We are hoping for a 1950s bungalow near public transit, not out in the suburbs, with a basement suite with the plumbing, wiring, and roof in decent shape, and that's all (I don't care how dated it is as long as we're not going to have to do huge structural repairs...slapping on some paint and ripping up floors is fine but I'm not willing to have the stupid thing rewired.) But I'm not sure if we have a snowball's chance in hell of finding something.

  • Working out and running errands after work.  FI is having his guys NCAA afternoon which means he will be drunk and annoying when I get home, so I am conveniently doing errands and stuff!

Dress alterations appointment tomorrow.  Between holidays, vacation w/ lots of drinking, and lots of stress lately I've gained some weight so I'm a bit scared to see how this goes. Fortunately the dress had some room to grow but I'm still scared.

Sunday should be invitation prep day.  For some reason our venue wanted a count almost a month ahead (which seems weird when I think about it since they are pretty laid back and all of the stuff like chairs, linens, etc are already on site) so they need to go out soon.

I'm amazed by home prices in Canada when I watch Love it or List It and some other show that isn't on anymore (Property Virgins maybe?).  I know there are expensive markets in the US too but it all seems expensive up there!

Yeah, and I don't even live in Vancouver or Toronto or Montreal. It's ridiculous.

In my city you can get a one-bed, one-bath condo in the sketchiest part of town for $150,000, and you can get a brand-new 2-bed/bath row townhouse an hour from city centre for $300,000. That's about as cheap as you can go. It's insane. I lived in a duplex with a basement suite near the university campus when I was in school that eventually sold for $800,000. A duplex. Built in the 80s. With lino and pink carpet and black appliances and a single-car garage. It was crazy.

  • FI and I have been trying to eat healthier and get outside more. So to reward ourselves for our hard work we are having delicious delicious all the toppings Nachos for supper.

Saturday I plan on sleeping in and lounging around in bed all morning. I've been oddly exhausted all week so I need some relaxing time.

Probably should do some wedding stuff. Every weekend I say I am going to and then I never do.

  • I was supposed to have a girls' night on Saturday but it got canceled, so I'm going to a college/work friend's housewarming party instead. Kinda bummed to go alone, since when H thought I was hanging out with the girls he made plans to have the guys over. Oh well. Boy Scouts Blue and Gold banquet for the bitty BIL on Sunday, which he's super stoked for us to attend. Besides that, getting the house ready to GTFO!

Oh man is it ever insane! It's crazy how much cheaper and bigger things are the further out you go, which sucks. I'm in Toronto and if we were to buy our place (1 bed plus den) it would be a minimum of $700,000. Grrr.

  • I'm just excited that it's likely I won't have to work this weekend, for the first time since January.

Fi and I were going to have a gym date tonight at the new Equinox that opened up near WTC (any NY Knotties tried it yet?) but now that there's going to be snow, we may work out at home instead.

Tomorrow is mostly wedding stuff: we're having our floral trial, then we're taking a private dance lesson.  We also need to pick and book a videographer.  Should be fun.

Sunday we are going to try a new church in the morning.  I am trying not to get my hopes up but I really want it to work out.  Then we are having boozy brunch with Cookie Pusher and Mr. Cookie!  I can't wait.

  • Tonight, we'll be eating leftover Irish food from earlier in the week (Guinness-braised lamb chops, corned beef, colcannon, whiskey-glazed carrots, soda bread) and watching crappy TV while I cross-stitch.

Tomorrow is RUN ALL THE ERRANDS day before we go to a dinner for a volunteer group DH belongs to. The food is usually pretty good, but we're the youngest people in the room by a good decade or two.

Sunday, we're hopefully going to have brunch with friends before spending the rest of the day doing laundry and cleaning up our mess of an apartment.

Wow!  are you in a location in Toronto that makes it more expensive or is it pretty much that way across the board

  • Tonight, mexican food.

Tomorrow, girl's night, followed by brunch on Sunday.

    THEN.....................................

I'm off work on Monday!  3 day weekend!!

  • Tonight my BFF is coming over, we are going to order pizza and we are gonna go visit our other friend in her new house. We were supposed to have a sleepover and watch Romy & Michele with a different friend but he broke his leg yesterday :( I feel bad for him.

Tomorrow I have a bridal shower for my other BFF! Very excited for that. Then, tomorrow night my friend and I are doing our mother/daughter dinner with our moms in the city and we are going to one of our favorite restaurants so I 'm really looking forward to it.

Sunday I have ZERO plans. FI works all weekend. I want to do a lot around the house (cleaning the office, getting some things ready for a garage sale, etc) but I know once Sunday comes around I will want to go out and do something so we'll see!

From what I've seen, it seems pretty common if you're close to downtown/the public transit system unfortunately, especially for the newer buildings :(

I think you can find cheaper ones in the 450,000-600,000 range but the square footage is much smaller. That being said, I haven't extensively looked into it because I'm not looking to buy right now, so maybe there are cheaper options...hopefully!
