I procrastinated on buying a gift for a shower this weekend, so now I have to go to Babies R Us and get something that's left on the registry. I'd rather give an actual gift than cash. I'm torn between getting one bigger item off of her registry or getting a bunch of little ones. What would you rather get as a new mom?
- $100 play gym
- $100 worth of breast feeding accessories (bottle warmer, cover, bottles, etc)
I'm leaning towards the feeding stuff because it seems like no one ever buys the practical gifts. And what do I know... maybe a play gym is just as practical as feeding stuff. What do you think?
Re: NWR: Baby shower gift help
If those items are on the registry then just get either or. If the parents find that they really need either item after the baby shower then they can just go and purchase it or exchange one of the gifts they received for what they really need. My SO and I ended up making a few exchanges and purchases after the shower so you really can't go wrong either way.
I always try to get the fun stuff, but then so does everyone else. The feeding stuff seems to be things people don't always get at the shower since they aren't as fun "ohhhhh breast pump, how adoable!!" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as itty bitty outfit or stuffed animals but if she registered for it I bet she wants it so that would be a great gift. At a shower last year we all pitched in to get things from the registry and the shopper made sure and got that stuff bc the mom to be had mentioned how she didn't think anyone would buy that stuff since it wasn't "fun"
Here's a Babies R Us coupon for 15% off one regular priced item - if the gym qualified for the discount that would be nice. Or if one of the feeding items is higher end. Bonus point to get your SO to also print the coupon and use it on more than one item
