Re: Tired Tuesday

  • @lilacck28 oh my I was such a bad substitute lol.  I'm glad you did well :)  I'm a much better teacher, though! And I really do appreciate subs that actually teach :)  So kudos to you! I hope you feel better soon!

    I just booked my flight to Austin next month for a conference, which is exciting. Hopefully I can sneak in dinner or something with some of my friends and family down there.

    I'm going to a conference in Austin in May!!!

  • @southerpeach89 your little bump is so cute! Yeah I get weirded out by chicken too. Raw chicken is so gross to me and I'm always convinced it might be bad even when it's fresh so I'm always smelling it lol.
    My mom loves her steak medium rare but when she was pregnant with me the sight of it made her gag and she had to eat it well done. She ate A LOT of pizza while pregnant with me so I think that's why I don't like much else.

    @allusive007 I've always been obsessed with names and there's so many girl names I've loved over the years. I've always imagined myself having a girl first too. When FI and I talk about potential future baby names we can usually agree on some girl ones but NEVER on boy ones. So I feel like if we do have kids the first one will be a boy and we'll have a war over the name. I told him I get the final say on names if it's coming out of my body.

  • @nycgal85 I'll be there in April, so we'll miss each other. :( I lived in Austin for about 5 years though, and it's such a great city! If you want, PM me your hotel info, and I can give you suggestions for restaurants and bars nearby.

  • @eilis1228 besides the fact that prescription sharing is ya know, illegal (or at least frowned upon)...why do you think allergy meds would make your FI better?  I think good ol' rest, fluids, and maybe an over the counter decongestant are just fine :)

    Truth be told, I "prescribe" benadryl for every ailment, though, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me.  Also, my doc told me I have an allergy on my butt yesterday.  I legitimately am filling an allergy cream for my butt right now :/ lol

    I always have butt issues...

    OH and my car is fixed (phew) - H's is going into the shop around lunchtime and hopefully they will be like "oh yea no it's all in your head" or "shit we forgot to connect that super important part and will give you a brand new CAR!" For some reason, i don't think option #2 is possible.

    @speakeasy14 - I read an interview with Marlene King last night and in it she referred to A by gender and I started freaking out and texting @GoldenPenguin immediately. I seriously feel like it could be anyone. I can't wait. That bag is ADORABLE!

    I saw that too!!! I immediately texted my best friend freaking out.

  • @blue He was complaining about a sore-ish throat, so I'm hoping it's just due to his allergies being overactive. I gave him Allegra (OTC) and Singulair (prescription) to see if that helps.

  • @Swazzle - I don't think there is any other sweatshirt that belongs on your body more..... Regarding that recipe, I've made something similar with a turkey roast, and it was INCREDIBLE! BF doesn't like pork chops either, which is really disappointing because I finally learned how to cook them perfectly!

    @untouchablets - I financed with Ford for my car first, and they took 1000 bucks off the price. When you find a dealership to buy from, you might want to see if they are running any specials like that. I went back and refinanced later with a credit union for a lower interest rate.

    @CocoBellaF - We're about to start planting too! Kale is so robust in this area. It grows from March all the way until August/September.

    @cu97tiger - Happy anniversary!

    -------------------------------------------

    Today I invited everyone on my floor at work to go to happy hour. It looks like we'll get a good chunk to come. I'm so glad I at least have that to look forward to.

    In other news, I spent all day yesterday trying to get ahold of someone at a laser hair removal center to try and figure out costs and make an appointment. No one ever answered, so I finally left a message, and no one has called me back yet today. That's really irritating. I want to go to this specific place because the reviews online are absolutely fantastic, and I'm glad to know that I can make appointments through their online system and not have to deal with this phone call BS. But I don't even know how much time to schedule! And I think I'm supposed to schedule a consultation first? If they answered the damn phone I'd know this crap! Has anyone else had it done? How long did your sessions take, and for what size of body part?

  • @nycgal85 - which conference? I'm always curious since I work in conferences/tradeshows whether it's one of my company's shows!

  • I am SO tired. I still haven't recovered from Saturday night. I'm too old for these shenanigans!!

    I had a dream about PLL last night & in it, A was Aria's mom! It was SO intense!! I'm so excited/nervous/etc. about tonight, and I'm so glad that I can FT with @swazzle so I don't have to do it alone!

    Happy anniversary @cu97tiger!

    @southernpeach89 - you are so cute!!

    @speakeasy14 - see, I read that there were clues to A from the very first season! I can't wait.

  • Hey ladies!

    Super busy at work yesterday, I missed you all!

    Weekend: FI's show went well, they sounded great and he was really excited. And adorable. Not to adorable was the fact that we didn't get to bed until almost 4. Saturday we had breakfast with my sister and her BF, and then headed home and I went to get my hair colour fixed (much happier now). Super lazy Saturday night, which we both needed. Sunday was church, ran a couple errands and then back to church. Nothing exciting!

    Yesterday was FI's nephew's second birthday...I think a switch has finally flipped for that kid and he is no longer totally freaked out by me. It's a really nice change! So we had a family dinner last night and presents and cake and I got to snuggle the other nephew.

    Lots of wedding stuff going on at the moment. I'm meeting my mom for lunch in a bit since she's bringing RSVPs to me, we have to make the second payment to our venue tomorrow, I think I'm going for a dress fitting tomorrow, and I should probably look at my to-do list for the million other things I need to take care of.

    I promise I read other posts, I will reply later!

  • @eilis1228 - We do have a couple names we're considering: Aubrey, Hailey and Morgan. I've said for YEARS that if I ever had a daughter she would be named Aubrey (to the point where I think my girlfriends would be SHOCKED if we had a girl and she wasn't named Aubrey). Silly me though, now i'm waivering. H likes Aubrey, but also threw Hailey and Morgan into the hat. I like both, but we haven't found middle names for any of them.
  • @allusive007 Oh I love Aubrey! What about Aubrey Morgan?

  • @swazzle - love the sweatshirt! ive seen one on pinterest that says "all i need is caffeine and masacara"....i need it.

    @dignity100 - good for you for going bold with shellac. i always go neutral bc im terrified of getting a color i hate and being stuck with it for 2 weeks. speaking of....how long does yours last?

    @untouchablets - good luck with exams and car shopping! glad you got a good rate!

    @cocobellaf - stay safe!

    @twodimes - i feel you on the home decor. i really despise home decorating past the big pieces like furniture and rugs......i have nothing hanging on my walls. oops!

    @nycgal85 - i hear you on the argument. BF and i had one of those nights last night where we were just not on the same page. i think he was bored/lonely from being home alone all day (he works nights/weekends and was off yesterday) whereas i was drained from day 1 of a new job. i wanted to veg on the couch and zone out and he wanted to interact. cue bickering about ridiculous crap.

    @cu97tiger - happy 3rd anniversary!

    @southernpeach89 - adorable baby baby bump!

    @lilacck28 - happy -2 month anniversary!

    @swazzle - dont feel bad about pork chops...i like pork chops but detest pork tenderloin....go figure.

    @eilis28 - gorgeous quilt!! i dont think id have the patience for that. my sister has been working on a queen size quilt since in 2006....of course in that time she has also done medical school and residency, so she sometimes goes months without touching it. i give lots of credit to people who can do crafty stuff. i stick with paint your own pottery.

    2nd day on the new job for me. so far its.....slow. i guess thats better than being thrown in a shit storm....but im hoping it picks up soon. i prefer being busy to being bored....

  • @swazzle I love that sweatshirt. I might need to wear it to the sh*tshow of a wedding coming up in September (or at least prior to so that FI and I both have a good laugh).

    @cocobellaf stay safe!

    @cu97tiger Happy Anniversary!

    Today is a slightly less busy day for me. I at least have enough of a break to wake up, finish my coffee, and browse TK. FI and I had a late evening last night catching up on TV that we didn't watch last week and eating leftover pizza (we ordered it while FBIL and their friend was over on Sunday).

    Tonight we need to go pick up FI's motorcycle hopefully from the shop. I didn't get a chance to tell you guys, but we went to drop it off for routine service on Friday evening, and FI was following me since I had the GPS and we had never been to this shop before. We pulled into the parking lot and I heard this awful dragging noise. I thought I had run over something and was worried I had kicked it up behind me. I looked in my rear view mirror and didn't see FI. I put the car in park and hit the flashers, and when I got out of the car I saw FI lying on his back and his bike on the ground. There was about an inch of gravel on the road near the entrance to the lot, and the front tire locked up as soon as FI drove over it, and FI went over the handlebars. Fortunately he was at a low speed when it happened, and only had very minor injuries because he had his gear on too (a few scratches and a sprained ankle). The bike wasn't so lucky. It was leaking coolant, the mirror was bent, and the signal lights were broken. We joked after that it was definitely the best place to crash for the first time since we were going to the shop anyways. We lifted the bike up together and pushed it the 100 yards or so to the shop. Anyways, we should hear today if there was any more serious damage.

    After that, we will go home, and I plan to make a Guinness Irish Stew and some Soda Bread. We were so busy last week that I didn't have time to make any Irish food, and I have been craving it, so I am making it tonight.

    Oh, and I know I said yesterday that we booked our officiant, but wanted to give a few more details (and ask for some advice!). One of FI's family friends has been officiating weddings during his retirement, and we decided to go with him since he had known FI since he was little. He is giving his services to us for free, as long as we make a donation similar to his normal fee ($450) to a breast cancer research charity in FMIL's name (she is a survivor and her hair is just starting to grow back). FI and I were both very grateful for this, but we would like to do something else for him as well. What do you ladies think would be appropriate? I was thinking maybe a gift card to a nice restaurant with enough to cover an appetizer, dinner, wine, and dessert for two, but would like opinions!

    I LOVEEEEE Aubrey. My mom actually told me that another name she was considering for me was Aubrey :)

    That's how I fell in love with the name! Apparently it was my great great grandfather's name (used to be a male name) and she wanted to name me Aubrey but my dad didn't like it.

    @eilis1228 - I suggested Aubrey Morgan actually, but H wasn't a fan...  :-(

  • @allusive007 Oh I love the story behind Aubrey for your family! That is so sweet!

  • Hi ladies! It's been a while, but it's nice to see many familiar faces around here!!!

    I'm exhausted too, coming back from a 10 day vacation, right into a busy week for work. I'm ready for a nap now!

    I'm going to go back and try to catch up on everything that I have missed, which I am sure will be a huge project, but I'm glad to be back!

    I think any kind of 'thank you' or 'appreciation' gift would be fine. If he's coming to the rehearsal dinner, I would give it to him there, like you do with your bridesmaids/groomsman/parent gifts.

    allusive007 hmm does your first or middle name flow with Aubrey, Hailey, or Morgan?  Other (because its the end of the day and I typed either) ideas: Grace, Mae, Rose

  • @swazzle I'm having issues with TK too.  I keep randomly getting logged out while I'm on the page and don't find out until I click my notifications or type a response, I get an error message.

  • @allusive007 - I like the name Aubrey best out of the ones you listed too.  Haley/Hailey/Hayley has a lot of spelling variations - and it's become super popular.

    @jenjen047 - The shellac usually lasts for 2 weeks but I've had it peel on me before (it would last for longer, but I don't like the 'gap' from where the nail grows out).  We have a manicurist that comes to the office 2 times a week, so if I plan on getting shellac, I make both appointments at the same time.  With the lime-green color, when I got it, I told her that I was afraid I was going to hate it and her answer was 'just paint over it' - so if you want to go bold and are afraid to, you can always 'just paint over it'.  I was actually proud of myself sticking with a unique color, though H and called it 'nose goblin green' once I admitted I wasn't a fan of the color.
