April Fools - Wednesday

Happy April 1st everybody!!

Last night our Broadway theater season was announced:
Bullets over Broadway
A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder
If / Then
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Matilda
Steel Magnolias
Phantom of the Opera

It's an OK schedule... I guess.  I was really hoping that Aladdin would go on tour.  I was even looking up tickets and thinking 'hmm, we can just go to NY and see it on Broadway'.

That's really all that's going on here.

Anybody got any good office April Fool's pranks? :)

Re: April Fools - Wednesday

  • @Dignity100 Ahhhh Aladdin would be the best!! Are you going to see any of the other shows?

We made up a trainwreck of a patient to give report on to the incoming shift at work. It was super fun to compose, but we decided not to since day shift was going to be hectic enough without wasting time with a prank. Sometimes being a nurse is no fun.

I survived my first two night shifts in a row! And even thrived. Maybe this is doable.

Today I'm dropping the car off to get a fuck-ton of work done to it, then off to bed for a while. When I get up, I'll continue getting ready to move, and maybe go to a dance class. I haven't been to one in forever and I miss it.
  • @dignity100, ooo, Phantom of the Opera would be fun!

@clogreeneyes, nope, no fun at all. Good luck with the car.

Hmm. Today is looking quieter than the last couple of days - it's been a pain in the ass trying to get everything locked down. Couple of little questions for the reception venue, but they're reasonably simple and FI should be able to call them this morning to hash those out. Got the program in book format, which was also a pain in the ass. Now we need to re-scan the hymns because they look really really bad. Tonight is for laundry and dissertation writing (and this time I mean it). Tomorrow and Friday we have church, so today we need to behave and be productive.
  • @Dignity100 - I have always wanted to see Phantom of the Opera, but never have. I think a trip to NY sounds like a blast!

Yesterday I had my 36 week checkup and unfortunately the baby is still breach. I'm already dilated to 1. My doc says I can choose to either have an inversion at 38 weeks, or schedule a c-section at 39 weeks if the baby doesn't flip on it's own by then. According to the ultrasound there is still enough fluid that my doc thinks it's still possible for the baby to turn. I'm just bummed because i've not heard the best things about inversions and a c-section was the 1 thing we really were hoping to avoid. DH is really nervous about the whole c-section thing and I don't know what to tell him. If it's the best way to have a healthy baby, then that's what we're going to have to do.

Anyway, I'd love some T&P right now. And if anyone has experience with inversions or c-sections...i'm planning to do some research today but would love to hear your thoughts.

  • I LOOOVEEEEE APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!

I really want to prank BF's best friend and tell him that I'm pregnant or something but BF says no because he's afraid of retaliation lol. I'm gonna have to think of something else later for work. I'm closing tonight for the first time in forever which is great cause closing is my fave, and then I'm working with my friend tomorrow where I will finally know whether or not I will be switching jobs. I hate waiting, I really hope it's good news and that I will be able to do it.

@Dignity100 I love Broadway!! If/Then was the only one I've seen from your list but it was AMAZING!
  • @CLoGreenEyes - I will probably renew my subscription, so all those shows come with it.  Usually after the first show they will add on another show that I can get 'discount' tickets for - the add-on show is usually to try and entice more people to subscribe to the series.  No fun that you guys cannot do any pranks at work.

    @allusive007 - Hope baby cooperates!!

I haven't found too many pranks online so far:
    https://com.google/
maps.google.com  - - you can play pac man
amazon.com - the 'welcome' is their old 1999 page

  • @Dignity100 - I've seen Steel Magnolias on Broadway and it was good! Phantom is obviously a classic. My aunt saw Matilda and said it was really good. I haven't seen any of the others though. I really want to see The Lion King.

@allusive007 - I hope the baby flips on his/her own so you don't have to resort to either of the other options. I don't really know anything about that stuff so I have no advice unfortunately. Big hugs!

    *************

No pranks here. I used to get my parents but now it feels kind of silly and I don't really like be pranked myself.

My car ended up needing all four tires replaced last night. SIGH. Cars can be such a pain in the ass.

H and I are going out for our weekly sushi date tonight and I couldn't be more excited! We skipped it last week because there was so much going on and I went away. Spicy tuna roll and salmon and yellowtail sashimi are in my near future :)

Does anyone here watch The Fall? I started it last night while I was home alone which was one of the worst ideas I've ever had because it's creepy as fuck. I really like it so far though!

  • Good morning ladies!

@Dignity100 - I LOVE Phantom.  I'm actually singing a song from it for my aunt's wedding soon (All I Ask Of You).

@Allusive007 - I know that is news you didn't want to hear but C-Sections are pretty common place now.  It will take some more recovery time obviously but my grandmother (with all 9 of her kids) had to have them C-Section, as did my Mom and several of my friends.  My most recent friend was up and about pretty quickly post C-Section and she's in her mid 30s.  All the T&P for you that baby turns around soon.

@KeptInStitches - I don't envy you the dissertation writing.  Good luck!

@CLoGreenEyes - What kind of dance class do you do?

    ------------------------------------------

I'm tired ladies, today is work, work, work.  We have officially one week and one day until our vacation but we are slammed at work so its going to be a race to the finish.  I just need to be somewhere warm with the sound of the ocean and a drink in my hand.  Yesterday was a race it felt like..I spent all day reviewing a deal, sent the information to the client and they told me (after the fact) that they weren't doing the deal for unrelated reasons.  Yeah, that felt productive.

I've got nothing for April's Fool but thanks for the reminder...I'll be on the lookout today since my lack of sleep makes me vunerable.  ;)

  • @allusive007 I don't personally have any experience with that stuff but out of the 7 kids my mom had, six of them were delivered by c-section. We were all too big for her to deliver naturally, so that was the way she had to do it. I remember it being very quick, she would go in and by the end of the day we could see her and the new baby. She was just in the hospital a couple extra days cause because of the incision.

  • @untouchablets - good luck with your job situation!

@Swazzle - sounds like your car played an april fools joke on you :( .  I've never heard of The Fall - what's it about?  Have fun on your date night!!

  • happy april fools!

second the ones @dignity100 posted.....also google "announced" dial up mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTTtkisylQw&noredirect=1

@allusive007 sorry to hear about your checkup....no advice to contribute but sending positive thoughts your way!

had bootcamp last night...butt and legs. i love working these areas the most, but man was it rough! i was sweating my ass off and really dragging by the end. im a little sore today but able to walk normally for the most part. tonight i am going to a tabata class with coworkers. woo!

  • No pranks here!

Last night was crazy.  We had a beautiful day (83 degree high) but then some really loud storms with wind, hail, and lightning/thunder.  Ever since the tornado 2 years ago, Bella gets really scared with storms.  They never used to bother her.  Anyway, we were up with her petting her and helping her feel calmer until the storm passed.  It was a long night.

H made some really hot wings yesterday for dinner.  They were sooooo hot, but really good.  The sauce was from scratch.  I helped him out a little bit, so I knew what was in it:  jalapeno, serranos, onion, garlic, canola oil, butter, apple cider vinegar, honey, lemon juice, peppercorns, ground mustard, cayenne, salt, pepper, tomato paste, water, chile paste, sugar.  It ended up being a lot more complicated than he anticipated (uh, yep) but he had a lot of fun and was really proud of his manly dinner.  I had to chug milk when I was done because my mouth was on fire.  I was crying and my nose was running and my lips were burning but they were so good!

Today is my interview!  I have a really great resume ready plus some examples of my work that are directly related to what they would want me to do over there.  I feel really good about it.  I'm wearing a cute jacket I got at LOFT and I brought some cute shoes (LINK - grey) to change into before I head over there.  My hair cooperated today, so I think all of that is a good sign.  I hope it all goes well!!
  • @Swazzle - Sorry to hear about your car!  :(

@CocoBellaF- Umm, yum.  Those sound amazing.  Good luck with the interview!!

@Jenjen047 - Tabata is a great workout!  Have fun.

  • @cocobellaf - good luck on your interview!!!
  • @Dignity100 - It's a BBC show that's available on Netflix. Jamie Dornan (the 50 Shades of Grey guy) and Gillian Anderson (X-Files) are in it and it's about a serial killer. It's just really creepy (which I love) except I was super freaked out because I was at home alone while watching last night hahaha

  • @untouchablets - I hope you can come up with a better prank than "I'm pregnant... not!"  Surely you can think of something better than that!  Even, "we're adopting a St. Bernard and moving to the Swiss Alps!" is better than a pregnancy joke.  Difficult pregnancies, infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss is such an awful and personal experience and really shouldn't be joked about.  Sorry to get all soap-boxy on you, but...  Well, I guess I'm not that sorry, because I did anyway!

The reason I wanna use that used up joke is because he keeps having dreams that I'm pregnant lol I know it's not REALLY funny, but in context its more about his reaction to his recurring dreams become reality that I'm aiming for. I'm not gonna do it (BF vetoed as I mentioned in my post) so it was just an idea that I had.
  • @Dignity100 that sounds like a pretty good season of shows.  I would be excited for it.

@Allusive007 Sending thought and prayers hoping your baby turns and you can avoid a C section

@Swazzle Boo that sucks about the car :-(  I've always wanted to see Lion King too.  Someday I guess

Not a fan of April Fool's day it's just a bunch of silly pranks.  I'm tired and cranky today and I don't feel like doing any work.  I just want to get to bed already.  I hate when I start a week exhausted and I can't seem to catch up on sleep. I feel like it affects the entire week.

  • @CocoBellaF - I got a flat tire on the highway heading home from work on Monday and while H was changing it (front passenger), I discovered a giant bubble on the rear passenger tire as well. When H took it in to get 2 new tires last night, they discovered giant bubbles on both driver's side tires as well.

  • @allusive007, vibes for baby flipping!

@allusive007 I don't know much about either. Other than one of my friends in college had two C-sections and was able to VBAC for her third and fourth children (have a normal vaginal birth). The way they cut now makes it safer for future pregnancies to proceed normally without a second C-section most of the time. I don't know anything about inversions but it definitely seems something worth researching if it means you can avoid surgery!

@CocoBellaF Good luck with your interview!

@lmcooper86 Please AW your house when it's all done! I can't believe how close your wedding is!

@southernpeach89 Happy Birthday to Maddux!! Cinders says she can't wait to see him on Sunday for their play date! I wish we could celebrate with your big lug too. Maybe we can meet you at the dog park. ;)

I'm so tired today. I was super busy yesterday because it was our end of quarter and I ended up working til close to 10 last night. Luckily my boss gave us all a free half day off on Friday so I'll be able to relax and re-charge then. I'm not sure what our plans are today....I don't even know what we'll do for dinner yet!

  • Thanks for all the support ladies. <3 I know it's going to be ok whatever happens. Mostly I worry about DH. The hospital we'll be delivering in is the hospital his dad passed away in last year. I was really hoping we could avoid anything surgery related. I think associating it all with his dad is probably why he's stressing out. :(

I read a little bit about the version process (Apparently I had it wrong, it's not an "inversion"). Doesn't sound fun at all...in fact it sounds pretty painful. Maybe it would be a good way to avoid a c-section, but I may have to talk to my doctor a bit  more about it.

I couldn't be more happy that my mom is flying in tonight. Perfect timing! I know she'll be a great sounding board with all of this!

  • @Twodimes Yay for 4 months away! I'm pretty sure the venue would normally provide a cake cutting knife but it doesn't hurt to ask.

@TwoDimes Sometimes I can't sleep at night because I'll get something in my head that I'm worried or stressed out about. Sometimes I'm able to fall back asleep but there have been other nights where I've actually woken up, logged in to my computer, and gotten some work done so my brain will finally relax again. It sucks!!

Also, our venue provided a cake knife for us. Easy questions to answer with an email to your coordinator! :)

@Allusive007 - Sending lots of good baby vibes your way!

I'm not a fan of April Fools Day at all, so no pranks here.

And the personal training saga continues - Last night I met with a new personal trainer because mine got fired. Thankfully, this new guy seems pretty awesome. I have 20 sessions left so I'm hoping I can make some real progress with him in the next two months. He seems to have a much better understanding of what he's doing and has a much better personality than my last trainer.

I'm hoping today is a pretty slow day at work because I'm really not feeling it but that's true of every day lately. I've been sending out more resumes and I'm hoping I'll hear something from one of those jobs soon!

  • @Labro - CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @TwoDimes - Only 4 months!!  How exciting!!
  • It doesn't seem like anyone in my office is participating in any April Fool's pranks and that's fine by me. I don't like to be pranked and I'm not really into it. There will probably be at least 1 person on FB who will announce a fake pregnancy.

@allusive007 I hope baby turns on his/her own! I don't think I've actually ever heard of an inversion- what do they do?
I'd want to avoid a C-section too but if that's the safest option you will be fine- like PPs have said they're so commonplace now and just require extra recovery time. Obviously I've never been in this situation and don't know enough about this but I know sometimes women feel pressured to give in to having a C-section and I'd hate to see that happen if there are other safe options.

@cocobellaf good luck on the interview!! fingers crossed for you!

  • @clogreeneyes - fuckton is one of my favorite words!

@allusive007 - all the T&P for you, Baby Allusive, and your DH.

@swazzle - We started watching the Fall but haven't gotten all the way through it yet. Unfortunately with my ILs arriving tonight, I doubt I'll see many of my shows until late April.

@cocobellaf - Good luck with the interview!

    @southernpeach89 - Happy birthday Maddux!

@labro - that is awesome about your student loan. Isn't it a great feeling? (I remember paying off my undergrad... oh 16 years after I gradutaed).

@twodimes - If you don't provide a knife, and your venue has a kitchen, then I'm sure they will provide you with one. We didn't want to spend money on a ceremonial knife we'd never use again, so we just used the venues. FOUR MONTHS!!!!

AFM - no April fool's day pranks on tap. I had a really good one played on me at my job 12 years ago. It's long, though, and I'm too tired to type that much ;)

Tonight my in-laws get into town. My FIL is here for a week. My MIL is here for three weeks. I'm tired just thinking about all the entertaining we'll be doing... but it will be fun, too.
