  • @labro - That's awesome! Congrats!!!!

    @keptinstitches, how many days left until your wedding?  What last minute details do you have left?

    @allusive007, thoughts and prayers for baby to turn around!

    @southernpeach89, Happy Birthday Maddux!!

    * * *

    Has anyone else ever experienced this: when you first wake up in the morning, a to-do item or question pops into your head randomly, and you just CANNOT get it out of your head or go back to sleep? That happens to me frequently, and it happened this morning. When I woke up, I instantly thought, "CAKE KNIFE! I wonder if I have to provide a knife so FI and I can do the cake-cutting at our wedding reception, or if the venue provides one?" Such a silly thing to worry about, but it just goes to show how many tiny details are involved in planning an event. Hopefully I don't forget anything!

    Today marks 4 months until I marry FI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This will usually happen to me in the middle of the night which is even worse! I constantly have wedding related thoughts popping up in my mind all day long. So many details ahh!

  • @labro - congrats on paying off loans!

    @twodimes - i wake up thinking of things like that (well not WR things but just random errands or whatever). sometimes i will text myself so i can remember it for later and go back to sleep. somehow i dont think guys go through this.....i always seem to have a million things on my to do list and BF never seems to have any.
  • How scary! I hope you and the baby are ok! I have never had children and have never heard of inversion so I am not helpful. Good vibes your way though!

    I am not pulling any pranks but corporate is playing a prank on our customers! They even did a press release, lol. Can't say any deets since many of you are from the East coast where we have a majority of our restaurants. :) I love seeing the pranks but I don't like them done to me, total hypocrite here :D

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers'>
  • @swazzle I'll have to tell FI about The Fall- he loves creepy shows and horror stuff.

    @cu97tiger I'd be a mess if my MIL was staying with me for 3 weeks. I'm glad you have the type of relationship that this doesn't bother you. My FILs drive me nuts.
     This just reminded me that I had a nightmare last night that my FILs pretty much told us they were moving in with us! I could never. Nope nope nope.

  • I only have the next few minutes free, but I thought I would share a few pranks played on me this morning. First period, a social studies class, all of the students had their desks on the side when I walked in. Funny, not funny, I guess. In my English class, the kids fell on the floor as we were reading. I was so shocked I think I may have screamed out loud!

    I'll have to come back and see everyone else's pranks!

    @TwoDimes

    Question 1: You could do color coordinated stickers for meal choices - red sticker for beef, blue for chicken, green for vegetarian, etc. But I don't know a cheap way to get around actually getting the tent cards. Michael's probably has some that you could get for cheap with  a coupon. I bought a tent card design off of Etsy for $8 and then bought a bunch of heavy weight paper from Jo-Ann's and then printed it all at FedEx (that part got kind of expensive between menus, escort cards, and programs).

    Question 2 - Personally, I'd proceed as if she's going to be there. We found my FG's dress at Sears. They have a really adorable American Princess dress line and after Easter you'll start to find tons of white dresses on sale. We had zero issues finding her a white, poofy dress when we shopped for it in July too. I was able to shop with my FG, but if you don't think you can, you can always say, any white dress is ok, and even say ankle length/knee length/whatever. You could even send them links from DB of FG dresses you like (they usually have some on sale for $50 or less).

  • @TwoDimes

    1. I ordered my place cards off of Etsy. I ordered just plain generic tent cards and the seller was able to print onto the cards for me. You could try ordering through etsy and make a list of each entree and the cards that need to be created according to that entree. They would send you a proof and you can approve of it before hand. I'm not sure on what kind of cost you would encounter but I paid a little over $100 for my 150 guest count.

    2.I don't think anyone would side eye if you printed labels onto the cards. That seems pretty easy to do and if I had a label maker then I would go for it.

    3. I would just ask her if she has thought about FG dresses or the style she was thinking of. I wouldn't ask her if she has bought one yet necessarily. Just causally bring it up and ask if she has thought about it. If she goes into detail about the style and what not then maybe bring up if she wanted help when she went shopping etc...or she if she decides to wait a little while longer due to the pregnancy etc...then I would just tell her no rush and let you know once she knows any more details.

    @lavenderfields13 - from what I understand, a version is a procedure where your doctor attempts to flip the baby from the outside by pressing on your abdomin. Basically trying to lift baby's bottom out of your pelvis and push it's head down. I've heard from a couple people that it's extremely painful and the doctor may have to try multiple times. It can cause you to go into labor, which is why the procedure is done in the hospital. My doctor said he'd wait until 38 weeks because sometimes babies flip back and that's less likely when the baby is bigger.

    ETA: Apparently has a success rate of 58%.

  • allusive007 I have not personally experienced a c-section, but my brother and both of my nieces were born by c-section.  My brother was born by emergency c-section at 26 weeks; he's now 21 and perfectly healthy.  Because the c-section was an emergency the result was that if my mom had anymore children they would have to be delivered by c-section (but my brother was the last kid so that wasn't even a thought for my mom). Both of my nieces were born by scheduled c-sections.  After my older niece was born the doctor told my best friend that she had the option between scheduling a c-section for future children or delivering naturally. My mom and best friend both said that it is more mental, but your c-section scar will always bother you.  You can't lift anything over 10lbs for two weeks following the surgery, and will still be limited after that.  My youngest niece was born February 5, my best friend still has to take it easy but she's able   If you have any other questions/concerns I can ask them for you. Also, sending lots of vibes to you and baby!

    CocoBellaF Good luck in your interview today!

    @swazzle all 4 tires in your new car?! Even if potholes are to blame, I would contact the dealer you got it from.

    No pranks here, other than Mother nature being a sneaky biotch and deciding to snow yesterday.  We got about 4 inches of heavy, slushy snow.  Cars were stuck everywhere.  Every road I tried to take to get to my house, was blocked.  So I ended up going to help my bf spackle, in my suit since I didn't have a change of clothes.  They finally plowed around 10:00pm, and by plowed I mean the main roads were clear but the side and back roads were untouched.

    Tonight I am helping my mom go food shopping and get everything we need for Easter. Tomorrow I'll be helping my bf with the house, probably till late since I am off Friday.  Friday will be a mix of girl's day with my sister and painting my house.

  • @lavenderfields13 - My SFIL drives me nuts, but I can handle 7 days of him. My MIL is a wonderful person with a great sense of humor. I hit the MIL jackpot!

    @twodimes - 1) I ordered folded business cards from Vistaprint with part of our design in one corner. I think they were $10. My sister wrote the names on the cards (she has better handwriting than I do) and put a blue star or something for one entree... nothing for the other entree. If you have three entrees, you'd need two colors.   2) If you don't care what she wears, then I wouldn't bring it up. If you care that it matches your wedding colors, I would have your FI ask your FSIL if she has anythign that works. I bought my FGs outfit.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • I tried and failed at April fools.

    I taped an air horn under my co-workers desk chair, so the weight of him sitting down was supposed to make it go off, but instead it pushed the whole thing down and barely made a little squeak noise. I had someone distracting his view so I could videotape it and everything! I'm so disappointed. I went to two damn stores looking for an air horn too.

    I'm waiting for a few more co-workers to leave so I can swap their name plaques.

  • @speakeasy14 - Thanks for the info. I'm feeling like a scheduled c-section is better than waiting too long and having an emergency c-section. Both for baby & me, and for DH to have time to mentally prepare. I have heard the procedure is much easier than it was in our parents' day. I know the recovery time is longer...which is unfortunate because I really won't have help during the day when H is at work. Guess it's more to think about...
  • Ugh. I may be in the minority, but I hate April Fools' Day. I either believe everything and feel silly and gullible, or I don't believe anything and feel like a prude/unfun person. I digress..

    Tonight BF and I are hosting our weekly game night. It was been like pulling teeth to get people to commit to coming. They either want to invite more people, or wait until the last minute to "rsvp" (I assume waiting for better plans to come up?) or only want to play their own games. It's maddening. And we have scheduled all of the game nights a certain way, that way we know everyone gets along with everyone and there is no weird drama.. I wish our friends were more mature!

    Work has been bonkers, and will be until April 16. I work in the retirement section of a call center for a large bank, so our phones are ringing off the hook! Luckily I only have one full week of work this month.

  • @TwoDimes I feel like that's how the majority of my wedding has been planned. I'll randomly get a detail or something in my head (like, for example, cake toppers), and then I'll spend the next week or two researching the crap out of it. It's exhausting. I do think your venue will provide a knife for the cake though-- it's definitely worth looking into. Also, FOUR MONTHS!!!

    @allusive007 I've never heard of anyone having a version done. I think most go for the c-section instead. I definitely understand your concerns about a c-section though. I'm sending all the vibes that the baby flips on their own!

    @500days LOL kids are funny with pranks. The smallest things crack them up. That's really cute.

    @labro Congrats on no more student loan debt! That's an amazing accomplishment! Paying off your H's loans in only a year and a half is a really awesome plan too. You guys are kicking financial butt!

    @CocoBellaF Good luck today!

    @Dignity100 Phantom is the only one I've seen, and I really enjoyed it. If it's the "newly imagined" one (which is the one I saw last year), it's apparently not as good as the original.

    @bethsmiles I hope this new trainer is a lot better!

    @Swazzle UGH new tires. :(

    @lmcooper86 Awwww I love that you guys are moving into such a welcoming neighborhood.

    @southernpeach89 Happy Birthday, Maddux!
    -------------------------------
    I think my fever broke last night. I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat (so gross)  even though FI had turned the AC down to 68. Today I'm feeling a lot better, but my voice finally left. FI says I sound like a trucker.

    I'm working from home again today since I'm apparently still contagious up to a day or two after my fever breaks. I told my boss that FI thinks I sound like a trucker, and she keeps saying stuff like, "That's a big 10-4" in all of her emails lol.

    I just spent the past 5 minutes zoning, so I clearly need some tea and breakfast to help energize me. Work is picking up again, so I can't goof off all day anymore.

    Also, no April Fools jokes for me. I can't stand them. Last year there were so many fake FB pregnancies that I posted one of the Confused Fry memes about it. One of the pregnancies ended up being real though lol.

    Anywho, hope you all have a great Wednesday!

  • @Labro Yay for student loan pay offs, it's such a great feeling

    @Twodimes I did that a lot with the wedding stuff I'd wake up focusing on something or wake up in the middle of the night worrying about some minor detail.  I bought a cake knife set at Michael's I believe, it was cheap and I had a coupon.  I don't think I paid anymore than $10 for it.  I actually used it at Thanksgiving when we hosted so I'd say it was worth it.  I found nice ones I considered registering for but I didn't think it was worth the money.

    @goldenpenguin, happy birthday!

    @twodimes, cake knife - ok, one more thing to contact the venue about. Hoping not much for last-minute details, I should be able to start printing the "guts" of the bulletins tonight (covers are already done) and work on place cards. I'm doing my own using the rhinestones from the invites, Sharpie borders (should be good if FI can keep his hand steady), and printable tent-style cards from Office Max/Office Depot/Office Place. I think they were $15 for 120? They're perforated so I'm happy.

    My mom got the bouts and corsages done, the bouquets need to be trimmed to length and wrapped, there are five more pew bows to make, my side is all in on RSVPs (good, deadline is Saturday to give us time to track down people and wait for the inevitable stragglers on FI's side ... deadlines go "whoosh" for most of them), gotta get MOH to settle on a hairstyle-type (my stylist likes to see ideas ahead of time, but it's totally up to MOH as to what she wants), manis were scheduled yesterday ... I'm hoping for a spa day to get my skin in really good shape and the car needs detailing.

    ETA: 24 days to go!
  • @TwoDimes - I would use business cards as already mentioned.  For the cake knife, our venue would have provided a generic one, but H wanted the fancy one with our names engraved on it.  He didn't ask for much, so that's the one we go.  As for FG dress, if you want casually bring it up, try to let it work itself into conversation naturally.

  • Happy April Fools! April Fools was yesterday here, and I
    tried to explain April Fools to one of the neighbors who spoke English… but she
    did not understand me. Just asked “American Joke?” when I explained wrapping a
    toilet in clear plastic wrap. It might have been the language barrier.

    @allusive007 I am sending lots of good vibes your way!

    @GoldenPenguin Happy early birthday! And wow! One month
    until your wedding? So exciting!

    @Labro congratulations on paying off your loans! I cannot
    wait to be in your shoes!

  • This is a post and run, but @GoldenPenguin your birthday is April 2nd????? That is so weird! We were almost birthday twins!

    Anyways, I always have mixed feelings about April Fool's Day. Today is actually my birthday, but sometimes people don't believe me! FI asked me last night where I wanted to go out to dinner tonight, and I told him I would sleep on it. I had a nightmare last night that we went to dinner tonight, and the waitress was rude to us because she didn't believe us that it was my birthday and let our food get cold to "prank the pranksters". I feel like I need to have my license out at all times to show everyone that April 1st is my actual legal birthday.

  • @AuoraRose41 - Happy birthday!

  • @TwoDimes I don't really have advice for #3, but for #4, my venue determined my start time by figuring out when sunset would be that day. We're starting about an hour before sunset.

    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • @twodimes 7/14 is fine, it gives you time to contact stragglers before the venue's cutoff date.  As for start time, how late are you willing to wait to eat?  You won't be eating until at least an hour and half from your start time, so I would base starting from when you know you're going to want food.  (Personally, I usually eat by 7, so for selfish reasons I would make sure that there is food in front of me before 7).

    Hmmm, I'm with @eilis1228. I wanted some evening/sunset type photos so we had to make sure our ceremony ended and left us enough time to get those "golden hour" shots. Since your wedding is in summer and it doesn't get dark until much much later, you don't really need to worry about this.

    How long do you have your venue for? Ours included a 30 minute ceremony followed by a 4 hour reception (1 hour cocktail hour and 3 hours of reception time). We didn't want our reception to end at 10, we wanted it to end at 11 so we purchased an extra hour, had the ceremony start at 5:30 and the reception (cocktail hour) begin at 6.

    In regards to RSVPs, I think our RSVP deadline was about 3 weeks before the wedding because our numbers were due 2 weeks before and I wanted some extra time for stragglers and rsvp follow up. I think you're ok with some date near that 7/18 time frame you mentioned. Like 7/14 or 7/15 rsvp date.

  • @CocoBellaF - Good luck, I hope your interview goes well!!

    @labro - Congrats on paying off your loans! That's so awesome.

    @TwoDimes - AH 4 months! It's going to fly by! Re: RSVPs - we're meeting with our venue 3 weeks before, so we set an RSVP date just before that to give us a few days to track people down if needed. I think you're probably fine.

    @GoldenPenguin - Ummmm I'm getting married next month tooooo! Thanks ;)

    @eilis1228 - I know, it was nice to meet them early. We're going to have to learn (or pick up) some Italian, the whole area is very Italian. I'm secretly hoping the owners won't be able to take all of their pasta sauce and they'll leave some behind for us lol

    KeptInStitches - Wow, your wedding is so close!! I can't wait to see how all of your DIY stuff turns out!

    @AuroraRose41 - Happy birthday!

    So TwoDimes reminded me that I wanted to look into the placecards that match our invitations suite...but for some reason they aren't showing the same colours available for the placecards. I emailed Minted and they replied that they can't do white and silver...which is really stupid, because they can do silver with other card stock colours, and they can do white with gold, so I just don't understand. And I'm bummed. And I know it's a stupid thing to be bummed about. Blah.

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • @allusive007 sending you lots of T's & P's.

    @labro congrats! That must be a wonderful feeling! FI and I plan to tackle ours more aggressively after the wedding (but before we buy a house).

    @cocobellaf good luck on the interview!

    @swazzle sorry about your tires! I definitely have a love/hate relationship with cars.

    There has only been one prank so far, but I absolutely love it. Our company played a prank on all of it's employees. We have a company app store, because we are cool like that, and there have been two emails sent out advertising a new app that you can download to "make yourself more productive" by "destroying all of your emails". I can't decide whether or not to download it. I'm tempted to see what it actually does (and it's probably some sort of April Fool's Animation), but I know that there are engineers here who are completely capable of coding an app to actually destroy emails, and that would be a cruel prank.

    Last year, one of our senior executives sent an email to everyone detailing a business restructure with a power point attached. The power point went into all this detail about the restucturing, and apparently people didn't read the slides all the way to the end and believed it, because the last slide said "April Fool's" in large letters.

    I can definitely appreciate the fact that my company likes to have fun on April Fool's Day. I also really liked seeing Google Maps' prank this year, even though I'm not sure how much of a prank it really is, and I hope they keep the feature. For those of you who don't know, you can play Pacman on Google Maps if you zoom in enough on a city.

    Other than that, I have to decide where I want to go for my birthday tonight! I don't know if any resturants have any fun specials, but I am going to look. One resturant back in NY has a free margarita on your birthday (or so I have heard).

    @TwoDimes I think it's REALLY going to depend on your group. I honestly wish I hadn't tacked on the extra hour. I was OVER it by 10 pm and we still had another hour to go. Plus we had quite a few older people/couples and not as many young people who wanted to stay late and party so it was a pretty small group that was left for our "send-off". I had fun the entire time, but I don't think it would've ruined the party to have ended it at 10 instead of 11.
