Wedding Party

How to thank hair stylist?

FI's Best Man just so happens to be dating one of the top wedding hair stylists in the city we're getting married in.  They've been together for more than a year and live together, so it's not a passing thing.

She offered to do my hair for the ceremony, as well as my bridesmaids, and mom, including a trial whenever I wanted to come over to her place . . . FOR FREE.  Now, like I said, she's a top stylist and I know she charges a premium for things like this, so I'd like to get her something nice as a thank you.

I was thinking of offering to pay for a hotel room near the ceremony for her the night before the wedding (FI and other groomsmen will be staying with the BM, and our ceremony is @11:30am, so hair will be starting early).

The trouble is, although I've met her once and we've been emailing, I don't know her all that well (we live in different cities).  I was hoping to get her something more personal as well as the hotel room.  Can you ladies help me think of a gift?  Here's what I do know about her:

-Speaks English & French
-Likes high end fashion (Burberry, etc)
-Does all of her styling on location, no salon
-Has 2 bijon frises
-Travels quite a bit for work/to see family

Help!!

  • Ugh, I totally meant to post this in Etiquette.  Oh well.
  • Can you ask the BM what her favorite restaurant/store is?  I'd get her a gift card for a fancy dinner out or to her favorite boutique.  Or maybe to a nice spa, if she's into that sort of thing.  (I'd assume she would be, but you never know.)
  • *bichon frise. sorry that was bothering me, i had one :D

anyway, what kind of budget are you thinking for this? you could always do a nice clutch from coach or d&b or something. and don't forget some dog treats, that would mean a lot to any dog owner :)

<div>Ack!  Thank you!  I even Googled it because I was unsure of the spelling.  But I guess enough people besides me spell it wrong that I still got a crapload of hits.  Oh well.</div><div>
</div><div>Thanks for the ideas, ladies, they have sparked some creative juices!</div>
  • Ditto on something for the dogs. Go to a pet boutique and grab treats, toys, or leashes...something like that.

For her I would do a gift certificate for a massage and I like the coach clutch idea (i'm obsessed with coach). But really, who doesn't love a massage?
    Anniversary
  • Ask the BM if she has any favorite restaurants--I like that idea, especially if it's done like Stage said, enough for a really nice night out.

I also like the spa idea--if she's not affiliated with a salon, she probably still has to pay full price for that.  Maybe just get a nice gift card for any service, just in case she's not a fan of massages.

Or could you ask the BM if there is anything she needs for her job?  Like, some kind of travelling case or something since she does every thing on location?

I would go with a massage and a nice Burberry wallet... I like Coach too, but Burberry is definitely a step above. ;) You could do the Spa to Mandarin Oriental or something... that place is always fabulous! Good luck!
