A Child Ghost?

Ok, I read the article, I scrutinized the picture, but I DO NOT see a child in the background of this picture.  Does anyone else?

http://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/family/she-was-just-a-little-girl-when-this-photo-was-taken-but-it-will-haunt-her-forever/ar-AAaDMqf

It looks like a white dress hanging in a closet.

Re: A Child Ghost?

  • Oh I definitely see a child.

  • I see the child, but it looks like a painting.  The first commenter said they have the same exact door with the graphic printed on it in her garage...

I had to kind of squint above the white dress area to see the face
  • I see the kid. Looks kind of like the little girl from Poltraguiest.
  • I saw the girl too.  I found it weird that the lady who is the foreground of the picture said she screamed and cried when she first saw the picture.  Would I be freaked out if that was a picture of me?  YUP!  But screaming and crying?  No. You were so freaked out your neighbors thought some one broke in?

I saw this article first and it showed the child's head more clearly. Clicky.

  • I definitely 100% see a child. Quite distinctly, to the point that I can almost make out the print on her dress.

Had to close the tab because it gave me chills. I can TOTALLY see freaking out to the point of shrieks if I were to happen on such a picture.

Holy shit.  That is creepy as fuck.

Eta: It even looks like the little girl is holding a teddy bear or something.

  • I see it, but it looks like a painting/poster to me. Definitely a 2D image. And I see her holding a teddy bear as well. The picture doesn't freak me out though.

Yeah I agree. I see the girl, but it looks super fake to me. Definitely a print of some sort, not anything to freak out over.

  • Yeah, there is nothing alarming to me about a poster behind a kid.

I mean, it's ugly, for sure. But not scary.

Ok I see the kid in that picture.  Yes it's freaky, but it doesn't really scare me.  I think the girl in the picture may have overreacted a bit.  Screaming and crying? ha.

  • I see it like a poster or picture as well, but it's definitely a little blonde child holding a teddy bear.

  • Sorry but this part made me roll my eyes so hard:
"When Anastassia later asked her parents about the photo, which was taken in their home, they said they'd never seen the child before and confirmed that she was definitely a ghost."

Oh really, you're confirming that? Well I just confirmed that I'm definitely Beyonce.

It's definitely a creepy image, but I'd look for other explanations well before I started screaming and crying. For example, a double exposure. We have tons of photos from when I was a kid with weird double exposure stuff going on, cuz developing film is any easy thing to mess up. And that's just one of a million possibilities. Or maybe I've been followed my entire life by various roving ghosts, in which case how do I train them to make me a cocktail?

  • I saw it earlier and it creeped me out, even if it is a poster or painting it looked weird
  • I mean... I see as much definition in the little background girl as I do the little foreground girl, so...

BUT. I'm also weirdly superstitious. Like, I don't really believe in hauntings or ghosts, but a week ago when I was looking at houses in a rural county we could be moving to sometime in the nebulous future (read: for fun because I was bored) I shied away from the older houses. I don't even have a good reason to shy away from older houses, because I like houses with character, and I've got no problem doing extensive renos (cosmetic or structural) so long as the wiring/plumbing is safe and we have a bed to sleep in and a working stove.

So I think *my* perception of definition there is based largely on the fact that I don't think it's impossible for there to actually be a ghost there.

FI's parents live in a house that was built in the 1800s that they've totally restored and it is beautiful. Amazing.

Recently I found out that the room FI and I always sleep in when we visit was where they used to put dead bodies on display. Cuz it used to be a funeral home for a while in the 1900s. I sleep where dead bodies went.

    Now that, freaks me out.

    FUCK NO.

ETA This is my ENTIRE REASON FOR NOT WANTING OLD HOMES. ANY house older than brand-fucking-new is going to be vetted to ensure it didn't have any deaths in it. For real that's making my skin craaaaaaawl.

  • I don't think it's impossible. But with the internet, I'm likely to suspect fake.

Can somebody who isn't on Safari put this picture into www.fotoforensics.com? It doesn't work with Safari. And I'm curious.

It's a pretty fun error level analysis that shows where additions or touch ups have been made.
    Proper scientific explanation here:

  • I can see the image of a kid in the background. I had to really look though and it doesn't strike me as creepy. It looks like poster or some sort of image in on the door or even just photoshopped.

And her reaction is way over the top. The appropriate reaction is more along the lines of "Hmm, that's kind of creepy now let me move on with my day" not throwing a hysterical fit.

I think the weirdest part is that it doesn't bother me at all. I've slept there since finding out, and I've even been alone in that room at night when I was the only person in the house and most of the lights were off. Still didn't creep me out. I just don't get bad vibes in that house.

FI's mom is into wiccan stuff (she doesn't consider herself a full-blown wiccan) and she always says she has cast "good spells" on the house to chase away any bad spirits or bad vibes. Maybe her spells work. Who knows.

My parents house, however, was built in 1910 and the original owner embezzled money from the mafia and then disappeared. They never found his body. And for some reason any time I'm in that house I get creeped the fuck out.

I couldn't handle it. Our old house (built the same year I was born, with no deaths known to me on the property) creeped me the fuck out at night alone up until the day it burned. I would not be able to stay in EITHER of those houses.
