What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Whatever. Do you seriously think the people doing the interviewing are not part of the hiring process? The person doing the interviewing is a BIG part of deciding who gets hired. Why else would they do interviews?

I'm echoing @lyndausvi. OP, you need to figure out how badly you want to leave your current job. Badly enough to take the whole day off by calling in sick for an interview? Or wait until you accrue more PTO time? Those are pretty much your options because you can't depend on an evening or weekend interview. I have never done an interview that wasn't during an 8-5 workday. Even in my old job where they had second and weekend shift jobs, the people still interviewed during the work day.

I lied. I went back and it was not actually a phone interview, it seems. Not sure where I got that.
