Is this dress too "hoochie mama" ??

We are having a very small destination wedding in Hawaii in the middle of summer. We will have a whopping 3 guests! Afterwards we are headed out to a decently nice dinner, and I've been searching for a nice, kinda sexy, white dress to wear. I plan to also wear this dress for our big reception party we will be having at home.

The trick: I'm pregnant, 5 months now- will be about 6 months when wearing this dress. I need something stretchy. Maternity clothes suck and they are stupid expensive.

Is this too much? I am a petite person otherwise, just will have a belly! lol

I think you should buy a maternity dress. This might stretch over your belly but that is going to pull the hem up and it's already extremely short. I think this just isn't going to be flattering or tasteful on someone 6 months pregnant at all.

Or buy this one a size or two larger than usual. I'd also read the description carefully and make sure it really is stretchy, not just fitted-and-ruched.

I am 100% all for wearing whatever makes you happy on your wedding day. Only you know your body type. My only hesitation about dresses like that is they don't offer much support in the chest. My friends when pregnant always said that it was hard to wear strapless bras. You want to be comfortable and feel sexy. But like I said, you know your body type and maybe this isn't such a huge problem for you.

Maybe something like this would be more comfortable that you could wear a bra with (and hemmed if you want it shorter) and also dress it up with fun accessories like a bold statement necklace or awesome shoes: Clicky

I'm sorry, but IMO tight, short dresses stretched over pregnant bellies always look so tacky. Please buy something with an empire waist instead. And aim for at least the knee because star is right, a mid-thigh dress is going to turn into a top when your belly pulls up the hem in front.

TBH, I do think it's a bit too much. I think you can do much better!

To me, sexy is picking one asset to show off. If you wear a short dress, find a more modest neckline. If you show cleavage, go knee-length or lower. Showing too much leg + chest gets in the realm of trashy looking.

Maternity clothes don't suck. They are just harder to find.

Check out Asos. They have great maternity wear and its not too expensive.

Also, when is your AHR? Because the size of your belly could change dramatically. And your pregnancy might start to effect other parts of your body. (swelling, anyone?)

To be honest, yes. That dress is "hoochie mama". Add a 5-6 month pregnant belly to that dress and it will be up to your ears.

I love the ones that Elca posted. Go with something that route.

Well, the phrase "hoochie mama" is kind of gross, but that aside, I don't think this will be flattering at all stretched over a 6-months-pregnant stomach. It will pull the hem up and show everyone your bits. If you want something a little more "sexy" try a low back as opposed to clubwear.

No, I don't think it looks tasteful or flattering for either a wedding OR a 6 month pregnant belly, and definitely not both together.

Also, I'm confused to how you're 5 months now and will be 6 months at your wedding, in "the middle of summer. The middle of summer is 2-3 months from now.

I am 5 months pregnant. I wouldn't even wear that now. Not to a party (in any color) and certainly not to my own wedding. Mayyybe to a club. I don't know you personally, but I think that's a choice that has a high likelihood of regret.

I would pick a long, flowy, empire waist dress. If you go "short" get a maternity dress. Because regular short dresses are not meant to go over a 6 month pregnant belly. They'll ride up and make the dress look too short.

Maybe OP's definition of "the middle of summer" is the first of the summer months (June)?

You realize that when the belly gets bigger, the hem lifts up in front? I'd only advise that dress if you want your guests to have a free show.

Honestly, it's kind of cheap and sleazy looking. I think you can do better.

I agree it's more of a club/going out dress and won't fit right with a pregnant bump. Although I can't tell how big your bump will be, my mom was able to zip up her normal jeans when she was 5 months pregnant with my sister, so MAYBE you could fit but I wouldn't take the chance.

I really like @LondonLisa 's suggestions. They're sexy and pretty without being TOO clublike.

haha I had figured, thanks for your opinions and suggestions ladies. My man hates the long maxi type stuff, and I do want to look kind of sexy on our wedding night! Combined with the heat and humidity I'd rather opt for a short dress anyhow. This dress does seem a bit too short from images online, it is stretchy material but probably would not work out.

This is actually our third child, I know how big my belly gets and typically wear "normal" clothes just in a size larger.

I'd probably go for a different option but that's just me. Depending on exactly how big your belly is by then, you might possibly end up showing more than just the baby bump.
