    @cookie pusher @hellosweetie1015 Thanks!

My guess is I'll probably pay another one of my crafty friends to do it when they're not busy. I have the lazies, and when I knitted counting was the devil for me.
On the plus side, at least counting back in cross-stitch is a lot easier visually, especially if you're using a lower count aida cloth. I used to use 22-count all the time, and now I try not to use anything smaller than 16-count if I can help it since I have Old Lady Eyes.

Did anyone else make these back in middle school? I had shoe boxes full. Best craft ever.

I loved those! Sometimes I think about making more now just because I love the pretty thread and I also love mindless projects.

ETA: image, ARGH, can't get it to work. Friendship bracelets is what I'm referring to, not just random bundles of yarn.

    Yep, those and lanyards

  • I'm eagerly awaiting my colouring book order to finally arrive!

I knit. A LOT. To the point it drives H nuts when my shit is all over the couch. I taught myself around 3 years ago now. I've knit so many scarves and shawls. I'm finally progressing into socks and sweaters!

I love using embroidery floss for puppets. it just adds such a nice textural detail.

  • I was just going to come on here and make a thread about this.

Last night, I just finished sewing H a button up. I learned how to sew from my grandma, a quilter. Now quilting is not easy, but the types of small wall hangings I was doing (all with square pieces) are much easier than clothes sewing.

I had a hard time keeping the pockets straight and the edge stitching even and trying to line up the sleeves correctly. I sewed on the sleeves and had H try it on. The one sleeve twisted something awful and was super tight across the shoulder, and I was ready to scream. But, turns out I just lined up the wrong seams and the sleeves were a quarter turn off. And then the buttonholes gave me grief. The one on the collar had to stitch through four layers of fabric and two layers of interfacing, and the machine kept jamming. I ended up having to finish half of that hole by hand.

I'm sort of pleased with it. It's certainly not perfect, but I had to keep telling myself I was learning and it was a work shirt (he's a mechanic), so no one will care if the edge stitching is uneven or the hem isn't perfect because he'll be getting it dirty and greasy.

I made him the shirt because he can never find ones with long enough sleeves that aren't too big in the body.

In all, it was not a bad project to teach myself clothes sewing on. (WHY DOES MY IPHONE KEEP AUTOCORRECTING SEWING TO SEEING?) because it was a work shirt, I used a "bottom weight" fabric - aka pants fabric. So it was heavy and easy to work with and I could pick stitches a lot without ruining it.

I have three patterns for myself - an apron, which should be another easy one, and two shirts that should be simple. I also bought enough fabric for another shirt for H.

I made a couple pot holders a few weeks ago.

Other than that, I do some jewelry making with wire and beads, but haven't done much lately.

I cross stitched as a kid, but haven't done any since 8th grade probably. I'd like to do that again at some point.

I made cards when I was younger and scrapbooked because my mom was super into it and had all the stuff. I don't have any of the stuff and don't really have room for it, so I don't do that anymore.

I have a latchhook project I'd like to finish, but I don't know when that'll happen. It's at my parents house.

In the future, I may decide to do some quilting, probably small stuff like wall hangings at first.
  • I do any kind of needlework, but my favorite is hand quilting.  I learned from a Mennonite woman in 1970.  My least favorite is crochet.  My hand gets cramps.  There is a piece I made in a museum in Oklahoma somewhere.

I draw, I do random ass DIY projects, and I'm still going to pick up sewing. On my plate currently, finish chapter 1(started thumbnails, and rough line work) , finish my teacup planter, repaint an old chair for my closet, learn to sew, finish my little sculpey dragon for another planter, and draw the anniversary gift for H.

Tell me more about this teacup planter. How big is it? Where did you get it? I saw one at a garden centre when I was back in Ontario but couldn't bring it to BC with me.

I just bought a colouring book today. It should arrive next week. I know how to knit, cross stitch, sew and latch hook. Kitty is a terror around these things so the only crafty thing I do now is baking and cupcake decorating.

I attached a in progress pic. I just bought teacups at goodwill and am putting them together with epoxy. I think it will be cite once it's done, I'll just use it for moss and succulents Since planter space is so small.

  • I cannot craft to save my life.

I mean, I guess I am okay at, like, drawing. But I would never consider it a hobby. It stresses me out!
  • My version of crafting is just putting Mod Podge on everything... I find something at Goodwill and cover it in scrapbook paper so I can turn it into something for my classroom. I recently agreed to make a sign for each of the 5 teachers in my grade to go into our school art show. I'm leaving the grade this year so I thought it would make a nice little farewell gift for each of them and the art teacher would be happy to have something from third grade teachers in the art show. I should probably get moving on those....
  • Man, you guys are all so crafty.

I fail at anything that's crafty.  My mom asked me the other day what my problem was (we were working on a project together.  She and my dad are both very talented at anything crafty and it was beyond comprehension for her that I sucked at it). I think I lack the patience, and the fact that a lot of crafts start off so disorganized drive me crazy.  I want instant results, and I want them to be organized and neat.

I can organize like nobody's business though.  The process is soothing.  Does that count?

I think that explanation fits me too, especially the lack of patience for the process

I like to knit, paint (badly), recycle/upcycle stuff, and build simple furniture. I wish I knew how to sew, I really should make an effort to learn one of these days.

I've ordered some of the colouring books but they've haven't arrived yet!

  • I've been working on Cubees to act as player markers in our World of Darkness game. That's about it though. I have a blank template that I'm using for our human PCs and NPCs, and I'm seriously considering making a bunch of tiny Lord Voldemorts to "play" the monsters etc.

That's the exact page they showed in my CNN interview!  I loved coloring it!  I did it as kind of a rainbow!

  • I've actually had a lot of people coming in to my work just looking for the prettiest supplies for color their adult coloring books, which is fun for me.

Adult coloring books are the gateway drugs to travel watercolor sets, which are a slippery slope to regular watercolors, which are the foot in the door to taking an art class.

I take paint and booze classes with my friends now.  It's the shit.
oh, those classes are so much fun!

Awesome! Not exactly what I was looking for though :( I saw these giant teacup herb gardens that hold about 5 herbs that I wanted to get in Ontario, but not exactly the best idea when you need to travel with it by planes, trains and automobiles. I haven't been able to find something similar at the local garden centres.

You could probably get away with getting a large terracotta pot, paint it and it's saucer (get one thats too big for it) and use sculpey to make a handle. Sculpey is easy to work with, and handles wouldn't be too hard, it's basically just a rope curved.

I feel like if more things included "and booze" I'd take more classes.

How to balance your checkbook, with Jack Daniels!
    Spin class with Skyy!
Filing your taxes and doing shots!

    I'd go to these things.

I don't think spinning with Skyy would be a good idea.  I woudln't wanna be on the cleanup crew for that haha

DH and I have done several 5Ks where the sponsors reward you with massive amounts of beer when you finish. It's the only reason I go to those darn things!
