Cards from both?

Re: Cards from both?

  • I think I've been with FI too long, I make sure his family gets all their gifts. I pick them out and sign for both of us.

  • With my ex-, it depended on the occasion.

If it's a generic enough card for a birthday or holiday, then it was both of us.
So something like "Sending you birthday wishes..." or "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year..." or "Get Well Soon..."

But for the most part, I put a lot of time and effort in finding the exact right card to convey my feelings for the people I'm closest to.  And for something like Mother's and Father's Day, those feelings and relationships are individual.  So, I would send a card to my mother from only me.  He would pick out a more generic card or one that fits his relationship with her better from just himself.  So my card would say something like "Mom, I appreciate all the years you were by my side and your love and support..." and his card would be more generic "Wishing you a Happy Mother's Day" variety.
  • I think we usually just sign each other's names.

Love, Fiona and Sophie or From, Sophie and Fiona, or <3 Fi and So (or So and Fi), and occassionally, SoFi!

Hell, sometimes I forget to sign cards all together.

My fiance's mom isn't in the picture so only my mom gets a card, we got one that said from your daughter and son-in-law and of course we'll both sign it even though we won't be married when mother's day gets here. Since my parents and my fiance like each other, it's not a big deal.
