Where did you find your dress?

I wear a 16/18 jean and 20/22 top. The only dress I own is 22/24 because it was the only one that would cover my chest (depending on the brand I'm an F, G, or H cup). I HAVE to have sleeves, I can't fathom trying to deal with a strapless top. I really like the 1950's vintage look... tea or ankle length with 3 quarter sleeves.

Take a look at the sticky's on the top of the board to get some ideas about where other people have gotten their dresses! I recommend David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo for plus-sized women. Both stores have some pretty great dresses.

I second Alfred Angelo. Look for a signature store in your area. Also, try to find a salon near you that carries the Mori Lee Julietta line. Mori Lee is a pretty easy to find designer... and her dresses are reasonably priced (600-1100). I tried on probably 40 or 50 wedding gowns, and the only ones that I even remotely liked were Alfred Angelo or Mori Lee. A few David's Bridal dresses were "Maybes"... but, the difference in quality of fabric between DB and AA or ML was pretty dramatic, and the price difference wasn't signficant.

PS. You can buy a strapless gown and add a bolero jacket with 3/4 sleeves to give you the look you want.

AA has this new line out and they go up to size 30

Before you write off strapless, totally try on a laceup strapless or 4. I was terrified too, but I was amazed that it can actually look ok and the dresses totally had more then enough support that I wouldn't need additional support. Any dress I get will have straps added.....and I found a halter strap looked best.....oddly enough. I totally thought off the shoulder or cap sleaves would look best but they enphasized my arms and the halter totally detracted from them. Everyone will look different, but try them all! You may be surprised.
