Moo Monday

Because moo was the best story I could come up with: once upon a time, H and I were on a farm on his grandfathers property in West Virginia. I was CONVINCED his cell phone was ringing and was like oh don't you hear your cell phone? Pick it up! H looked at me like I had 27 heads and said, "um...that sound is a cow. Mooing." And may or may not have given me a look of "seriously, city girl?!"

This Monday, aka today, I am meeting our new principal at school. I hope he brings good change but doesn't do a drastic overhaul cause I'm scared some of the old timers will leave if he does. Our old principal was and is amazing. So it's definitely producing anxiety among the masses.

Also our new camera for our trip comes today!

I want to make some sort of craft later today but I'm not really sure where to start. So I'll likely be on Pinterest a bit later as well!

This weekend was so fun! I got bloodwork done (and sorta behaved myself) and then relaxed for a few hours. Mowed the grass, Swam in the pool, decided to see Jurassic world (totally worth it!). Yesterday we bought lots of stuff we need for our trip (like shorts and sandals and whatnot. For 10 days we need more than the few pairs we have. We will definitely be doing laundry on vacation haha) and watched baseball. Oh and swam in the pool again. Two days in one weekend is definitely a record for us.

So any good random stories? How was your weekend?

Re: Moo Monday

  • Morning.  Weekend was fun for the most part here!  H and I went out to eat on Saturday, bought some new sneakers (our were shot) and I got a massage, which was heavenly.  H and I also went to go see Jurassic World.  I felt terrible for H though...his 3D glasses were broken and they didn't have a working pair for him (a few people left the show because they had the same issue).  H didn't tell me that he couldn't really see the movie well because my glasses were working and he knew I wanted to see it.  Yes, he is that sweet.  We ended up getting a refund but I felt bad that he sat through the movie not really seeing it.
  • @blue&white - remind me again where you are going on your trip?

my weekend was ok. i watched all of season 3 of OITNB, ran both days, and went to the beach for a couple hours on satruday. today is grey and rainy and all i want  to do is be in bed.
  • @TwoDimes - LOVEEE!! My SIL did personalized M&Ms for my shower too, and they were one of my favorite parts! I'm glad you felt so spoiled - that's one of the best parts ;) Where's a picture of YOU!?

  • Happy Monday!!

I had Friday off, so BF took it off too! We went and saw Jurassic World in the morning and it was awesome!! Then we ran some errands, I had a dentist appointment, and then we headed off to my cousin's graduation party.

Saturday we started to watch Prisoner of Azkaban but then my mom texted me to go shopping so I went with her. She bought my some tops for my birthday. Then I went to my cousin's house and she curled my hair and we all went out to dinner for my birthday! We went to Fire and Ice in Providence. The food was very good but the service was AWFUL! We won't be going back for a while. After that we headed over to the Water Fires and hung out there for a bit before heading home.

Yesterday was my birthday! We ran to the grocery store then headed into Boston for the Rex Sox game. My mom got free tickets and we sat right behind homeplate! They lost miserably but it was a nice day so we enjoyed it! We then stopped and got a beer on the way home and headed back to the house. I finished laundry while BF watched wrestling. It was a very nice day!!

  • @TwoDimes Oh wow, what a great shower! Your FSIL did a wonderful job! Sorry your FILs don't seem to understand etiquette... I really hope they don't pull this at the wedding!

@GoldenPenguin NEY G2G at your house so we can break in your new wine rack? :)

@minskat30 Awwww that was really sweet of your H! I'm glad you were able to enjoy the movie. I can't believe a theatre would have so many faulty glasses for a huge summer blockbuster.

@jenjen047 Jealous of your beach day! I would love a trip to the beach right now.

@Blue&White Where are you guys going on your vacation again? I remember it's tropical and sounded amazing, just can't remember the location.

@Hummingbird125 Pics of new couch or it didn't happen. ;-)

@Swazzle I want to hear all about your awesome party!

    ------------------------------
I had such a great weekend! Friday night FI and I saw Jurassic World, and we loved it. On Saturday, I baked a ton of stuff for a friend's birthday party that night. We were a little apprehensive about the party because it was strangely planned. For example, they posted on FB that they'd hired a bartender for the event (there were only about 20 people attending, by the way), and they said they would only provide the liquor and asked everyone to bring mixers and sancks. They then polled everyone to see what types of liquor they should buy... yeah... They also posted that our friend would prefer Amazon gift cards as her gift. We replied that we hoped the Patron we bought would suffice lol.

Anywho, I volunteered to bake some things for the party so I could use my new Kitchenaid mixer, and my friend requested I make a cuatro leches cake as well. I'd never made anything like that before, but I figured if I failed, I'd just buy a chocolate cake at a store on our way there. The cake itself ended up being incredibly simple to make... however, the recipe called for a 13x9 pan, and Saturday morning I could not find any of my 13x9 pans. I decided to use two 9-inch round pans and just do a double layer cake. It was all fine and dandy until FI and I tried to take the cakes out of the pans. Even though the cakes had been chilling for about 7 hours by that point, they obviously hadn't absorbed all the liquid because the cakes started oozing before we could finish icing them! We rushed it over to our friends' house (with a towel underneath because it was seriously oozing!), and they cleared out space in their fridge and let it sit there for a few more hours. By the time we served it, it was fine, but it was not a pretty cake at all. lol. Apparently it was really good though, and they told me they wanted me to make it again next year. I told them I hoped they didn't find a bunch of slices of cake around their house like the Friends episode with Rachel's English trifle lol.

We partied pretty hard that night... I had quite a bit to drink, so Sunday I nursed a hangover most of the day. Sunday night we went out to the FIL's house to do an early Father's Day celebration. It was a lot of fun! FBIL and his GF brought their new adorable weenie dog (which they named Peter Johnson lol), and I spent the evening trying to convince FI to give Peter a cousin. There was one awkward moment where FMIL kept asking if I wanted FI's cousin who lives in the city where we're getting married to ask around about a preacher... she knows we've asked FFIL to officiate, and for some reason she's really bothered by it. I told her if FFIL was uncomfortable officiating, my older brother offered his services as an officiant, so there was no pressure. I also reiterated that money/not knowing a preacher was not why we'd asked FFIL to officiate. FFIL said he thought it was cool we asked him to do the ceremony, so we left it at that. I'm curious what her reaction will be when I send FFIL our secular ceremony script...

Anywho, after dinner we went to a friends' house to watch the GoT finale. It was so good! I'm really curious how next season will go because we're officially caught up to the books, and Book 6 still doesn't have a publication date.

We also bought and built our buffet on Saturday. It looks so good! I wish it came with a couple more shelves though... I wonder if IKEA sells extra shelves for their various furniture lines... hmmm... FI said it's almost completely full, so hopefully we have room for my mom's china.

I need a day to recover from my weekend lol.

  • @eilis1228 - I will host ALL the NEYG2G's, but I'll need a bottle of wine for an entrance fee ;) haha

Seriously, I have NO idea how I'm going to fill the wine cart, the wine rack currently on the wall, and the other one from Liv (which holds SEVEN bottles!!)

  • @GoldenPenguin We could totally have a wine party! Also, wine subscriptions are great. Do you have a favorite winery/region where they grow wine? My parents are obsessed with a few wineries in Napa, and they had a wine subscription for a while through some of those wineries. You could always look into something like that to help fill up all your wine storage. :)

    Fun Fact Re: Moo Monday

Cows are my roommate's favorite animal. Therefore, my house is decorated with cow things. Cow plates, cow mugs, cow pictures, cow stuffed animals, cow figurines. There are cows everywhere, but not like IN YOUR FACE (it took me a few days/weeks after I moved in to even notice the motif) and I kinda dig it.

My weekend was great! I have the BEST TIME EVER at the concert in Philly on Saturday even though it was 90 degrees and it was in an outdoor stadium and I didn't drink much. I was super dehydrated all day yesterday despite drinking like a gallon of water throughout the day. Today I feel a lot better. I didn't get picked to meet Taylor despite my super fun costumes I made but I still had the BEST time and there's always next month when I go to the Jersey show ;)

It's finals week! I should have gone to the library today but my room was a mess and there was glitter everywhere so I opted to clean up instead and I feel that it was the right move. I have the rest of the week to get my work done and take my exams so it's gonna be another 20+ hours at the library kinda week for me. It always feels like a time crunch because I have one less day to turn it all in but I know I can do it and I'll be SO relieved on Sunday when I am DONE with these classes!

Edit: Also, I had a dream last night that me and BF were planning a wedding but he hadn't proposed yet but in the dream I kept hearing NEYers saying "if you're planning a wedding together congrats! You are engaged" so I thought that was pretty funny lol
  • @untouchablets - I am SO JEALOUS you saw TSwift. I am convinced that we'd be besties if we met.

If you ever get the chance to go I HIGHLY urge you to do it! I have seen her three times and it's ALWAYS amazing even in the nosebleed seats lol. All the kids and adults dressed in fun costumes referencing her music are the best, my friend and I were dressed as baristas and in line we met some coffee cups. Other times we saw other baristas and were yelling across the concourse at them, it was awesome :)

@GoldenPenguin Boo!! I thought you were going Saturday too. :( Oops!!! I love your wine cabinet btw....Vi fuzzies and all! I'd love to fly up for the 4th but I sort of have a 10k to run that morning. ;)

  • Good morning, happy Monday!

I love the Moo story, @Blue & White.

I went to bed at 8 PM on Friday with a migraine, but the rest of the weekend was pretty great.  my parents took a quick weekend trip to NOLA, so we had one of their dogs all weekend.  Normally she's a terror, but she was on pretty good behavior all weekend.

    @TwoDimes - What a fun shower!!  I love the M&Ms.

I am so sleepy today.  I've been off the pill for a couple days, so my period should show up tomorrow.  Normally I have a little bit of insomnia before my period, so this is normal...  but it really sucks!!  I want to get in a run tonight before AF arrives this week.  Bleh!

Looks like we are going to get some crazy rain later this week from the remnants of a tropical storm/hurricane/whatever it is, so I realllllly need to weed the garden before then.  So much to do!

@TwoDimes That really really just sucks all around! :( How in the world are you able to even prepare for that? That means paying for possibly an extra table, extra place settings, extra food? I think you have a FMIL-zilla. :( I hope this all calms down after the wedding....

  • @TwoDimes Her size is starting to make me anxious lol! She is getting sooo big! @labro has to help me sit up sometimes because my belly gets in the way.
  • My weekend sucked. I had to work on Saturday and after I left they called me to come back because things weren't balancing and they thought it was something I did...it wasn't. I'm so burnt out on this job that I was just in a horrible mood the rest of the weekend and I'm still in a bitchy mood today. My co-worker is driving me fucking insane. She's racist, she treats me like I'm an idiot because I'm not suspicious as hell about everyone who walks into the bank and she really just a bitch, especially to anyone who isn't a member of our credit union. I really, really hope I hear back from the teaching position I applied to because this job it is taking a serious toll on my mental health.

My mom is getting more testing done today and then I'm driving her to the airport tonight. It was nice to have her here again but it will also be nice to have my apartment back to myself.

  • @southernpeach89 - I LOVE THE PICTURES!!!  You are the cutest pregnant lady ever.  I really like your bathing suit, too.

@southernpeach89 You are my favorite momma to be!!! And I love your baby Callie bump!!!!!

  • @minskat30 yea both H and I can't see out of 3-d glasses. We had a few people leave our showing cause there were no seats (people were sitting on the ground in the wheelchair area. It was bad)

@jenjen047 we are going to st Lucia!

@labro that's so fun you got to meet Callie!! My favorite thing about meeting @southernpeach89 was that she totally told me the truth about pregnancy. First, she said they basically do bloodwork at almost all her appts lol and second she told me her belly is not compressible! So when it bumps into things she has to move lol. I obviously needed to know these things.

@southernpeach89 do you have a report on the chocolate covered bacon get??
