I love our wedding photographer. She took awesome pictures and she sent us the pictures sooner than required under the contract. When I first met with her she showed me her photo books. They were amazing. When she does books for people it's clear she really takes the time to maximize the beauty of each shot. I decided we would probably do a photo book but figure out the details later so we just paid her the $2k for the photo package and didn't include any books stuff at the time.
Well, I asked her about the pricing for books. Books start at $500!!!! That's for a 12x12 with 30 pages. Different bindings, more pages, are all more. Jeeze! I asked her also about multiple copies of the books (to give to family) and those start at $200!!! I was figuring it would be maybe $300 for the first book and a lot less for additional books since I thought most of the cost would be in her doing all of the layout and stuff. Anyway, am I over-reacting to these prices? What would you pay for a professional photo book?
EDIT: Well, I screwed up the poll and can't fix it, so write in your thoughts I guess on what is reasonable.
Re: How much would you pay for a professionally done photobook?
My photographer's albums start at $2,000 and go up from there. These suckers are very expensive everywhere I looked but the 2k on his was still one of the most expensive. Our package came with a $100 credit lol. So that does not make a dent. We will not be doing an album in the foreseeable future. I will probably throw something together using shutterbug or something with photos I like and call it a day. I refuse to pay 2 grand on an album.
But that is just me. I am sure there are a lot of people who would gladly spend more. Its just about your budget and how you want to use it.
