    @speakeasy14 I've been asked to help plan my 10-year reunion (still on the fence about if I'm going to)... they have requested that each planner "donate" $200 to help secure the venues, and then we're going to charge per person for the actual events so we we can pay for the venues and make a donation to the school. I don't really have $200 right now to give, and since I keep up with almost everyone on FB, I don't really see the point of paying all that money to go. But yeah... that amount of money and lack of food/alcohol seems to be the current trend with reunions. It's a bit ridiculous.

    @speakeasy14 yeah true...but major fail was that there was only like 10 pizzas- it was pretty weak with the cash bar situation. 

    @eilis1228 so funny because the guy leading all of the planning for my reunion put down the deposit for the venue and was hounding people to go so he could get his money back from ticket sales. definitely don't put yourself in that position!

    @500days That's my exact concern! They seem confident that we'll get our money back, but I'm not sure I want to run that risk. The 2005 reunion was last month, and they seemed to have a pretty good turnout, but every time our reunion committee tries to host a meeting, no one shows. Doesn't bode well for the actual reunion!

    @eilis1228 don't do it. Or say you can help out, just not financially. 

    Why can't reunions just be a casual thing?  I don't understand this semi-formal nonsense when the people planning it do not have the funds to begin with.

    @speakeasy14 RIGHT?! What's wrong with pizza and BBQ at a park? Cheaper, more fun (in my opinion, at least), and everyone can bring their families. Easy peasy.
