Wedding Woes

Woman at the movie was completely unimpressed with me

This morning I took the kids to the movies.  10 am show of The Nut Job (older movie) tickets are $1.

Kids and I go in one side of the aisle there is a single woman sitting in the last seat on the other end.  We start to get settled when another woman and her kids meet the first woman.  I make sure they aren't expecting more and that they have plenty of seats.  There is a seat between her party and us.  She's already giving me the stink eye but agrees they don't need us to shift down.

I turn to M2 to open her twizzlers and hear "You shouldn't eat popcorn off the floor.  OH MY GOD DO YOU KNOW YOUR SON IS EATING POPCORN OFF THE FLOOR?!"  I thought that was the biggest stink eye until I responded, "it's not the worst thing he's done."

During the movie Max belches and says excuse me.  More stink eye.

Then Max gets his foot stuck in the seat.  I crawled over to get it out and he wasn't even being loud or crying.  This actually brought out a huge huff and "Some people shouldn't leave the house."

Good thing I'm home with my hooligans now.

  • Sounds like "The Nut Job" doesn't just descibe your movie....

It's on Netflix if she wanted to watch it in peace and quiet.

And not around other people or their kids.

I know we weren't the perfect movie patrons, but it wasn't opening night of 50 Shades.
  • Screw her.  I don't like sitting next to kids in a movie theatre.  I move.  It's that simple.  I can't imagine the older dollar movie was so full she couldn't move.  And she was already there with kids, so you'd think she would have some empathy.

We'd probably laugh if we saw a kid eating popcorn off the floor TBH.

I forgot to clarify that there was still a seat between her and Max so they weren't RIGHT next to each other.  There were a lot of kids with different needs there.  It was far from quiet and there was a lot of movement.

See, when Max stuck his face on the floor to get popcorn people laughed.  At least this time he used his hands right?  He's gross.  He eats mulch and licks handrails.

  • it's not like you took them to opening day of some R rated movie / it's not like they were being particularly disruptive. (and seriously, it was $1 day - it's not like she just shelled out $40 for the experience)

I tend to get annoyed at kids being at movies when it's not a movie for kids or they are overly disruptive and the parents don't take them out. (or if they are babies - babies don't have any business being at the movies.)
  • Yes, I assume her feet work, so why not move. Plus, it's a kid movie.

He eats mulch and licks handrails. I still dry heave at my friend telling me her son licked the entire side of the counter of the public rest room. However, he's still with us and didn't catch the plague.

  • That lady's hopes for the $1 19-month-old movie were way too high.

Our theater also does the $1 summer movie program.  I'm hoping they do it again next year.
  • My guess - she's the "aunt" who has the "My kids will NEVER" mentality LOL...  Karma will take care of things in time...

Yea - As much as it'd be great to take DS to the Minions, there's no way no how I'm taking a 3.5yo to a movie - can't imagine taking a baby!
