Wedding Woes

Friiiiiday!

What's up for the weekend?

I'm dropping off building permits today.  Last time I was missing 2 papers.  I have those papers so hopefully we'll be fully permitted by next week!

Teacher assignments come out officially today.  There was a way to cheat, but it has 6let's teacher as someone at a different school.  She may have changed schools, but I'm suspect.

We're going to a Browns scrimmage tonight (shoot me now)

I ordered 4 pairs of shoes from payless for $56.  Tax free weekend!  It's supposed to be for back to school, but alas I'm buying more for me than the kids.

Tomorrow I'm taking a cheese making class and having a back to school party.  The party is women only, kid free on a Saturday night.

Sunday is my family reunion.

Oh and my BIL should be a grandpa today.

Re: Friiiiiday!

  • Tonight:  Taking the kiddo to a friend's house in our old area and then going to see my friend up in the area.

Tomorrow: DH has to work in the morning.  DefConn and I are probably going to do some grocery shopping.  We have dinner out with DH's family (insert eyeroll for reasons).

Sunday: I have some work to do in the morning. I really want to go find a bike and maybe get a ride in.

The weather is supposed to be perfect.

    Congrats (?) to your BIL.

He just turned 36 and there is a huge CPS issue.  Congrats isn't the right word, but I'm not sure what is.

    A) He's the same age as DH and my brain cannot wrap around the thought of him (us) being grandparents.

    B ) CPS issue?  :-/
  • Also, there's a debate on teacher pay on my mom board and it's...interesting.  The person who made the original post is getting flamed (because she's ignorant and made some really tone-deaf statements considering how many are teachers or married to one).

    I'm definitely all:

    A) no shit.  I'm 40 and can't wrap my brain around it.

    B) the baby momma is living with her dad in a place with no hot water. He only wants her for the money. CPS can't do anything because "she's old enough to know right and wrong."  Things change when baby comes.  This is from SIL though so who knows.

    C) I'm not supposed to say it, but I think there is something shady about the due date.  I distinctly remember a game at the shower where you guessed the birthdate, weight, and length.  I asked when she was due, but don't remember the exact date.  I DO remember thinking "I'm throwing out my birthday.  It's a couple weeks late, but they may let her go that long."  My birthday was 2 weeks ago.

I'm not sure where the sunglass smiley face came from.  It was supposed to say B)
  • On point B...That sounds like the exact situation with my cousin's GF.  My aunt ended up getting guardianship of my cousin's GF (my cousin is only 19, I think and the GF is 17...so no consent laws are broken here...thankfully).   That whole situation is a shitshow.

Point C...Why lie about the due date?  That makes no sense.

    B )  I guess bullet points need to be 1, 2, 3 now

Disclaimer:  I don't know these people and would never accuse them of anything.  But in my personal experience (coworkers with sketchy relatives), sometimes due dates are lied about if if the man they're claiming as the father could not have fathered that child on the real timeline.  Again, not saying that's happening here, but it happened in a coworker's family and it eventually turned into a gigantic shitshow.

It's possible SIL just misspoke at the shower.  It's also possible someone lied for a good reason or just because.  It's also possible the mom just turned 17 and doesn't really know. It's a cluster.

As much as BIL annoys me he has been a really good dad to those kids and he'll be a good grandfather/father to the baby.  He's probably going to be the most stable man in that child's life.

  • DH and I are bickering about the swing set in the backyard, and I have been wearing him down with gifs.  I sent him the "Stand there in your wrongness" that Hmo uses, and when he replied that it was kind of funny, I sent him a Family Guy "it's funny 'cause it's true."  I am going to win this argument based on sheer gif volume.

Storms came through yesterday afternoon.  Nothing too bad at work, but the closer we got to home the more downed branches and scattered leaves we saw.  Then we got home and a branch on one of the big old oaks in the back yard had broken.  It's just hanging there now, half resting on another big limb.  My next project is calling an arborist.

(The swing set had also blown over, because DH "keeps meaning" to finish the back yard project, even though we've been in the house for a year now.  Hence the bickering.  I want to just hire someone, he says he can do it.  I say then do it already, he says he's been busy.  Which he has been.  So I say why don't we just hire someone, he says he can do it, ad infinitum.)

My mother is coming over tomorrow.  She sort of invited herself over, which is unusual for her.  She's been going through a rough patch at work, so I think she's kind of blue.  I mostly wanted to do nothing tomorrow, but Wooz is excited.
  • I'm waiting for a call back from the surgeon's office.  I'm still packing my incision from the June surgery but it's almost closed.  Earlier this week, I noticed a little redness and have been watching it closely.  Last night I felt some pain and see that it is more red, warm and firm to the touch.  So I'm waiting to see when they can see me today to check out what's going on.  I think I have some cellulitis and will need an antibiotic.  I'm so ready for this to be healed!

Tonight I need to do some shopping for birthday cards and presents and ingredients to make food for a family reunion on Sunday.

Saturday will be laundry and making food.  I'm also hoping to sleep in a bit as my butt has been dragging this week.

Sunday is DH's family reunion at noon.  It's about 1.5 hours from here.  Should be a good time and I hope the weather is good.  Sunday evening we are going out to dinner for my Mom's and Aunt's birthdays.  We may also be celebrating a cousin's engagement.  It will be a busy day.

  • I have nothing tonight, thank goodness.  This week has been super busy and I can use the down time.  Wedding tomorrow night.  Going to a play Sunday.
