Invitation Wording Question

Okay, so this is my second marriage, and my FH's first. I would prefer not to include my current last name on our invitations, but wasn't sure what the etiquette is for this. My last name is my ex-husband's and I didn't change it. Is it acceptable to use my first and middle and then FH's First M.I Last?

Re: Invitation Wording Question

  • How do most people know you?  Do they know you by your current last name?  Then I would use that.  Of course you can use whatever name you want, including your maiden name.

You use your full name.  You do not need to use the title "Mrs."
You changed your name when you were married.  That is now YOUR name, not your ex-husband's.

The pleasure of your company is requested
    at the marriage of
    Ms. Jane Ann Doe
    and
    Mr. John James Smith
    Day, date
    time o'clock
    Venue Name
    Address
    City, State

No big deal, unless you decide to make it one.  People know you by your legal name now.  You will soon change it.  Don't confuse people.

This is modern etiquette.  Traditional etiquette would have had you use the name "Mrs. Maidenname Doe".  You can still do that if you wish.
