  • Ditto @mrscomposer and @FeeleyToBe - we got a frame for a wedding present and I kept putting off ordering a picture for it until I had something else to order at the same time. The stock couple was cute enough and we actually got used to having them there on our mantel.

We call them our aunt and uncle who couldn't make it to the wedding.

I get it. If I were trying to do like a gallery wall or something with multiple frames, I might hang them to figure out sizing etc and then print photos for them.

There should totally be an app for this, so you can try out different photos in the frames too!

I hardly ever hang anything on the wall, especially not something as small as picture frames though, personally.

When I moved into my house they must have had quite the collection of teeny frames in the hallway, because there were about 50 nails!

We have a GIANT framed portrait of Bill Murray hanging on our living room wall. Long story. Picture frames don't have to be small ;)
My curiosity about this is totally peaked, as it is rather... unusual. I absolutely must know the story now.
lol it's not too exciting. When H started his job in the creative group they all went to a huge print conference in Chicago. One of the booths was giving away free canvas prints, so of course H had to pick the huge portrait of Bill Murray. He came home SO excited about it, it was hilarious.

The print ended up rolled up under the guest bed, so I snuck it out of the house and took it to a framing place to get it framed for him as an Xmas gift because he loved it so much and was dying to hang it up.

But it kind of backfired because then he insisted on hanging it dead-center of our living room, so it's the first thing you see when you walk in. Since I'm a Bill Murray fan and I've never seen H so excited about hanging something on a wall, I gave up and let him do it. Now every person who walks into our house reacts to it.

Awww, that's sweet. Sometimes you gotta give in and keep something around because your SO loves it. We have this painting of a water mill and farm scene hanging over our bed in our bedroom that I find really cheesy and ugly. But it has serious sentimental value for my H: the scene is from the small town in Iowa where his parents grew up, and he has very fond memories of visiting the mill when he would visit his grandmother, who was basically the closest person to him before he met me, and she passed away about 5 years ago. So the painting's been growing on me...
  • I bought a frame and put a photo from a calendar in it. So that's kind of a stick picture. #sorrynotsorry, that frame looks awesome in the guest bathroom.

  • I can't add words to the above photo, but this reminded me of this thread

  • I've done that, but only with wedding photos a few months ago. We picked out frames first and then decided what photos we wanted to go in them, so it took a while to decide where to put them (on shelves or where on the wall), put them up, and then decide which photos and then get them printed. It was probably less than a couple weeks with empty frames. I think that's the only time I've done that. I usually only buy a frame if I already have a picture I know I'm going to put in it.

Someone gave my sister and me a picture frame that said "Sisters" on it, when we lived together.  There were two Asian sisters in the stock photo.  We always kept that stock photo in the frame and pretended they were our sisters to anyone who asked.  I don't know if that helped or hurt your poll.
