Pre-Hair Trial Appointment (Pic heavy)

We did a trial for my trial yesterday. lol.

This is basically what we're going for:
image

We had to play around a lot with the bump because of how heavy my veil is. Keep in mind these pics are very unpolished. We were just playing around with basic ideas. For example, my hair is curled four different ways so we could see which method we liked best. We definitely still need to work on the bump. Here are a ton of pics:

Re: Pre-Hair Trial Appointment (Pic heavy)

  • That sucks that the heavy veil is making the hairdo harder. I think it looks gorgeous though, and will be so awesome with the bump figured out. I'm glad you explained about the curls, haha. You are going to be a stunner of a bride!

  • Adore, adore, adore!  What curls are you leaning towards?  In the second picture of you, I love the one closest to the left.  You look stunning!!

SAME! I love that particular curl!

    Great style, love it!

  • I love it!  And I agree on that particular curl.

Your veil is stunning, even if it is a little heavy...totally worth it, IMO.
  • @TwoDimes Thanks! I think that's my natural color. I actually plan to dye it next week to be more of a dark auburn. :-P Thanks for the tip on the bump! I think you're exactly right! It just looks so unnatural as it currently is, but my stylist was focused on figuring out the right proportions so that the bump stayed a bump once we put the veil in. The veil is so heavy that our first bump attempts fell completely after we put it on. I think starting further up will help make it look more natural, plus it will give it a bit more strength. I also suggested that we use a sock or fabric or something to give it a bit more strength. We shall see!

    Re: the curl
We're going with that particular curl. I loved it too! We're going to have them going in different directions though so that my hair doesn't end up clumped together as one curl.

  • I love it and the veil is so pretty.

  • I agree about the bump too. Your inspiration picture starts gathering at the ears and goes straight back, while yours leaves all that sides down by the ears and just gathers at the top. I think a "bump it" or sock bun would definitely help add volume you're looking for without necessarily adding to the height, because it looks really high but not that wide/ thick. I know this wasn't even the real trial though so it's an awesome start! Yay!

  • Yup, have the bump start more forward.  Aside from that, I agree with the left curl. And your veil is gorgeous.

  • Keep in mind that model probably has a shit load of extensions in too - so its hard to make it look exactly without that crazy thickness. But I agree with the bump, if you have a hair rat/sock bun kinda thing to put in there, it will help keep the volume. I'm not sure if you wanted the braid to be so prominent (in the insp pic its more subtley twisted in) but it creates a hard part on the right side. It looks like the insp pic (cant see the other side) doesnt have a part and is more 'gathered' up. Overall I think it looks nice, I really like your hair colour! I bet darker will look nice and dramatic with your dress & veil.

  • I should have mentioned that I found the inspiration pic after my appointment. We weren't really working from anything in particular, just going over ideas that we liked. Afterwards I went home and looked on Pinterest and Google Image for a culmination of all the things we liked so that next time we have a little more direction. Basically our goal last night was "soft and romantic." We tried out a few other looks too, but that was our favorite of the 3.

I texted my stylist about the Bump It, and she said they don't work that well and look weird. Sadness.

I'm not too worried about thickness and all that. I have hella thick hair, and it's ridiculously long. It should be able to support almost any hair style we go with. Even if it doesn't look exactly like that pic above, I'll be happy.

@teddygirl9 We may drop the braid and twist the hair back instead. Ran out of time last night to do much more experimenting.

Thanks for all the feedback, ladies! :)

  • I love it!!! The veil is stunning, totally worth figuring out the hair logistics! Haha
  • @eilis1228 oh yeah the bump its look ridiculous.  I had one when they were trendy, only wore it for Halloween and looked like one of the Jersey Shore cast members.

Show her stuff like this where the bump starts up more, and makes it fuller:

@speakeasy14 Thank you! I especially love the second one you posted! She told me we'll play around with the bump more next week when I go back to get my hair dyed.

  • This is not you @eilis1228 but it reminded me, an acquaintance of mine posted her sister's wedding on FB and the bride had a massive, hairsprayed bump right at the hairline/forehead. All I could think was how terrible and "jersey shore" it looked!

  • First of all you're gorgeous!! Your hair is so pretty and I'm jealous. I like the half up half down style a lot! That's what I went with for my wedding as well. I agree with @labro on the bump though...it's not my favorite but I love everything else about it, especially that side braid! I think if the bump was placed differently or maybe a little less high then it would look better in my opinion. I think your stylist just needs to play with it more.

Thanks, @labro! That pic is a good representation of what we're going for. I sent it to my stylist.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I promise that this was by no means a finished look. :) We were just playing around with different concepts. The curls will look better, the bump will look better, the braid will look better, and the part will look better. My stylist 100% agrees that the bump looks a hot mess in those pics. She was just playing around with different heights to see what the veil would do. Here are pics from our first experiment just to show you guys what the veil did to the more subtle bump:
