Finally Friday!

Re: Finally Friday!

  • @swazzle - Pic of your outfit? Ooh, I can't wait to see The Martian. I'll make DH take me next weekend (setting a reminder on my phone right now). I enjoyed the book, and can totally imagine Matt Damon being awesome in it.

@jenjen047 - I heard someone talking about the B&BW candles in the elevator yesterday.

@twodimes - What a cute invitation. It doesn't really scream 'baby shower' to me, but that might be okay?

@beachyone15 - Ugh, that sucks! Invest in a couple of box fans in the meantime to air things out. I'm hopeful that if it was just leaking for one night, that you won't need to worry about mold. FINGERS CROSSED!

Last night we had BA Spiced turkey and chickpeas. It was yummy but they are SO MUCH WORK. I definitely think we're leaning towards going with HC. I have leftovers today, though, which is nice. After that, I spent about two hours watching videos of Duchess Kate. I'm borderline obsessed with what it must REALLY be like to be her. Like not fantasy-land 'ooh look at all the pretty clothes and tiaras' but how much time she must spend getting her hair done and trying on dresses and my god how does she always look so INTERESTED in what people are saying? Like she never once cracks!

Today we got to wear football jerseys to work, so I'm sporting my Buffalo Bills jersey (even though the player, CJ Spiller, doesn't play for them anymore), plus jeans and boots. I am SO COMFY! It was also really nice that it wasn't blazing hot out, so when I got done at Crossfit and showered, I wasn't immediately all hot and sweaty again.

DH is going to pick up a wetvac from one of my employees so that we can monitor our basement this weekend. We officially cancelled plans to go down to Richmond, so it will be a long weekend of movies and drinking. I NEED to run five miles on either Saturday or Sunday, and I'm thinking about going to Crossfit on Saturday just to get out of the house.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Thanks everyone for letting me vent. The good news is that it's covered by our insurance. Bad news is we have to pay the $1,000 deductible (possibly more if they find mold). I might take off early because I can't focus here at work knowing that our carpet and baseboards are being ripped up.

  • Thanks to you people I've already placed a Kohl's order this morning...

Black jeggings (the ones @swazzle just linked to), green jeggings, and an cute top I could wear with either. Thanks!

I'm still sick, ugh. AND I have two events this weekend - both outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be 53 with showers, but Sunday should be almost 60. Hopefully I'm not too miserable. They are my last two weekend events of the year, so that's helpful.

I really want to tag everyone & respond, but I'm being lazy, I'm really sorry. I love you all!!

  • @beachyone15 hopefully insurance covers! that's terrible :( is the warranty still on the dishwasher? what a rough morning :(

@TwoDimes I felt like that on Tuesday :( and those are adorable invites!!

    ----------

Met my mum last night and did some groceries. I love her, but she is so frustrating sometimes urg ....

Since Matt was out, I got home and did tidying.

Tonight we're picking up other stuff. Walmart for an xmas gift - keurig with cup or caraffe option for $88! Hello to my mother's gift! We'll also pick up a few other things to go with it, like coffees or lattes, etc that she likes.

We have a few other stops, which I may get Matt to do tomorrow while I study and do homework.
Also, tomorrow my friend B is coming over. Her and her bf are going to 2 weddings tomorrow and I'm doing her makeup. Then later Matt and I are going to a bday dinner for our friend A. I have hunted for a card or gift or something .... nothing! She's rarely this hard to buy for :(

I might be hanging out with A and S on Sunday for tea stuff, but not until later and that's only if S doesn't go to Montreal for a funeral. A may still come over to try some of what I have.

I think I have to vacuum my bed and wash everything. I'm not sure if they're zits or bites of some sort, but might as well do it to be safe!

This is beginning of my busy weekends lol
  • @beachyone15 good luck! Hopefully there is no mold! You need some wine and chocolate ASAP!
    image
  • @twodimes   A cheesy dip is always a good option.  Actually I pinned THIS greek layer dip the other day and have been really wanting to try it. What does the guest of honor like to eat/is able to eat right now?
    image
  • @cu97tiger - I will take one when I go to the bathroom again! Which will be soon as I've had 2 coffees and I'm on my 2nd water of the day. My bladder will be very active today :) I hope your basement stays as dry as possible!

@GoldenPenguin - Yay for shopping!!! I hope you love the pants as much as I do! They're apart of my personal uniform.

@TwoDimes - How about something in the crockpot? That way you have a hot option and it's also simple. Meatballs could be a good option? Just have rolls and cheese on the side and people can help themselves.

  • @swazzle I might turn off the jewelery too. I've received 2 pieces so far and they're definitely not worth the price. I have browsed ThredUp but it's a little overwhelming! I just donate my clothes that are in good condition because I definitely wouldn't get any money for the brands I buy and nothing ever still has tags on it.

@TwoDimes maybe some brunch type food since it's still pretty early? I think I went to a shower at that time and they had breakfast and lunch options. Maybe some muffins and pastries?

Ugh they're doing some kind of work on the gas meters at our house I guess. Realtor called me last night to let me know they'd be there around 8 and we'd have no electricity at that time. I said fine since H is sleeping then. But now it's after 11 and they're still there. H needs to go to work and he has no electricity to cook food and no hot water to shower! And no car to get anywhere to do those things somewhere else. I'm really irritated.

  • @beachyone15 - Good luck!

    @goldenpenguin - Feel better!!

    @twomdimes - Maybe a casserole?
  • @TwoDimes what's she craving? I've seen people have a baby shower with a good portion is what the mama-to-be is craving :)
  • @lavenderfields13 - I just sort things on the left (my size -- unchecking the 'include similar sizes' box) then further down I select 'only new with tags' and I usually sort out price too. Most of the stuff I sent them was from Old Navy and I was going to donate it anyway so I figured I'd see if I could get anything for any of it. I was surprised! Anything they don't give you money for they donate.

@TwoDimes - Have I posted my favorite cheesy dip for you ever?  I can't remember if I did but its awesome.  Its a cold cheese dip but it goes like wildfire at parties...here is the LINK I jazz it up a bit more and throw in some cheddar, use more garlic (I love garlic) and add a few other ingredients but as-is its great.  Roasting the garlic makes a huge difference.  As far as main dishes, mac'n'cheese is always a main dish in my books. ;)

  • @swazzle - Dangit! I wore that top earlier this week. We are terrible at coordinating. ;) Good luck on your 5k!

@beachyone15 - I am so sad to hear about the water leaking! That is awful and I'm sorry you guys have to deal with it. I don't blame you for wanting to leave early.

@TwoDimes - That's going to be such a cute theme! I vote hot meat item, like meatballs or lil smokies (maybe wrapped in crescent rolls?).

@lavenderfields13 - Don't worry too much about hair growing back in. About a week after appt. 4, all but about 4 hairs on either side were gone from my underarms. Then 4-5 weeks later it looked like ALL the hair had grown back in, but it was really light and soft. My tech said that is exactly what' supposed to happen because hair growth goes through cycles, and I am on track to have no hair left after appt. 6.

However, the bikini area is much more sensitive to hormones. I will probably have to do 7 or 8 treatments on that area because it's not on as regular of a cycle through its phases. Don't lose hope! It will work. The lower area is just more stubborn.

    ----------------------------------

Yesterday I wasn't on TK because I had a meeting at work all morning. They told us that my group is probably moving to another office, which would suck because everyone we work closely with is in the building we're in now. People were getting angry, and I felt bad for the messenger, even if no one was directly blaming him.

I had my 5th laser appointment yesterday afternoon. It hurt, because the laser got ramped up again. I found my happy place, thinking of the ocean, and ice cream, and waterfalls. It totally helps! That's how I get through tattoo appointments too. But I took the rest of the afternoon off and sat around in loose pj pants with an ice pack on my vag.

Tonight we have to clean because my BF's parents are visiting in the morning. There is a lure course available at a local dog park in the morning, so I'm hoping they'll want to go with me to take the dog to that. I hope he actually chases it and his ADD doesn't kick in from just wanting to play with people. All I know is, he won't give up if a squirrel's in his sight.

Sunday I am sincerely hoping to be a huge bum!

  • @swazzle - I have the prettiest sisser in all of the land. <3

@jenjen047 I have an unhealthy obsession with Bath & Body candles. Must...Avoid...

@TwoDimes I love that baby shower invite design! Especially that it's not the standard pastel shades.

@speakeasy14 They'd try to spit it out in your hand? What kind of civilized human does that?

Yesterday I was on the road for work, and it was a bit stressful since I had to finish everything in one day. I managed to get it all done though!

After work BF picked me up and we went to his synagogue for a Sukkot gathering. It was a lot of fun, had some great food and beers.

Today at work we are having a "tailgate party," so we got to wear jeans and our favorite sports team's colors/attire. I wanted to wear a shirt from my college, but I'm realizing college was a bit longer ago than I thought, so all my shirts are a bit small. Found a long sleeve that fits, but it's kind of short, so I can't lift my hands up. Luckily the tailgate lunch is outside and I have a hoodie that fits. I just didn't want to feel like a traitor all day wearing the other state school's colors, even though I go to their games more often!

Tonight I think I've convinced BF to come over and help me eat some leftovers and then go to a haunted house. The next couple weekends are going to be too busy to do any Halloween stuff so I feel like I might as well start now! Maybe I'll decorate on Sunday while I do my long overdue laundry.

  • Well, I know what I'm making for dinner....assuming I have a kitchen to cook in when I get home...leaving in a few - hope you all have a great weekend (or at least one that is better than mine!!!)

  • @AlPacina good to know - I have 8 appts scheduled and tomorrow is only on my 3rd so I'm not too worried but I was a little surprised.

So my electricity is still off- if they've been there since 8 that means my fridge hasn't been on for over 4 hours. Do you think my food has gone bad? I'm going to be seriously pissed!!

    @swazzle, good luck shopping tomorrow!

@buddysmom80, have fun with your long weekend!

@cocobellaf, enjoy your coffee and book this evening.

    @lavenderfields13, glad you survived year-end.

@minskat30, let me know how The Martian is if you get to it.

@jenjen047, what look did you have in mind for you and your FI for engagement photos?

@beachyone15, ick! I hope the damage isn't that bad.

    @twodimes, cute invitations!

@speakeasy14, good luck installing the vanity!
    ---
Tonight is gaming, as usual. I've got some knitting and crocheting to work on. Hopefully we get done kind of early so we can tackle a little housework.

Tomorrow is busy - my mom is dropping off what's left of her inventory, my uncle is coming over to talk headboards with H and I, and in between I'm cleaning like a madwoman because I would be embarrassed by my house. It's not bad, just ... I wouldn't want people to see it, you know?

Sunday I'm putting my feet up, knitting/crocheting, and watching football. It's my worst bye week for fantasy, so we'll see how that goes. Maybe if I get some time (read: my team sucks), I'll go through my closet and pull clothing to donate.

ETA: Gah forgot to tell yesterday's funny story. I checked out SIL's wedding website yesterday and H was listed as an usher, which was news to us. He called her last night to ask her about it, which led to her saying, "... Didn't we talk about it? No? Well, will you?"
  • @TwoDimes - I texted @labro and will let you know when I hear back!

@peaseblossom55 That's so weird that you can handle dairy again now- but that's awesome. I don't know what I'd do if I had to live without cheese. I couldn't.

I was thinking of making four cheese pasta for dinner tonight but everything in my fridge may be bad now!

  • @lavenderfields13 It is so strange, it happened when I became pregnant.  I hope it's permanent though :-)  I really hope everything in your fridge is ok and not ruined.  If you are not at home can you buy some ice store some stuff in coolers?

  • Swazzle said:
OHHHHH! You should make @labro's Crockpot Mac & Cheese recipe!!!!

    CROCK POT MACARONI AND CHEESE

1 8-oz box of elbow macaroni

1 8-oz can of evaporated milk

    ¾ cup whole milk

    2 eggs, slightly beaten

    ½ -1 stick butter

    ½ t pepper (optional)

    4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

    Parmesan cheese

Cook macaroni according to directions on box.  Drain.  Mix with all ingredients, leaving 1 cup of cheddar cheese aside.  Put in crock pot coated with Pam.  Top with remaining cheddar cheese and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top.

Cook on low for 3 hours.

I NEED TO SAVE THIS NOW BECAUSE I KEEP FORGETTING IT AND I WANT TO MAKE IT *drool*

@lavenderfields13, if you have left the fridge door closed and the electricity comes back on soon, it should still be okay. The freezer might be another story, though.
I second this! Depends on freezer.
Too bad it isn't winter. I'd suggest throwing your freezer stuff in the snow! We had to do that one year when there was a huge ice storm. Nothing went bad, but we avoided opening the fridge/freezer at all costs

Ugh. My day just took a turn. My mom just let me know that my dog died. I had gotten her as a 3-day old puppy when I was in high school volunteering at a veterinary hospital. I was up with her every couple hours to feed her when I was a teenager. She's lived with my parents since I left for college. This past weekend when I brought BF over to my parents I could tell she was having trouble getting around, but she seemed ok. She loved BF though, which was something considering she doesn't like many people. RIP Reese. I'm a complete wreck at work right now. :'(

  • @wink0erin - I'm obsessed with them too. I always have between 8-12 in my house. ETA: So sorry to hear about your dog. HUGS. That is so sad.

@keptinstitches: These pictures are my inspiration for everything (location, style, outfits, etc): LINK Good luck with fantasy!

@lavenderfields13 - Good luck with the fridge.
