Budget friendly favor ideas?

We are having a rather large wedding, 250 people or so. I'm tired of getting kooziez from every wedding I go to but looking at them financially, they're great. I'm looking for favors under $2 each. Does anyone have any favors they received that they loved?

I'd either do food or just forgo favors and put that money towards an upgrade/something else.

I know we will be having a candy buffet that guests can munch on during and take some home if they please. Whatever is left we get to take with us, it's a win/win/win!

Favors aren't required, so if you can't think of anything, just save your money.

If you really feel you want to have one, just have a cookie for each person. Or a bag or candy. That's something you could DIY for a lot less than $2/each

The most budget-friendly favor is none at all. Short of that, something edible like candy is good.

I did pralines and turtles (wrapped and packaged by the candy maker). They were a huge hit and were just about $2.00 per piece. I selected these b/c we had a lot of out of town guests so I didn't want to give out something useless that they would have to toss or transport and pralines are a local treat down here in Nola that many guests had never tried before.

Agree with PPs, favors are an unnecessary expense if you're trying to cut your budget.

We are having about 225 at our wedding, so close to your numbers. We are not doing favors. Honestly even if we only had 50 people I still would not do them. They are not required and I know that even some of the weddings that had food favors I forgot to take mine home. Just money left on the table.

Candy. A friend did the personalized m&ms... but she put them in the freezer (afraid they would melt) which was really stupid because the color rubbed off. I'm doing trailmix because we are avid hikers. Anything food works. The only non food item I saw which was fun was scratch off tickets. Those were a hit.

While the trail mix sounds awesome, I'd be wary of including nuts in a favor. Never know if someone is allergic, and to what degree. But something edible for sure for favors. I'm going with honey stix - 2 per person, to also combine with escort cards so they can just all be arranged all pretty on a table.

Definitely something to keep in mind, lurkers. While technically there's a slim possibility for a guest to be allergic to basically any edible favor, nut allergies are fairly common.

Choclate and it's fairly easy to do it yourself too. If you have a cool dark place that you can store it inside of a air tight container, they will last and you can make them easily a month in advance. You can invest in a few molds and then a few sets each night & before long, you'll be done. Or you can opt for making your own chocolate covered Oreos, drizzle them with chocolate maybe in your wedding colors & then put them in individual pages. Just to warn you, to get really good coverage, you may have to do two coats. Depending on how pricing runs in your area, you can probably make 250 cookies for about $75.00 which comes to about .30 per favor.

My sister did the candy buffet (her own), which was a hit and my brother didn't even have anything. Honestly, I didn't even realize he didn't have any until I read this post, and tried to think back on it. In short, no one even notices!

I found these great truffles rolled in cocoa at Costco...124 pieces ( they are little but very rich and yummy) for $11 in San Antonio. If you grab 9 boxes you can give everyone 4 truffles for under $100. Plus like $20 at Wal-Mart for favor boxes.

When we moved out west, eight years ago, we threw out a ton of stuff - including a few "cute" wedding favors that we didn't need or want.
Chocolate is never wasted.
The hotel we stayed at in Antwerp, Belgium, last month presented us with a welcome gift of a box of two truffles. Yum!
