Re: It's Tuesday, chatters unite!

  • I'm sorry about the termites @labro - I hope it is an easy fix.  Those bastards are terrible.
  • well since we've already fallen down the rabbit hole...

Butt water -- there was a video of a stripper doing something similar.  Except they put a funnel in her butt, filled it up, and then she shot it at everyone sitting around the stage.

  • @minskat30 Yeah, the damage is from 2007. The termites were gotten rid of a long time ago, they just never did anything exploratory looking for damage apparently? I don't think it'll be anything huge but we won't know until we remove more of the drywall.

  • I'm not a Tosh fan either, but once I saw an episode with a bunch of people running marathons on treadmills. I remember that one being funny.

@Swazzle - Yay for good news from the doctor!
@jenjen047 - that bracelet is really pretty! I'm sure your BMs will love it!
@labro - I also hate the stupid quote tree. Sometimes they get so ridiculously long that the original post is only shown one letter per line and I'm always thinking "why are you doing this?! Just tag people!

I realize that I responded to pretty much no one but knotting from my phone is a bitch, but I promise I read everyone's posts! I'm at work but my client is napping so I have time for some knotting, yay! My mom is currently driving me crazy with the damn guest list. If it were up to me I'd invite about 50 people and be done with it. But I sent her a copy of the almost 100 people we'd come up with almost two weeks ago, never heard anything, so text her today asking if she got it and she's like oh yeah I've been adding and subtracting people. Ugh, I just want to finish the fucking list already. I don't want 99% of the people she's inviting there but have accepted that since my parents are paying they can invite whoever they want but its just people I have never met and I know my parents have seen/talked to I years and I'm just like "why?!"

ETA: I love Tosh! I haven't seen anything recent though :(

RE: Tosh... I think he's a jerk. He did a standup at my college and was a huge douchebag to the audience throughout, like he kept saying things that weren't even remotely funny, just offensive, made fun of our state, and then instead of changing his tone to tell funnier stuff (and perhaps lighter fare than abortion jokes) he just sat down on a stool on stage, stopped talking, and just counted down minutes. People left pissed. Also he was SUPER rude to my two friends that were working the venue in the backstage area. His show is moderately funny sometimes, but the gross stuff makes me wanna gag.

    @untouchablets Yessss....

  • @wink0erin I lol'd so loud I scared the dogs!
  • @bethsmiles - I wanted to message you about something recently and I can't for the life of me remember what it was. It's driving me NUTS.

  • Speaking of awesome TV shows (and inspired by @swazzle's gif), I also loved Community! Even though it eventually got lame. Like most sitcoms. Did anyone else watch it?

    image

@wink0erin - Meh, that's his style of humor. If they weren't willing to be made fun of, they shouldn't have gone. That's kind of his thing. Although I'm never a fan of someone being rude to staff. That's awful......... But on that note: I'd like to hate Adele (who I've heard is a bitch, particularly to staff at venues) and Michael Jackson (who molested children), but I'll continue being a fan anyway, haha.

  • @swazzle - Remember damn it! Also I finally finished The Stand, the last 500ish pages I couldn't put down!

  • @AlPacina Yeah, I get that it's his style, but he was really being super nasty about being in my state and had said he never wanted to be there, etc... and then he told almost nothing but abortion jokes. Even his big fans that went to that show were saying they were disappointed, esp since he stopped saying anything in the last 15 min. The rudeness to staff just sealed it for me.

@bethsmiles - Ugh sorry about the guest list, but you're keeping a good attitude about it. Any other wedding updates? Wow I can't believe your ticker is already down to 9 months!

ETA: @wink0erin - How awkward to just sit there for 15 minutes without talking. I'd be pissed too.

Unrelated/sort of related: I got a massage on Saturday night and towards the end the masseuse said "I have a few minutes left, is there any particular area you want me to focus on or do you want to end early?". Who the hell would want to end early? I'd like my full massage please.
  • @bethsmiles Your mom sucks. I get the whole "she who pays gets a say" but JFC you're the one getting married here!!!

  • @bethsmiles - Maybe that was it! I think I wanted to know what you thought of the end of the book! I was the same way, I could-not-stop.

  • @jenjen047 - Not much in the way of wedding updates. FI and I keep pushing back doing engagement pictures because we get busy on the weekends but we need to do them this month.
@labro - this is basically exactly what I expected of my mom during the planning process. Its really frustrating but I'm learning to pick my battles. I wouldn't invite these people but I won't care if they are there, plus I think most will decline since they are all OOT.
@Swazzle - I really loved the end, I do wish he could have gotten there in fewer pages though!

  • @bethsmiles - Did you read the original version or the extended version?

  • @Swazzle - Extended, I didn't realize that was the edition I had downloaded until I was about halfway through

  • @bethsmiles - That's the one I read too but I picked it on purpose. I wonder what exactly was cut from the original. I want to watch the '94 miniseries. I've heard they're making it into a movie (for the theaters) AND I heard another TV series too. Not sure if that's all entirely true.

  • @twodimes did you fangirl?

  • @bethsmiles - Don't feel bad....FI and I just did our engagement pics a month ago. STDs went out a long time ago so the pics won't really be used for anything....except maybe an Xmas card?

@Swazzle - Oh I'd really love to see it as a miniseries or movie!
@jenjen047 - I'm hoping we can use them for STDs but if not it will still be fun to have some nice pictures of us. Almost all the ones we have are selfies lol
@TwoDimes - that's so cool that she waved to you!

  • @bethsmiles - Absolutely! Plus it's great practice for the wedding. I've already seen things I want to do differently.
  • @GoldenPenguin what happened? I missed your update on your injury but I am glad (insert body part here) is not broken! Welcome to the club though :/

@beanbot2002 OMG Greyhounds! My first dog ever was a greyhound. I love them so much. Even if the one I had did drag 8 year old me through a field when he took off at full speed toward my parents lol.

@bethsmiles I'm sorry your mother is stressing you out about the guest list. I can't remember, do you have a venue yet? Just make sure that you (and/or her) don't invite more than the venue can hold and take into account vendors for the max capacity (which I am sure you know, but figured I would say it anyways).

Work has been crazy. But my project was delayed so I finally have some free time today. I start physical therapy tomorrow, but there hasn't been much improvement in my leg yet.

The wedding we had planned to attend in NY in June was called off. I feel bad for my friend, and texted her to ask if she was okay, but don't know many details. However, I am a little relieved, because flights were very expensive that weekend, and it meant I probably wouldn't be able to afford to go to my other friend's shower or bachelorette, or have any of those of my own. Now it looks like I can afford to go to at least one pre-wedding party for my friend, and hopefully fly back for a weekend for a shower and possible bachelorette party for me.

And don't worry, I know better than to plan my own. My mother and aunts have been asking me when I want a shower, and my friends/bridesmaids have been asking about a bachelorette party and the shower as well. They have been waiting on me to make the final call as to whether or not I can swing flying back to NY for these events, and it looks like I can now, so I will double check the dates with everyone, book my flight(s), and be mostly hands off from there.

However, I am a little iffy about having my shower and bachelorette party on the same day. Do you guys think that would be okay?

    And questions:

    Favorite lip gloss?
Sugar Advanced Therapy (don't know if it counts as lip gloss but I love it)

    What is your "fall uniform"?
Dark jeans and a sweater or possibly tank top with cardigan, and sneakers. I have yet to find a comfortable pair of cute boots to wear.

Post a picture of something on your wish-list.
    These diamond earrings:

What is your favorite popcorn flavor?
    Kettle Corn

How do you like to tie your scarves?
I normally don't tie my scarves. If I do, it is a knot in the front. But normally I wear them just wrapped around my neck.

  • @AuroraRose41 - Oh no! Sorry your foot isn't making much progress. Also sorry to hear about your friend's wedding. Was it her decision or her FIs? As far as shower and bachelorette go, I think it makes sense to do them on the same weekend if travel is involved. One of my BMs lived in NC when she got married in RI and she did that.

@jenjen047 thanks. I hope it is better before Thanksgiving! And she didn't tell me many details, but she did tell me that she was blindsided by it, so it was definitely his decision. I told her to let me know if she needed to talk about anything and that I was here for her. She was really worried that we had booked our flights already; luckily we hand't yet.

And thanks for the shower/b-party opinion! I wasn't sure if that would be too much, but two of my bridesmaids would have to travel, in addition to 3 of my cousins that I want to invite to both events, so it would help to keep costs and possible vacation time limited for a good amount of people too. I just worry that it would be too much for my friends to plan! I will run it by them and see what they think.

ETF: random capitalized word in the middle of a sentence....

  • @AuroraRose41 - It is a lot to plan but if there is a good reason for doing it like that and they have enough notice it should be fine. Plus it's up to them. If they think it's too much they don't have to plan it that way. It's not like you are demanding it be like that.

Also I know it's late but I just saw that Victoria's Secret is doing 25% off any single item and free shipping on all orders for the next hour! Codes are freeship and item25
