  • That is highway robbery @TwoDimes!

As to the doggie discussion.  I know Raj is huge and not everyone is in to ginormous, fluffy, adorable dogs with freckles...crazy people mostly.  ;)  I don't take Raj everywhere with me...he isn't going to India obviously because he'd be mobbed....oh and, yeah, the 30 hours of travel too.  He comes with us to my sister's for holidays because she has two dogs already and she knows how much we love him and how much work it would be to board him around the holidays when boarders are so busy.  Her dogs (even the bratty one) would be welcome at our home too.  I just feel bad for @cu97tiger's situation that her family feels so strongly about not inviting the dogs.  I get that it isn't the most convenient to have a bunch of people and pets in your house around the holidays but I feel like that is what the holidays are all about...fun chaos.  Of course, someone legitimately afraid of dogs or allergic, I understand...one kiddo usually invited to my sister's during Christmas is afraid of Raj and when he (the kiddo) comes over, Raj obviously gets put in a bedroom with cookies or outside.
  • @labro - I LOVE that idea! I was wondering what I would do with my bouquet and that sounds really nice! Please send a pic when you can. :)
  • @untouchablets This is what I have to say to dogs in crowded public places! :P

  • Rant:  The chauvinist pig who walks by and tells me to smile every day.  Why the hell do you think it is ok to walk past a woman who is busy working and tell her to smile!?!  This has been going on for months, I've gotten to the point that I glare at him and say no.  He thinks it is funny and now makes it a point to walk by the desk numerous times a day.

  • @TwoDimes I did that too! My ornaments turned out so so, but I did a large apothecary vase with the nicest ones and used the other nice ones in shadow boxes. I also did ornaments with cut up and curled strips of extra invitations and I think those were some of my favorites too!

  • @speakeasy14 - I'm assuming the chauvinist pig is a co-worker? Why haven't you said anything to HR?

Hate, hate, hate this.  I get this at the gym by random guys and I just glare at them or roll my eyes.  If it was a repeat offender, I would stop and tell him how demeaning it is to tell a woman "smile" as if women are just supposed to be happy beautiful creatures for men to admire.  Is this someone you work with?  If so and this has been going on for months, I wouldn't just tell him "no" I'd tell the asshole to stop harassing me or I'll be bringing it up with HR.
  • @bethsmiles because it's useless.  They can't really handle much (our HR that is).  The unfortunate way of handling these types of issues is to ignore it with a "Oh that's just Bob."

  • @minskat30 I like that, and will be saying that next time.  He also has a young daughter that works here, so I can completely flip it to asking if he'd like men to treat his daughter the way he treats me.

  • @speakeasy14 - Oh that sucks, having crappy HR is the worst.

  • @twodimes - I love that! I need to research all the fun things I can do with my leftover flowers.

Ask him when the last time he told a man to smile was.
  • @speakeasy14 - At this point, I would straight up ignore him. It sounds like he's trying to get a rise out of you so I would stop responding at all. Pretend he doesn't exist.

  • The (always male) customers here love to call me "smiley" because I have the chronic bitch face and I ALWAYS react negatively when I am told to smile. I do not tolerate it. I don't care if I'm behind the counter and supposed, I call them out every single time. Of course they think it's funny and now I have a nickname but oh well I'm leaving in four days so they can suck it.
  • I can't recall a man ever telling me to smile, it boggles my mind that this is a daily occurrence for some. I do hate it when people call me darlin', sweetheart, or anything like that. It happened all the time at the credit union and it always pissed me off.

@bethsmiles I have a Resting Bitch Face so people have said that to me a lot. If I already look pissed off you think you telling me to smile is going to make me less pissed off??
edited because i can't type and ended up in a box :(
