The real Friday

So last night I came home to two packages. One was my wine delivery, the other was a giant tin of popcorn from @eilis1228!!  There was McKinney style (caramel and jalapeno),  buffalo style, and loaded potato.  I may have devoured most of the loaded potato.  Surprisingly I was able to handle the McKinney, but that is probably because of the caramel.

Tonight's goal is to finish the kitchen.  It was supposed to happen yesterday, but I wanted nothing to do with it and ditched my bf for sleep.  I think tomorrow we're helping my sister and BIL finish their basement.  Not sure what else we'll be doing.

Re: The real Friday

  • @speakeasy14 I've never been tempted to try any popcorn other than the basic flavors- butter, salt and sometimes cheese. That's nice of you to be helping your sister and BIL when you guys have stuff going on at your house too. When you posted about your refrigerator the other day it reminded me of my cousin's house. He was supposed to finish the kitchen like 8 years ago and hasn't and they still don't have a stove I think. I don't even understand how they've lived like that for so long!

Yesterday I left work early. H was annoying when I got home. He's been telling me all week that I'm not sick, it's just my allergies. I think I know my body best, thank you very much. I slept for a little bit and then watched Degrassi Junior High for the rest of the day/night on Amazon Prime. @alpacina's Degrassi marathon awhile ago reminded me I wanted to watch it. I had never watched the older Degrassi and the Junior High ones in the 80's are just hilarious. The hair and clothes are so bad. Also, Canadians have weird accents.:p Oh and I ordered a mattress topper! I got the highest rated one on Amazon and it was only $90. I still had a $100 AMEX GC that was a wedding present so I used that so it was free. I hope it helps! I'll hold off on ordering a new pillow until I see if the topper helps.

I really didn't want to come to work today but I dragged myself out of bed. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep all day if I stayed home and H worked a double last night and now is getting a few hours sleep before he has to go back to to work. I didn't want to be home making any noise to disturb him. After work I'll probably be lazy and watch more Degrassi.

Tomorrow is the holiday fair with MIL. I should feel fine tomorrow to go to that although I'm still really not looking forward to it. Saturdays are my days that I usually spend alone and I really enjoy that time.

  • Good morning! I'm dragging today. Last night I went to see the Phantom of the Opera and it was such a great show. I had never seen it before but really enjoyed it. The music and set changes were amazing! Anyway, I didn't get home and to bed until midnight.
Today I decided to wear a sweater and boots (even if it's only 65 degrees here). I''m just so ready for fall! I'm wearing the new SF sweater I got: Brixon Ivy Lawley cable open knit cardigan in grey.
Tonight we are meeting with some friends for dinner at my favorite Mexican food place. Not sure what we are doing this weekend - hopefully being lazy!

@speakeasy14 - loaded baked potato popcorn sounds like heaven to me! YUM!

@speakeasy14 - Yummm popcorn! I have zero self control with those big tubs and eat them all in one sitting.

@lavenderfields13 - OMG are you going to the holiday fair at Seaport? FI is working there today and Sunday. He would be there tomorrow except he is golfing with my dad.

@untouchablets -  I had dreams about you last night (so random) but I don't remember any details of the dream.

Our wedding invitations came last night! We aren't mailing them for 2 weeks but I could not resist putting them together. So now they are all assembled just waiting on stamps.

This morning I went for a run and I just devoured a bagel at work. I want a 2nd one but I shouldn't.

Tonight FI and I head down to my parents. He and my dad are playing golf tomorrow and my mom and I are going shoe shopping and I am going for a haircut. Since my hair stylist and her partner are doing our hair for the wedding, my mom is tagging along for a trial. She has really curly hair and is very picky about how it is styled so she wanted to do a trial first to see if she will like it or if she should just do it herself on the wedding day.

No plans for Sunday. FI is working so I will just be lazy.

WR Question: I am thinking of wearing shoes with rhinestones on the toe, like these:
    image
Then my mom said she's worried the stones would catch on my dress....so now I'm worried about that too. Has anyone else worn shoes like that and was it an issue or is she overthinking it?
  • @speakeasy14 - I am super jealous of your wine delivery.  It looks amazing!

Thank goodness it's Friday...which means that after today, I only have to get through 2 more weeks until Thanksgiving break.  I don't know what it is about this semester, but everybody is dragging.

I'm at the office today hoping to knock out some work so that I don't have to spend all weekend doing research.  I'm going to sneak out at noon for yoga, and then come back for a meeting I have this afternoon.  Tonight my plan is to eat frozen pizza and sit on the couch with the dog and try not to stress about things.  I'm just cranky and tired and stressed lately and I really just want an evening off that doesn't involve me having to think about anything.

Question for NEY: I got an invitation yesterday to my FSIL's (brother's fiancée) bridal shower.  It's next weekend, and it's back in Oklahoma, so obviously I can't go, but I'm going to send a gift.  I send it to the host's house, right?  I've never actually been invited to a shower that I couldn't attend, so I'm a little unclear on proper etiquette.
  • @twodimes - Love that snowman! Also,
    image

@futuremrshistorian - I'm not sure on etiquette but I would probably send to the bride directly. Or ask the hostess (if you're close enough/comfortable enough) which she would prefer. If I were hosting I wouldn't want people just sending gifts to my house without asking first.
  • @jenjen047 - I'm hesitant to send it directly to the bride because she's still living in the dorm at college until the wedding in December.  I suppose I could send it to my brother's house, since they'll both be living there after the wedding.  But I'll ask the host first.  The shower's being held at the home of a lady from the church where I grew up--she's one of my "extra grandmothers," so I'm perfectly comfortable asking her which she would prefer.

  • @futuremrshistorian I think you send it directly to the bride.

@beachyone15 I want to see Phantom! A friend of mine saw it last year and loved it.

Everyone with their Christmasy plans this weekend has me all like "whaaaaaattttt!" It doesn't feel like November in any way, shape, or form. It's been warm here all week and I'm kind of over it, which is odd for me because I love warm weather, but I don't want it to be 80!

I have to hit the road for work this afternoon, but luckily it's only a half hour drive. Shouldn't be too bad once I'm there either since it's not a full audit, I'm just looking into a couple things.

I need to schedule the rest of my month's travels, but I think I'm going to wait until Monday because I am so not interested in that today.

I didn't do squat last night other than knit, watch a little bit of tv, and go to bed early, but I liked it that way!

Hope everyone has a good Friday!

    ******************************************************

  • @futuremrshistorian Ah, yeah, I wouldn't send a gift to a dorm either. Contacting the host or sending to your brother would be fine then!
    ******************************************************

  • @speakeasy14 Now I want flavoured popcorn lol! I'll have to suffice with SmartFood

    @TwoDimes cute snowman!

    @beachyone15 mmmm mexican

Last night was busy with so much last minute things! We ended up getting Harvey's {fast food} and then had to run out so I could get my undercut rebuzzed, stopped at mum's place to give her key and chat {ended up chatting longer than anticipated} Literally didn't get home until after 9pm and still had dishes and packing!

I'm a terrible packer. We should have just used an actual suitcase instead of a duffle. So it's a duffle plus a large purse of mine lol

I'm heading out at 1:30pm and getting my brows waxed, grabbing food and hitting the road for 5hrs!
    FML *sigh*

My mum's coming to watch her grandfurries lol

Should be an interesting weekend needless to say!
  • @speakeasy14 those popcorn flavors sound so good!

@beachyone15 I love Phantom of the Opera I'm glad you enjoyed it.

@jenjen047 I love the shoes.  I don't think the rhinestones would be an issue but my shoes didn't have any.

I feel pretty crappy.  I have a slight cold or something.  I'm pretty congested and I've got an awful headache and nausea.  I would love to sleep all day. So I ordered H's christmas gift earlier this week and it's arriving today.  I ordered some package of the new version of the Xbox for him.  I think I'll just let him set it up tonight instead of waiting a few weeks for Christmas and he knows it's coming anyway.  I may go to yoga depending how I feel tomorrow. We will see otherwise I have no plans at all the rest of the weekend and I am so excited about that.

    Anniversary

  • @wink0erin - I feel you on the weather.  It's been in the 80s here all week and it definitely does not feel like November at all.  Christmas is so far from my mind!  (Except for the gingerbread latte I had from Starbucks this morning.)
  • @jenjen047 Yup that's the one! That's good that you've got all your invites ready to go. Once I got mine they took longer to put together than I expected and then I went over my list a bajillion times before sending them out to make sure they were all there haha.

@futuremrshistorian I'm not sure about the etiquette either but I agree with @jenjen047. Although one of my CWs helped host a shower for her daughter and got pissed when guests that couldn't come sent gifts directly to the bride because the shower date was a surprise. Umm OK but she knew she was having a shower and registered for this shit so who cares??

  • @futuremrshistorian - Ah OK that makes sense then. Yeah, I'd just ask the hostess.

@wink0erin - Remind me what you do for work? Also yeah, it's in the 60s today. Not normal for Boston in November.

@peaseblossom55 - Feel better! Rest up this weekend.

@lavenderfields13 - I'm sure I will double and triple check them again before I mail them out. When I did the STDs I must have counted them 4 or 5 times.
  • @jenjen047I'm an accountant at a regulatory agency and primarily do audit type work. It's actually very interesting but this month is hectic because my to-do list is a mile long and we are understaffed!
    ******************************************************

  • @twodimes - Thank you! Love those shoes!
  • @speakeasy14 - What a fun thing to come home to! Although, I'd be more excited for wine than popcorn! I've never really liked any popcorn other than your just basic butter and salt.

@jenjen047 - I have a couple different pairs of shoes that have rhinestones on the toe and never had a problem. It's a very popular style for wedding shoes and I don't think it would be if they were catching on the dress!

@beachyone15 - In Colorado we seemed to have jumped from summer to winter and I'm super disappointed. We got a couple of days that felt like fall but not many and now it's already cold and snowing!

@lavenderfields13 - I would have been annoyed with your H too! What is the point in telling you, you're not sick? If you feel sick, you feel sick! Also, I hope you feel better soon!
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just have to get through teaching 2 classes this morning and then it's the weekend! I felt like this week dragged on forever and I'm ready for it to be over. Of course this weekend I just have to get a bunch of stuff done so it won't be much fun anyway. Tonight I'm helping FI put the finishing touches on everything for his grad school applications. Saturday and Sunday will be spent cleaning and probably listening to FI practice his presentation for work that he has to give next week.

  • @lavenderfields13 omg I've been going crazy without a kitchen for 3 months, there's no way I could manage 8 years! -- Also I love the savory flavors of popcorn.  Don't really care for the sweet stuff.

    @twodimes that snowman is adorable!

@beachyone15 Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite shows!

@jenjen047 You shouldn't have an issue with those shoes.

@futuremrshistorian you can send it to the host, or send the gift so that it arrives at the bride's house after the shower.

  • @twodimes those shoes are so pretty!

    Anniversary

  • @speakeasy14 @bethsmiles - Thanks!

I ordered 2 small gifts to thank my 2 BMs that are flying up from NC for my shower and I just checked the tracking and they should be here tomorrow! YAY! I got one of  them a Dunkin mug and the other a wine glass sippy cup:

    image

I never expected them to fly up a 3rd time for WR activities, especially the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm so touched and I hope they love these gifts.
  • @jenjen047 WINE SIPPY CUP? Well I'm adding that to my Christmas list. I didn't know there was such a thing.
    ******************************************************

  • @TwoDimes Hopefully the day goes well. I'm glad this is making her happy but since I said I'd go she has already asked me to go to a concert with her too. That ain't happening.

  • @wink0erin - YES!!! I hope it's as awesome as I imagine. There is also this: LINK
  • @lavenderfields13 I'm glad you're going to the thing with your MIL, but I totally agree in not going to a concert too. Hopefully she appreciates the time with you instead of thinking ahead to all the other fun bff things you can do together in the future. I don't know about you, but I go insane when people try to take up too much of my free time.

    @jenjen047 That is also awesome!

    ******************************************************

  • @wink0erin Yeah it's not a concert I'd want to see with anyone and I'm just not really a concert person anyways. This is why I hesitate in saying yes to some things because then she's all "I'm going to ask Lavender to ALL the events!" #iCant. I probably sound like a weirdo but I enjoy having 1 day all to myself on the weekend. I can go awhile without human interaction besides the pizza delivery person lol.

  • @labro - Jealous of your Skype date! Also baby noises <3

@lavenderfields13 - Totally agree with @twodimes. It's good to go outside your comfort zone once in awhile for your MIL, but you also have a right to do what you want to do sometimes. I also like a day to myself so no shame there!
