Boring Day

Re: Boring Day

  • This was me not long ago.

Hope you get that Alfredo soon.

We were not able to pick up the car on Saturday because there was a storm.  Which is kind-of ironic because we bought a 4wd 4runner and are trading in a 4wd Pathfinder, but whatever.   We are going this afternoon.  It's snowing again.  I hope they were able to get the car over from Denver.   I hate the pathfinder so much I want it out of my hair.  I have a fear the longer we have it the greater the chance something will happen before it gets traded it.

  • I'm reviving this because I want to whine. I'm hungover, tired, might be getting sick and I want fettuccini alfredo. I haven't had a craving or even eaten fettuccini alfredo in years.

    Whine.

    @ShesSoCold
I was wondering how you were doing after a Bears' loss and a Hawks win. Hang in there!

Hah thanks!! We had a blast yesterday, despite the stupid Bears. My sister and I are considering selling our tickets next year and going to all the away games instead since our home record has been so bad. But another point for Kane's streak and another shut-out for Crawford was definitely great.

I'm hungover as hell though. We're going this again on 1/3 and I'm thinking about taking the Monday after off work.

@LyndaUSVI I hope you can get the car swap done today!! I know how you feel - I had a car that had a leak and after like 6 different times of bringing it in, I traded it in and despite the new loan and stuff like that, I was so happy to just be done with it forever.

  • I just feel blah.

I had planned on getting Yeti tumblers for my parents for Christmas, but nobody seems to have any more.  I feel silly making my parents an IOU for a gift, but it is what it is.  When I went into a store on Saturday looking for them, the salesman was douchey about it.

Saturday night the transformer blew on the power line behind our house.  It was a rather loud boom at 12:30 am and DH and I had just fallen asleep.  Our dogs flipped out, so I slept with them in the guest room (which is also DH's home office) to calm them down.  The power came back on around 2 am, and DH's printer powered on, which woke me back up.  So I didn't sleep so well.  After teaching Sunday school, I got home and took a late afternoon nap.  The nap totally threw me off and I could not fall asleep last night.  So I'm tired and I know I have a conference call with our team in India tonight that will last until at least 11:00 pm.

    Outsourcing sucks.
  • I feel whiny. My eyes have been itchy and burning and red since last week. On Saturday one of my friends asked me if I had been crying when she saw me... that's how bad they look.

But, no. It's probably because my body is allergic to it being 70 degrees in the middle of freaking December.

It seems like a lot of places across the country are having unseasonably warm temps.  It's in the mid-70s here in Houston (was in the 50s yesterday).  But it's beautiful outside!
  • It's snowing here

  • If you're really bored there's a 20 page thread on the WW called the Judge Free Alcohol Zone that makes some of our threads  look like tea parties!
Wow.   There is hope over there.

  • I like Celia Milton.

Except her opinion on dry weddings.  They are fine.  Not that I've ever attended one, but still fine.

Me too; her overall point was if I spend hundreds of dollars to travel to your wedding, dress up for the day and bring you a gift, wanting a glass of wine with my dinner doesn't make me a princess.

LS;DR of the post - OP wanted a safe space to share cash bar ideas; another poster hijacked the thread to defend her 200 person, high OOT guest, Saturday evening dry, cake and punch reception with a FB save the date because her guests can eat McDonalds on their way or leave early if they don't like it.

    ETA:  I want snow *pout*

I've been to 2 dry weddings that I can think of right now.

In one case, the groom was a recovering alcoholic.  He had been sober for maybe a year or two.  Didn't bother me one bit.  The reception was really fun - it was a baseball theme.  They served hot dogs, popcorn, etc.  They also emailed the guests who had RSVPed yes and asked if anyone wanted to have a friendly game of softball at the end of the reception.  We were put on teams and everyone changed clothes into softball-playing gear, but weather kept us from actually playing.

In the other case, the couple was crazy conservative Evangelical.  The FOB actually bought out the country club where the reception was held to make sure that nobody was served alcohol.  It was super self-righteous.
  • LOL- and here I thought I was potentially the only WW lurker....  I will admit (don't stone me for this)- they seem to agree with a LOT of what we say here- they're big on etiquette, like we are.  I am sometimes actually impressed when I lurk- there is much hope! :)  And yes, that thread helped kill most of my morning- what.a.disaster.

Nope, I'm guilty too!  And most of the time they aren't bad/

I'm home sick today so it totally kept me going.

FWP: I ran out of pecans to make Christmas candy so now I have to go to the store. And I don't want to even though it's only five minutes away.
Also (see below) I need to put my studs on my car, but I have to clean the garage in order to do it inside rather than outside where it's wet and icy.

Confession: I will likely eat quite a few pieces of the candy I'm making.

Whining: we had snow and then it rained so now it's icy and no snow.

Eta: why did TK make my good thing disappear?

Good thing: get together with friends tonight!!!
  • I've been shadowed today by this volunteer. She's driven me crazy on every single call we've had this whole day. Now that I'm sitting for the first time all day (and she's not shoved squarely up my ass), I'm gonna have to take a gander over to WW and check this out...it's been a while since I've lurked there!

  • Today is turning into a good day.  4 days of work left, DH reminded me that we're going to MIL's house for dinner, cos SIL arrives from Chile today, and MIL is an amazing cook and now I don't have to cook dinner.  And at this time next week, I'll be in Hawaii, so it's all good

  • Whine - my golden mix thinks he's a lap dog like the little trio.  Dude, no.  He's a great dog, but nothing near lap sized.

Otherwise, my class actually behaved today considering Christmas vacation starts Friday.  I have an all K class this year, and they can get wild.  But I love them.
  • I'm at my wit's end with Loki, the past week he's decided to put on his naughty pants and jump on every surface he's not allowed to be on. He's already broken 3 different things on my altar.

I really hope Loki is your cat and not your boyfriend.

It's Loki's son who bites off hands, have you tried reminding your cat of that?
  • @holyguacamole79  I'm in the same boat as you for the Yeti tumblers! I've  been everywhere trying to get one for MIL. I may just order it online.

@emmaaa  -  if you find it online, let me know!  I've tried EVERYWHERE I can think of ... Academy, REI, Cabela's, Amazon, Dick's Sporting Goods.  Even on Yeti's website, it says out of stock.

I flipping love mine, so I'm not surprised by the frenzy.

When we looked Friday Yeti's website still had them, now they're out. The Dick's near me said they are getting a shipment in tonight (a truck, they don't know what's included) so I'm going first thing Wednesday morning to see if they have any there.

  • Who knew tumblers would be so popular?

I myself is a Tervis girl.  Have more than I know what to do with, but I might have to try Yeti.  I know they sell them at a store near me.
