@alpacina - Not to be a stickler or anything, but if you screwed up your BC this past weekend, you won't know for at least 10 days.... and even then you might not know for a few more days. Your normal LP is probably 11-14 days, so if you're expecting your period in a week, and you had basically unprotected sex on Saturday or Sunday, you should be in the clear. /sciencelesson
I hope (if that's what you're hoping for) that your ute is completely unoccupied!

Oh lord. This didn't make me less nervous, haha. I rounded to a week, but it will be 11 days between the mess-up day and when I'm supposed to get my period. And being on a 3 month cycle for my pills makes everything so random! . . Really trying not to dwell on it.
I forget that fertility calculations are much more specific than "a week-ish".
@alpacina - yes to everything @cu97tiger said. I hope your ute is vacant if that is what you want.
@jenna8984 - Did they change their policy? I checked my policy when I started this job and the maternity leave was (and is) dismal. I hate maternity leave in America. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it.
@speakeasy14 - You are such a good sister! That pillow looks awesome. Let me know how your sister likes it. I don't toss too much at night but the big pillows look humongous and cumbersome.
@minskat30 yea it's seriously such bullshit in this country, it really is. I have no idea if they changed it since I don't even know who the original person I talked to was or if she still works there. It's so aggravating not having HR in house and having to just email random people across the country about it. Guess it's better that I asked now and can save up as much as possible.
@alpacina Did you take plan b? Any time I've had an "oh shit" scenario I've done that. Which is twice, ever, but still it provided some ease of mind since I knew I did not want a kid yet.
@jenna8984 I think my work has the same policy, you have to drain your vacation and sick leave before maternity kicks in, which makes NO SENSE to me, because what if you or the baby are sick or need time for appointments after maternity leave is technically over?
@jenna8984 That's odd. For us - and tbh I know details just because coworker is going on mat leave as of this week - the company makes sure you're able to claim as much on mat leave as possible, then the vacation you have banked just gets cashed to pay it back. Is there a way to look further into your mat leave stuff? That sounds crazy. {side note: when you first go on unemployment insurance while on mat leave here, it can take up to 6 weeks to kick in but at least they give back-pay}
@wink0erin - I actually have never taken it before.
@jenna8984 - I'm sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. I'm so sorry about your maternity leave situation! That's so crappy. I know my coworker/friend is still drained from using her vacation for maternity leave for her first child, and is now pregnant with her second child, so now she not only has to pay for daycare so her existing son doesn't lose his spot at the facility, but she has to take leave without pay for most of her maternity leave time.
@alpacina - Vibes for an empty ute. Also sorry your ex-SIL is back. UGH.
@untouchablests - Sorry you and BF fought. I know it's normal and it happens from time to time but it's still such a bummer.
I had a busy weekend and am struggling to make it through this week, even though it's short. I just constantly feel like I am forgetting something.
How was your weekend? I went back for my final fitting on Saturday and it was amazing. My dress is perfection and I didn't want to take it off. I'm already sad that I only get to wear it one day. Saturday night FI and I actually had a real date night (we haven't had a Friday or Saturday night off together in months). We also booked our mini-moon. We are going to Vermont for 4 days after the wedding and got an awesome deal on an amazing hotel up there. We will eat all the things, drink all the wine, enjoy the outdoor hot tub and spa, and take a moonlight sleigh ride.
Is there one thing you really hope to get for Christmas? The Melting Pot cookbook.
If you could re-live one day from this past year, which one would it be? The day after we got engaged.
@misskittydanger Yea here in the states you can't even get unemployment while you're out on maternity. Either your company decides to pay you a little like normal salary or you get nothing! It's up to your company and apparently mine doesn't pay. And you can only take 3 months off and then they can legally give your job away to someone else. It's fucking bananas.
@alpacina holy crap that sucks so bad that she has to still do daycare to save his spot, when she's going to be home and not earning. Ugggghh wtf man
@jenna8984 that's so ridiculous! In Canada you get a year. You can split that between the parents now and they can't get rid of your job. Some government positions will allow up to 5yrs off {only 1yr with pay} and when you go back you have your job. You should move here
@wink0erin depends where you live depends on how cold. East coast is bad for weather. West coast is pricey but idk what your price range is. I live somewhat in a valley and tbh this "winter" has been good. On xmas eve it's suppose to be +14*C {57*F for Americans}
Thanks, everybody...BF is okay! One of the attacks hit his base, but no-one was hurt. Still, it's been a rough day all around: 6 American troops were killed near Bagram today.
@futuremrshistorian- That's heartbreaking. I'm glad BF is OK but I don't envy you, I'm sure it's very stressful having a loved one in the midst of all that. HUGS.
So...I am in dire need of a short week. It is 11 pm here and I am sitting here on my work laptop still waiting for my turn to actually do my work, and my coworkers are ignoring me (lovely). Think I am going to give up soon for the night. I'm so glad that tomorrow is my Friday; otherwise I wouldn't be able to handle this week.
My weekend (and almost all day today) was spent tracking down my shoes. That was a saga, and it turns out UPS cannot get their stuff together right now. Every single person I talked to said a different thing about where my package was and when/where I could retrieve it. It culminated with leaving work at 6:30 to pick it up at the time they told me earlier over the phone, only to have the guy tell me that they cancelled the order (cue internal freak out), to then him saying he made a mistake and looked at the wrong order, and that someone called me this afternoon to tell me that the driver would be late getting back and I could pick up the package tomorrow. Except I never received that phone call. And FI and I literally have no time to do this tomorrow between meetings, a dr appointment for me, tying up loose ends at work, and packing (we fibbed a little and said we were going to the East Coast), so the guy finally took pity on us and wrote down our license plate number and told us to come back around 9. We went and grabbed dinner, and he called me at 8:30 to let me know the driver arrived, and we were FINALLY able to get my shoes.
They are AMAZING. Despite my foot still not being 100% healed, I was able to put them on and stand in them for a few moments. Shameless AW:
Our wedding date plaque on the sole:
And questions:
How was your weekend? See above. My story was only what happened today. UPS jerked us around all day Friday and Saturday too. Other than that it was a nice weekend. We relaxed and cleaned the house, and I skyped with one of my best friends.
Is there one thing you really hope to get for Christmas? Not really. FI and I haven't done a normal Christmas this year. We just kind of bought things for each other and counted them as our gifts. He is perfectly happy with his new e-reader, and I feel like it's Christmas with all of the packages I have been getting lately (two pairs of shoes, new makeup, our invitations, etc). Though secretly I would love a pair of diamond stud earrings, but it isn't in the budget right now with the wedding coming up.
If you could re-live one day from this past year, which one would it be? This is tough. Maybe the day we took our engagement pictures? Or when we went to L.A. in October? There weren't many amazing experiences I had this year. I'm sure next year will be a different story though!
@jenna8984 thanks! I am so freaking excited that they are finally here. I have been waiting for them since the beginning of October. And now to get my foot healed so I can wear them by July! They are really comfortable for a pair of heels, but I might still add some ball of foot pads to them.
--- Friday night H and I went over to a friend's house, played board games, and drank whiskey 7's. I regret nothing.
Saturday my parents, brother, FSIL, H, and I went to my dad's aunt's apartment for Christmas with her. It went well overall, but I think she can't hear well anymore - she wasn't totally following conversations. I hope someone gets her hearing checked to help her.
Sunday was for football.
Yesterday my parents adopted a new kitten from a foster. I hope he warms up to my mom soon - she wanted a lap cat, and he hasn't sat with her yet. His kitten name was Jeb, which we are changing - any suggestions? He is shy and very curious.
Re: Monday (but it's my Wednesday)
I hope (if that's what you're hoping for) that your ute is completely unoccupied!
Still here and still fabulous!

Effective January 1 I'll have a little more income.
@futuremrshistorian - T&P for BF!!
@twodimes - Vibes for your sister and nephew!

@wink0erin wooooooooooo that's great news!!!!!!
@wink0erin - YES FOR MONEY!!!! Congratulations on your promotion! So exciting!
@MissKittyDanger - I wrote a bucket list in college. One of the items is literally "Move To Canada", haha!
@AlPacina ugh. I don't blame you. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.
@wink0erin CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
