Mine was surprisingly good. Haven't talked to my brother in like a year and he invited me over, and actually gave me a real gift. I stopped doing gifts with him a few years ago when I would always bring over hand picked gifts for his wife and kids and he never got me anything. So it was surprising and a nice change that he tried this year.

I usually sit home alone (with H) on Christmas night because we don't really have families, but over this past year I've become closer with my aunt so she invited us over for dinner and it was really nice. My grandparents were there and that didn't go so hot because my 88 year old popop went a little overboard with his political rants at dinner that some of us don't exactly agree with so we just tried to eat and change the subject.

We were going to tell all the family about the pregnancy but decided not to for a few more weeks until the first trimester is over.

I'm here at work...I'm always here it seems. lol It will be a short week for me though this week hopefully. I have some vacation time (2 1/2 days) I never took this year and it won't carry over to next year. We have a sucky carry-over policy given that we have crap maternity leave (they only let you carry over one year's accumulated vacation to the next year...which I've already done). Work permitting then, I'll take off Tuesday afternoon and get ready for our bathroom demolition! We start demolition on Friday so I need to clear everything out. This is our LAST big project on the house (other than finishing the basement completely) and I can't wait to be done and be able to focus on the baby. H is keen to be done too so I can take a bath and relax in the tub like I used to (he knows I'm cranky without my baths).

Christmas here was good. H got me a Belly Band (which I am using today with my pants), some Burt's Bees belly butter and a Snoogle (maternity pillow). I broke out the pillow last night and it was wonderful. I spent Christmas Eve with my family about 45 minutes away while H hung out with Rajah (he can't travel yet). I came home Christmas Day and H and I just spent it together. It was lovely...we ate pizza, had a fire and opened presents. I got H a combined Christmas/birthday (his 40th is in March)/anniversary (our 3rd is in March too) present. We are going to St Lucia in February for a few days. I managed to use airline miles for the flight so we only had to pay for the hotel (which I got at nearly 50% off!!!!). I'm really excited for his present too...lol. Hopefully I won't be too huge flying at 6 months or so pregnant.

@jenna8984 - I'm glad you got to spend some time with your family. I'm glad your brother tried to reach out this year too...hugs. I'm sorry about your grandfather's rant...politics plus holidays plus alcohol (usually) doesn't go over the best, does it?

I had a dream last night with you and @labro in it. In my dream, I was trying to put up wainscoting in my bathroom remodel we are doing. @labro was showing me how to do it and you were pouring wine for us. That's like all my favorite things in a dream...friends, wainscoting and wine!

My Christmas was great! Christmas eve eve BF and I went to his brother and FSIL's house for "sibling night" in which all of the hosts siblings and their SOs hung out and drank. I got hammered and it was awesome! On Christmas Eve I worked at the dog grooming shop for a few hours and it was a nice day. I went to BFs for dinner where we all got to open one present. I got a selfie stick and he got a vaccuum for his car and a big hint from his mom lol.

Christmas day I was doing a lot of running around and wrapping Christmas presents and eating cookies. Around lunchtime I went to BFs house and we opened presents! I got some clothes, a cute backpack from his sister, a funny journal called "in my humble opinion" from his brother, money from his grandma (which I used to buy a kindle fire!) And some other odds and ends. It was a good day! We ate freaking amazing food cooked by his mom and at the end of the night BF one-upped my gift of Gucci cologne and a banana republic sweater by giving me a Michael Kors handbag and matching wallet. That thing is never gonna touch the ground!

The weekend was fine, I worked Saturday and Sunday for a few hours and I got sick so I slept a lot.

Final bit of news... My breeder emailed me this morning to let me know MY PUPPY AND HER FOUR SIBLINGS WERE BORN LAST NIGHT!!!

@minskat30 Yay! @southernpeach89 used her Belly Band pretty much right up until she hit 8-9 months ish and at that point she was wearing dresses 24/7. I hope you love your pillow!

@jenna8984 I'm glad you got to spend Christmas with family even if the dinner talk wasn't ideal.

I'm back!!! It's gross out. It's Monday. That's basically all I got. I spent all of Christmas Eve working even though it should have been a holiday and that really blows....

@labro - I'm sorry you had to work Christmas Eve.

That DOES blow. I had to stop into work on Christmas for a while before I went home to hang out with H but it wasn't too long (just an hour or so) thankfully. I hate jobs that never quit. Hugs. I also wish my dream was real...the wainscoting part will be real but the wine and visits from you all, sadly, will not (at least not for now).

@labro - I stay away from trading options like in iron butterfly and other strategies. I do my 401k (for which I picked a general "you retire in X years" mutual fund) and leave all of our other personal investments to H (he does calls, puts, bonds, the whole works). I figure since I practice law in corporate securities and investments, I want nothing to do with researching investment options outside of work. He would LOVE to chat with anyone who would listen to him about investment options anytime you want to Face Time me....seriously, he will go on...and on...and on.

@minskat30 Yep...I definitely didn't click on anything that wasn't immediately apparent what it was, but I saw the options for Iron Butterly, Condor, etc. and my head just started spinning. The Roth IRA is new for us. H and I decided to wanted to start expanding our investments outside of our 401ks since I'm already maxing mine out effective in 2016. I just want to retire early and be rich!!!! Why can't I just grow a money tree in my backyard?

@jenna8984 Grandparent rants are always uncomfortable. My grandpa will get on rants sometimes and I usually find a way to excuse myself (bathroom break, anyone?). I'm glad you got to spend some time with family though!

Today is my only workday this week! I have taken the rest of the week off. Tomorrow I say goodbye to my savings account and CLOSE ON MY HOUSE! And the next day I head off to a quick weekend New Years trip. I'll be coming back on Saturday so I'll be able to start moving things over to the house (I'll do some of that tomorrow too). I had the trip paid for before I even considered buying a house, but the home buying process went insanely fast for me. I hope I'm not totally freaking out on the trip as a result!

I had a great Christmas. Christmas Eve was the lamest but easiest work day ever, I didn't really do ANY work, but talked to the couple coworkers that were here and was so comfortable since I wore jeans and a sweatshirt to work. That night BF and I watched movies and ate Chinese before passing the eff out from sodium overload and exhaustion.

Christmas Day we slept in and then went to my parents. Spent the whole afternoon and evening there. BF was afraid he would awkwardly be off to the side watching us all open gifts, but my parents got him several things, even made him a stocking. I got a bunch of coloring books and a bigger set of colored pencils, and a couple things for my new place (book on how to repair "almost everything", light timers, some nightlights, a tool set). When we got back to my place BF and I finally exchanged gifts, he got me some super comfy sweatpants and a Harry Potter teacup (with the tea leaf grim in the bottom!) and I gave him a string art thing of the Wu Tang Clan logo (he had the hugest smile over that) and a card game called Weed (it's super fun, lots of strategy involved).

@labro You are way ahead of the game maxing out your 401k, you should be insanely proud of achieving that! I've been upping mine each year but am still only at about 50% of the max. And when I do my friends' taxes I can see that most our age are only doing a fraction of that. So being able to even go above and beyond that to an IRA is amazing, great job!!

@jenna8984 Yeah...it sucks and it's so hard. H and I live off of his income which is what lets me invest mine/use it to pay off our debt. But really, after you get used to the change it doesn't seem so bad. And seeing my 401k grow soooo much in the last two years compared to my last job has been pretty awesome.

My Christmas was good! H & I drove up to Maine on Christmas Eve, and got to my parent's house around 9pm. We got up early the next morning and went to my sister's for Christmas breakfast. I got to meet my nephew and I'm in love!

After that, we went back to my parent's house and my other sister, her FI, and my grandparents all came up. We opened presents, had dinner, and just hung out. It was so nice to spend time with all of them!

Saturday I slept in, which was nice. My grandparents stopped by again in the afternoon, my dad & I made whoopie pie cupcakes, and then H & I went back to my sister's to hang out and play CAH. We got up on Sunday, hung out & watched Harry Potter, and headed home around 1pm. We picked up Chinese food, caught up on some DVR, and I went to bed by 10!

It was a wonderful weekend, and I don't want to be back at work!!
