Who is ready....

...to go resume a normal work/school schedule tomorrow?

I worked every day from the 26th until the 2nd.    Doubles everyday except for yesterday.    Still I'm not looking forward to tomorrow.   My main job was slow last week, tomorrow means most people are back from vacation/holidays and ready to work.

  • Blluuggghhh. I've been off for two weeks. The longest I've ever been off consecutively in ten years.
Got a lot done- cleaned closets, painted and patched wall issues, saw family and friends... Onto 2016!

  • you were busy and productive.

I un-decorated on NY day. Managed to do laundry and clean the house.  But that is about all I did besides work.

DH has a couple friends coming next weekend.  They are staying 2 nights with us, then moving to a hotel for 3 more nights.    So I really need to do a "company is coming" type clean sometime this week.

  • I actually am. Although this week isn't exactly a normal schedule for me. I leave to go to a conference in Puerto Rico on Wednesday. I am looking forward to getting into a normal routine again soon though.
  • It's gonna blow so hard.

  • My work schedule doesn't really change no matter the time of year (healthcare) but there's just something about knowing that the holidays are over that is making the idea of working this week extra depressing.
  • Today I decided to make a chicken pot pie mixture in the crock-pot.   No recipe, just winging it.    Normally I would reuse a Pillsbury product for the crust.    I didn't have any and decided to get all domestic and make my own.   For hours I couldn't wait to make the biscuits.    Then I noticed I only had bread flour.  Not all-purpose.

At least my chicken mixture turned out good

My post-holiday going back to work includes going out of town for 3 days, beginning bright and early tomorrow, starting with a 6.5 hour train ride. I am 0% excited about this.

    etf... typing is hard.

  • I woke up this morning feeling blah, and the doctor at Urgent care confirmed what I feared. Kidney infection. So much for using the last day off to clean.

    Ugh.

I'm sorry.  I've had one of those before.  It sucked.  I hope you feel better soon.

  • You know, I kinda think I need to get back to normal.  Because of the custody situation with DD and her ex (and the fact the courts did let her relocate to Indiana) one year she has the kids for the first half of Christmas break (to include the 25th) and the following year he does.

This was our first year where we literally couldn't celebrate with the kids and grandkids until the 2nd (yesterday).  I hated waiting so long.  It sucked the life right out of Christmas for me (and my girls too).  I know it is out of everyone's hands and we have to take one for the team every other year, but this is the first time we had to have our get together this late.  DD hated it also.  She had to celebrate quite early with her kids and her youngest still knows that Santa is real.  We all had to play our cards very carefully for her.

I have a great DH but there is a reason the Mr. Grinch song is his ringtone on my phone all year long.  It just doesn't trip his trigger much.  I am the only one in the house who wants to be excited for Christmas - not happy about that.

We may have to travel for a couple of days in two years to break this up.  I'm not doing the holidays like this again.

Now... on the flip side of my nogoodverybadsuckyattitude, I get to go to Great Wolf Lodge in 2 weeks with the gkids and my girls and their husbands.  They have a spa there so the girls got me a one hour massage on Saturday night.  Merry Christmas to Nana!
  • I'm looking forward to getting back to my "normal" eating habits - I've eaten way too much the past couple of weeks!  I'm sending DH to work tomorrow with any of the sweets we have left in the house - I want it all gone!

Thanks. I've had UTIs before, but this back pain is crap.

I also wish a speedy recovery. I had a kidney infection a few years ago also, and recall staying up all night with terrible, piercing back pains. They are crap, indeed.

Ugh, been through that myself, I had a UTI turn into a kidney infection. Speedy recovery hun.

  • Thanks, everyone!
  • Feel better soon Holy Guac.

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow at all.  I have to coach at 7:30, so it's an early morning for me.  We spent 10 days in Hawaii over break too, s I just want to go back.  And we had IL's staying with us for the rest of the time.

And to top it off, I go back to Uni as well as full time work.  2 Grad classes and full time teaching.  I made it through fall, I can make it through this semester.  I get more holidays this term too, from work, so I think it'll be better.

  • Thanks, everyone!
Hope you feel better quickly. Those things suck.
  • I'm not looking forward to being back right now. I was off beginning Christmas Eve and am just now back. I had to answer some emails last week so I wasn't completely off but it wasn't bad. this is the longest I've been off since I was in school and it was glorious
  • I technically worked last week, but most of my customers were on plant shut down so by "work" I mean I answered the 4 phone calls I received and any emails.  We had stuff every day last week so I don't even feel like we had a break because we were constantly on the go.

I so am not ready to go back.  And I'm not feeling well this morning (not as bad as Holy Guac though - hope you feel better soon!).

  • I am at my desk and I am not ready to be back at work. Now that the holidays are really over, it means I am back to my eating healthy and working out. Argghhh.
  • I am also at my desk, and not ready to be here, even though I was here all week last week and the week before (except on the actual holidays). I am really not ready for college courses to start up next week. I teach as an adjunct on the side, and I'm not prepared at all. Not looking forward to that being my entire weekend this weekend.
  • I'm at work and I think I'm still asleep. I slept so much while I was off that I couldn't get settled last night until really late. So now I am tired on top of dreading being here. That makes for a great Monday, huh?

  • I worked last week but it's different now.   The house is empty, DH is back to work and I'm so tired.    I need some better eating, less drinking and less cookie consuming.   We still have some cookies left that I made with DD and when those are gone, no more!

We still have to do Christmas with my dad's side of the family.   We usually get together after the holidays and since they're the ones directly affected by the sudden death of a family member, we're taking our time.   Luckily I think that actually helps with DD.   She has been on an emotional roller coaster and is at a 10 or 2.

  • So not ready. We took the little guy to daycare today for the first time...ahh!

And coming back to work from maternity leave plus the holidays has been kind of a shit show for many reasons.

Also having fun catching up on stuff here... I missed y'all

  • Good luck back at work everyone! This week is my first full week of being at home since I was laid off so I'm looking forward to it! The first two weeks after my last day I was in real estate classes, then we went out of town for Christmas, came back to study and take the national and state exams (I passed both!), and now I get to work on my long list of things to get done around here before the wedding!

  • I'm not ready to be back at all either. Having a week and a half to do nothing was really bad for my sleeping patterns. And then I'm just sick enough that I was up an additional 45 minutes last night before I could get to sleep.

Luckily most of my work was off last week, so I have a minimal amount of email and everyone is dealing with the same problems getting going.

  • Me, actually, but partly due to having Las Vegas to look forward to and another week off the books.  Honestly, I should plan a fun trip every January to help get over the "back to work" blues.

  • This is my first day back to the office in 2 weeks.  I was "working" from home and I am none to happy to have to wear real pants and tops and get up early.  I was really enjoying waking up at 8am, rolling out of bed, and logging in on my computer.

I do have a Garth Brooks concert in 3 weeks and our Vegas trip in 35 days (not that I am counting or anything) to look forward to.

Agh, I cried so much, even with my second, even though I knew I didn't want to SAH.  Cried when I left, cried in the car, was on my way to the restroom to cry some more at work when my boss caught me and tried to introduce me to some random consultant.  Awkward.
