2016's First Monday

How ARE you? How were your New Year's Celebrations? Any special goals or resolutions for 2016?

I spent most of New Year's Day hungover. Apparently the red martini things I was downing were a bit stronger than I thought and finishing everything off with a big glass of wine and then some champagne made for an unhappy LaBro come Friday morning. On the plus side, I got to  meet @audrewuh for the first time IRL ever!!! She is sooooooooo adorable and sweet you guys! Her H was also there and we had a lot of fun meeting up in downtown Atl, taking turns holding Callie, and socializing. I just wish I had been feeling a bit better in my tum.

H and I spent Saturday and Sunday cleaning and organizing and putting away Christmas stuff. We got all the Christmas decor consolidated into plastic bins and got rid of all of the cardboard boxes, and we also organized three closets!

Re: 2016's First Monday

  • It's Monday. I did not sleep well last night and I'm so not ready to be back to work.  I was so used to being up late and sleeping in getting up this morning was a disaster.   I feel like the day will drag too.  What a disaster.

    My weekend was good. We were pretty lazy though.  I did some things around the house grocery shopping and made some food for the week.  Nothing too exciting.

    Anniversary

  • As stated in my previous post...today will be rough and the following days as well.

    New Years was very tame and calm since we spent it with our baby. DH had to work until 10:00 and I was home with Callie. She went to bed at 8:30 and DH and I watched the ball drop at midnight and then went to bed.

    I don't have any specific goals really....I'm almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight...I'm like 10 lbs away so hopefully I can knock those off in the next couple of months.

    I got to meet @audrewuh as well with @labro. Callie was wide awake at the restaurant for a bit and then fell asleep on @labro. We enjoyed meeting her and her H. Hopefully it won't be the only time!

    Friday we spent with the family eating food and relaxing. Saturday we had some of DH's friends over for smoked buffalo wings and fire pit time. DH bought a fire pit over the weekend. I was paranoid we were going to set the house on fire but thankfully we didn't lol. Sunday DH had to work so Callie and I snuggled and played all day.

    Today I plan to run to the grocery store and do some cleaning before I go get Callie at 4:30.
  • I do not want to be here today!!!

    My ILs have been in town.  My MIL was up and ready for us when we got out of bed at 5:15 or 5:30.  The house is a mess, but I don't even care, I'm just glad that when I go home today they'll be gone.  I need peace and quiet.

    New Year's was alright.  H and I watched a movie on Netflix (Kate and Leopold), I had a sip of sparkling cider at midnight, and then we went to bed.

    I spent most of the weekend sick, but nobody wants to hear about that.  I did manage to do PiYo Lower Body on Saturday, though!

    I was so annoyed on Saturday night.  I spent the day throwing up.  My MIL was there, so she knew I was sick.  That afternoon she went shopping with some of her sisters and nieces.  She texted H at 9 PM to tell him that they were all coming over.  I was on the couch, hadn't done my hair, hadn't even washed my hair since like Thursday, the house was a mess, I probably smelled.  I did not want company.  And then, every single one of them rubbed my belly.  STAHP IT.  GO AWAY so I can puke in peace.  They only stayed an hour or so, I guess it could have been worse.

    Oh, and the first thing my MIL did when she arrived was kiss on my belly.  KISS ON IT.  And then try to tell H's 21 year old brother to come "say hi to the baby".  I told him he could just wave.  *sigh*
  • Your hair looks really pretty, @Swazzle!
  • I love the new hair @Swazzle!!! I was really glad to see our tree go this weekend too. Normally I want our decorations to stay up as long as possible but this year I was not in the spirit at all with all the super warm and humid weather we've been having. We took ours to get chipped into woodchips and in return we got three free dogwood saplings and a huge handful of seed packets for the garden! Fair exchange IMO.

    @CocoBellaF Your MIL is a real peach isn't she? To be fair, I was pretty much obsessed with @southernpeach89 's belly her entire pregnancy and luckily she tolerated it from me otherwise I probably wouldn't be alive anymore. ;)

    @southernpeach89 Omg you're doing so well! I can't believe you're already within 10 lbs!!! You are a super woman!

  • @labro - That is a really cool exchange!!  My MIL is one-of-a-kind.

    @southernpeach89 - You are amazing!!  I saw a picture of you over the weekend, and you looked so good.  I hope I am able to keep my weight in check, too.  I've already gained 7 lbs, wut.

    Is it time to go home yet???
  • @cocobellaF belly rubs are the worst.  I think I was lucky and never really got any.

    @swizzle I love the hair so much!

    @CocoBellaF omg I'm sorry your weekend was so rough! I would have been veeerrryyy annoyed. And they would have known it since I basically have no filter or sense of calm. I hope you and BabyF are feeling better today.

    @swazzle you look gorgeous!

    My weekend was good. I spent NYE with BF's friends which was much more fun than I expected. His one girl best friend who drives me absolutely bonkers stayed in Cali so I didn't have to deal with her. I did meet a new GF of his friend who hosted and she was awesome and I hope they stay together forever. We played cards against humanity, and it was funny because two of the people there were Japanese cousins of one of the guests and they spoke English but we still had to explain things like "fingering" and "an assymetric boob job". It was hilarious.

    New years day, continued my room redecoration project. I put up the last of my shelves and threw out a lot of useless junk. I really don't know where it comes from, it just multiplies! I'm almost done, I have some work to do in my bathroom and my closet, but I'm excited to finish. I want 2016 to be as clutter free as possible.

    Yesterday I taught my first solo class! It was a Shiba Inu puppy and I had my plan for the first class all made up only to learn that the puppy at ten weeks already knew what I wanted to teach. So I ended up having them show me how they taught the commands, helped them with "down" which they were struggling with, and helped them tighten up what they were already teaching. Now that I know what I'm in for, I'll have a better plan for next week :)

    Edit: soo many typos!!!
  • @CocoBellaF - That is so frustrating :disappointed:

    @labro - That's awesome! We just put ours out by the curb. The township comes by to take it away on Friday.

    @southernpeach89 - You're like a freakin super woman! That's amazing!

  • The belly rubs are weird, but it's the kissing all over my belly the first thing when you walk in the door.  It freaked me out.  Like, get away from my stomach and vag area.  Go away.  GO AWAY.  KWIM??
  • @Blue & White I love the final look for your bedroom! I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

    Come renovate my house next?

  • @labro Our bedroom is only our first room!!  Next is the great/family room, then I think we are going to do another bedroom just in case we have a kid one day haha.  Cause I doubt kids like living in drywall hell?

    Sooo basically, we are available to renovate your house in the year 2092.  Hope that fits your schedule.
    I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • @minskat30 - Your H and his drinking resolution!!  I am laughing at the mental picture of your house littered with bottles and cans when you got up on New Year's Day!
  • In other news, because there's a Victoria's secret ad on my page....did anyone besides me think the semi-annual sale was pretty bogus this year?  I managed to find like two bras and a set of pajamas...that's pitiful!

    I just want some cute cheap underwear.

    I did, however, get 4 pairs of editor pants from express yesterday for 18.99 each.  I was proud lol

  • @minskat30 I'm terrified of what's behind our bathroom walls.  We are going to demo and then renovate our bathrooms within the next 5 years but yea..it's gonna be a mess.  There's not even greenboard in there (which was probably up to code 30 years ago, but grosses me out lol)

  • No hangover for New Years Day because I was in too much of a shitty mood to drink. {Oh look, something I learned from my drinking years!}
    We had people over and idk what really triggered it, but I just was in a terrible mood. Like to the point I spent at least 10mins in the bathroom alone and then got pissed because no one noticed.
    Yes I'm aware of the red flags that seems to show, I'm going to find better meds to help.

    New Years Day I spent feeling terrible and just in the black hole, so we watched "Silver Linings Playbook" and nothing else.

    Spent weekend just cleaning stuff. Since we're looking at buying a home within a year, I have zero desire to pack all the absolute crap we have. I'm basically going through everything with a fine-tooth comb and tossing a lot out.

    We don't do resolutions, but we're trying implement more lifestyle changes that just happen to work better starting in new year
    - meal planning {this will help financially and spending - we know we go out too much}
    - tighter budget to pay off debt
    - minimize what we have - apartment first, then locker.
  • @Blue & White  I didn't even bother with VS sale because of lack of cute undies sale. Oh well :disappointed:

  • @blue&white - OMG bacon wrapped scallops.  Yum.  I was terrified of what was behind our walls too...turns out there were two mice there in addition to the craziness.  Gross.  Anything built in the 1940s though is like a bomb shelter...the cement holding the tile up was several inches thick.  My poor BIL and his crew were at the one bathroom for two days.

    @cocobellaf - I laughed so hard at H and his drinking frenzy.  I told him to ease into his resolution and it would be easier but he wouldn't listen.  The bottles were just hilarious in the morning.
  • @blue&white I love the bedroom can't wait for the final pics

    @minskat30 H has hockey so I can be lazy and get to bed early tonight.  Sorry you still had work stuff to deal with this past week.

    I am so ready for 5pm today and I know this day will drag, I have very little to get done at work right now, which doesn't help any.

    Anniversary

  • All of this bathroom reno stuff is stressing me out. When H and I redo our master bath we'll have to do a bunch of tile work too and I am NOT looking forward to it. It sounds like hell.

  • @Blue - Your bedroom looks amazing! I can't even buy bras at VS so be grateful for that!

    @minskat30 - You're the sweetest! I feel like I'm hungover after reading everything your H drank!

  • @speakeasy14 OMG PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also yay on getting to feel your niece kick! I love that feeling!

  • @speakeasy14 - OMG!!!  That puppy!  I want to snuggle that puppy so bad!

    @labro - Bathroom remodels are real, yo.  We had to call the water company and all because of a pipe issue...thankfully we had a plumber on site.  Seriously though, I doubt your tile is as bad as ours was.  I'm very embarrassed to post this but here are "before" pictures of the bathroom.  Its hideous and like a 1940s/50s barbie house threw up in our home.  You can't get much worse than pepto pink tile EVERYWHERE, blue tub/sink/toilet, poopy brown vanity, florescent lights and blue tile floors to finish it off. You'll have to wait a month or two for the "after" photos at the rate we are going.  We still have a powder room in the same lovely tile to demo.

  • @labro  martini's are sneaky bastards like that!

    @CocoBellaF  people need to learn personal space!

    @untouchablets  that's my goal for 2016 too!!

    @minskat30 your poor H must have had a rough morning!
  • @cu97tiger - I am 12 weeks.  It has been pretty constant since about 5.5 weeks.  Nothing tastes right either.  I can't wait for it to (hopefully) start to end.
