Allow me to introduce myself

speakeasy14 asked me to start an introduction thread, so here goes...

I'm fairly new to TK. I had joined a few years ago when my sister was engaged, but her engagement unfortunately ended and I stopped coming on here (I only actually was on the forums 3 or 4 times). I have been with my FI for over 4 years, and we have lived together for 3 years. He proposed to me in early December, and I'm beyond thrilled! I'm 29 years old, and a bit of a workaholic. I work full-time as director of therapeutic recreation in a nursing home. I also work part-time (although it feels like full-time) as an adjunct professor, teaching therapeutic recreation in geriatric service settings. So basically, I love old people. I also love cats and traveling (my favorite place on Earth is Scotland!).

I am from Media, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. I am hoping to get married in May 2017.

So glad to have an outlet for wedding talk here on TK. We're keeping ours small, so I don't want to talk about it a lot in front of most people, and I don't want to drive my best friend and sister crazy over the next year and a half.

@KeptInStitchesFavorite dessert is anything with lots of chocolate. In particular there is a bistro down the street from me that sells a cake called Dark Side of the Moon. It's dark chocolate cake with chocolate espresso filling, fudge icing, and other deliciousness. It is heaven. I also love cannoli.

@jenna8984 For the honeymoon we're thinking the Caribbean. FI hasn't been there yet, and we want to just sit on the beach and relax and drink a lot!

I love both guac and salsa, but I'd probably pick salsa if I had to choose.

My cat is mostly gray, brown and black with a white V-neck and white socks. This is a picture of her after she covered herself up with a blanket when she was cold:

Last good book you read? I just read the Wayward Pines books. They were surprisingly really good. About a month ago I also finished The Goldfinch. It took me forever to get through it, but it was fantastic.
What are some of your favorite shows on TV? I have weird taste that is all over the place. I love everything from The Gilmore Girls and Pretty Little Liars to Twin Peaks, Lost, and Dexter. I am obsessed with the Bachelor and the Bachelorette, much to my own dismay.

Tell us about your engagement. We were at home, putting up the Christmas tree. I was not really into it, because I put up 7 Christmas trees at work each year, so I was a little bit moody. I was putting on lights and my hair got caught in one of the branches. I spent some time trying to get it out, and when I turned around, he was on his knee. And I cried and hugged him, and forgot to say yes for the first two or three minutes. He knew though.
What's your favorite thing about your FI? He is incredibly caring and generous. He also has a great sense of humor. We spend a large portion of our time together laughing.
Least favorite thing? Probably the fact that he's a bit of a grump when he gets up in the morning for work.
How do you like your potatoes? I love potatoes any which way. Top three though would probably be roasted, twice baked, and inside of pierogies.

Have you picked a venue yet? Not yet. We're looking at places where we can do an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. I'm viewing an old mill (it's actually called The Old Mill) on Sunday. It's beautiful. http://connercatering.com/oldmill/
Favorite season? Summer
What do you do for fun? Read, travel, go out to eat, watch movies, crochet, my friends and I love to try different wineries on summer weekends.

What's your favorite kind of cheese? This is very hard. I love all cheese for the most part - but I think my favorite of all time is sharp provolone.

There are also a few of us that watch the Bachelor/ette! I've been trying all day to watch Sunday's episode but I can't handle the ABC app anymore or I'm going to smash my phone.

Re: Dexter: I was obsessed (the Trinity season is one of my favorite seasons of any show in the history of TV) and Lost: I never watched when it was on but I think I've made it through season 4 or 5 on Netflix.

I watched Wayward Pines when it was on TV and I really loved it. I'll have to add the books to my list.

ETA: Your proposal was so sweet and that venue is seriously GORGEOUS!

What brought you to NEY instead of one of those other TK boards? I've also browsed through the other boards. But I'm in the early stages of planning, and still have over a year. Starting off with some posts that I could relate to more, such as the days of the week post, seemed a lot easier to jump into.

@Swazzle, the episode from the other night was awesome. I watched it on Hulu last night. And I can't wait for the PLL 6B premier next week!

I am working on the gifs. I don't typically post them, and I'm not quite sure how to do it, so I guess we'll see how that goes.

@AisforA It's super easy. Either you drag and drop OR you right click on the image, copy the image address, and then paste the image address. In the reply field there's a bunch of options over it. You paste the image address into the little black square looking one with a corner folded over.

Also, you obviously chose NEY because we're way cooler than everyone else.

Are you strictly a cat person or do you like dogs too? I like dogs, but have never owned one. FI loves dogs, and we're thinking about getting one in the next few months. I'm hesitant because I feel like I'm never home. But he is home more often, so I guess that's not the end of the world.

If you could trade places with any actress, who would it be? This is tough because I normally don't follow actresses too much. Maybe Blake Lively, but not forever, just for a few days.
One thing your FI does that makes you think "I get to marry HIM." So there are lots of things, but this one is on the forefront of my mind because it's so cold out here. In the winter, FI sets his alarm 30 minutes earlier than mine (even though he doesn't get up for an hour after I do), so that he can turn the heat up so I won't be frozen when I get out of bed. Then he goes back to sleep. I don't ask him to do this, he just does it because he knows that I'm always freezing!

What kind of dog are you thinking about getting with your FI? Not sure. Something on the smaller side. I'm really going to leave it up to him because he LOVES dogs. As long as the dog gets along well with cats, and is housebroken, I'm good with it.

When is the last time you got drunk? My friend's 30th birthday party at the end of November. Getting drunk at 29 is not like it was when you're 21. I had a hangover for 3 days.

When is the first time you got drunk? I'm actually not quite sure. I know it was probably in my senior year of high school, but I can't pinpoint the first occasion.

Do you sing in the shower? Do you sing well in the shower? I do sing in the shower but not all the time. I'd like to think I sound awesome, but I probably don't.
