Wedding Woes

Friday!

Supposed to have final inspection today.  It's the lamest process ever. Call the day before and leave a message.  Call morning of and find a time frame.  I called the inspector this am and get "I'm out of the office today"  call next guy and get "I'm out indefinitely."  Third guy is inspecting, but doesn't have any idea when he'll be here "Are you going to be home all day?"  I'd planned on going to the store and was hoping this could happen before furniture, but whatever.

Re: Friday!

  • Ugh.  Waiting on people sucks.  I hope the guy doesn't keep you home all day.

I'm planning my target trip.  It seems like everything ran out this week and we need all this stuff at once.  I'm definitely replacing toothbrushes, chapsticks, etc. as soon as this nasty cold has run through the entire house.
  • Snow Day here, so I'm doing a happy dance. It screws up my entire schedule for my classes, but I don't even care.

  • Downside of working from home is there is never a snow day or anything like that.

Today is work of course. Nothing really planned for this weekend- there are lots of little things to be done around the house so I'll probably work on getting those items off my to-do list.
  • Working until noon and then getting my ass home before the snow starts.

I went to pick up a few supplies yesterday and surprisingly the food store wasn't completely insane like I thought it would be.  I was interested to see what items were really picked over compared to others.  Apparently chicken broth, canned tomato products, and chicken were the hot ticket items in my store.

  • We're not getting the impending snow. Yay.

I'm off today and at Starbucks having my free bday drink. I'm about to mosey down to my salon to get my hairs did.

Other than that, I think I might nap and I go to the grocery store today. DH got out of moving his uncle tomorrow, so we're just heading to Cincy to meet our nephew.
  • I wanted to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and I have no biscuits. I swore I had some, but goddam it. Now I'm sad.

  • SNOW DAY!

Logged on to check email, but it's not 100% WFH.  Home beats my office by miles, though:  fresh ground coffee, fireplace, Jackson 5, pajamas.  Plus Wooz, bless her heart, is old enough to take DS in the playroom so he stops trying to push all the keys on the keyboard when I'm trying to get on the VPN.

  • I have my tea and breakfast sandwich, so the day is starting off well. I hope you ladies stay safe and warm with all of the snow.

  • Normally I would be jealous of everyone with a snow day, but we've gotten so little snow around my parts this year and I couldn't be happier. No snow for us this weekend and it's actually sunny (albeit very cold) today. Topped off with free breakfast from one of our sales guys so this day is off to quite a nice start.
  • For me its already evening so its wine time. All the wine.

  • The Tennessee Valley is getting snow today! This is an occurrence that usually only happens once or twice per winter, and sometimes not at all. So, the general mood in my area today is all:

  • I can't decide if I should just blow this day off completely or try to get some work done.

  • Snow day in Western NC, too. @thefanciestbeckler you would think we're preparing new for a two week storm the way people act. We legit ran out of eggs and milk last night and H went to the store and all that was left was organic brown eggs and half and half. Can't really complain though H and I played with the puppy outside all morning.
  • My husband asked if I'm hungry. I said yes, and now I hear him making noise in the kitchen. I wonder what's happening.

  • I had a busy weekend planned with 2 book clubs and a new museum exhibit opening.

Scotch and the new Supernatural is looking WAY better.  As well as reading, napping, and loads of other "sit on my ass" activities.  I've been isolating a bit, which is good.  I need to be alone and recharge some.

  • It's intense isn't it @charlotte989875?!?! We southerners are serious about our snow, even if it's only 1 inch. I'm sure you guys will get more than us, though. That's how it usually plays out it seems. DH's dad used to live in a teeny little town about a mile from the NC border, and he always got snow even if we didn't have any.

  • I was just told by a colleague that they're concerned that too many components of a large project are fully in my hands - that I need to better take advantage of the rest of the project team. Except that no one on the project team is willing to actually roll up their sleeves and do the real work, which is why we're in this position. I'm like, THIS IS NOT A CONTROL THING, I WILL GLADLY GIVE UP WORK.
  • @thefanciestbeckler we've gotten about 3 inches since Wednesday and the county declared a state of emergency until Saturday night. I understand the problems with ice higher on the mountain roads, but down in the valley everything is clear. For a lifelong northerner I'm shocked by the reactions to weather down here.

I wish my H did that.  I say I am hungry and he responds with "yeah, me too." The other day he told me that the only person he was comfortable cooking for was himself.

  • I'm a freaking trainwreck lately. H and I are buying our first home and I'm stressed as shit. Add that to my BSC stepdad and my dying grandma and I just need a drink and a nap. I live next door to stepdad and we're (my brother and sister and I) trying to get everything that belonged to us, my mom and my grandparents out of the house. So naturally, it's my problem and I'm expected to just take all this shit. I'm moving - I'm trying to reduce my shit, not add to it.

Tomorrow I have to get up before the ass crack of dawn to go to my great aunt's funeral five hours away. And my dad isn't sure if he wants to stay overnight so I have to pack a bag JIC.

I really need to clean my house and start packing but I see myself drinking all day, laying on the couch and watching football in Sunday.

Did I just meet another Supernatural fan? (If so... SQUEE! I think this season is kind of "meh" but the cliffhanger at the end of this week's episode reminded me why I love this show still after 10.5 seasons.)

@shessocold congrats on the house seem to be in order! Drinking is definitely necessary.

  • @thisismynickname I LOVE Supernatural.

This season has been so weird.  The episodes are either totally meh or some of the best episodes they've ever done.  The one that's from the viewpoint of the car was amazing.  I put the imaginary friends one right in my top 5, honestly.  I loved it.  And yes, the cliffhanger was awesome.  I am liking The Darkness stuff, though it took awhile to grow on me.

Thought I hate to say it, they just need to dump Castiel and Crowley.  Those 2 hanger-ons seem to start pulling the show down anymore, with needing to keep those characters busy.
  • No snow day here... it's supposed to be 75 and beautiful here today. Which means I really wish I was stuck at home or out enjoying the weather, instead of stuck in an office where it really doesn't matter what the weather is.  Although, at least I don't need to drive in snow/ice to get home after work.

Luckily, it's still supposed to be nice out tomorrow and no work.  The local botanical garden is having a dog day tomorrow morning, so I'm debating taking the pups to the garden.  Ace would enjoy having a wide variety of new plants to pee on.  But, I'm not sure it's worth $30 to take the dogs for a walk.  And the gardens have an awesome glass/light show right now, but it's only worth seeing at night, so if I were to spend money to go there, I'd rather leave pups home and go at night.  So, dogs may end up just going to their usual park.

Then, I really want to sit down and go through our finances and set up a new budget.  DH and I are trying to cut back on some expenses.  But, it's really hard to find the motivation to actually go through it all and deal with it.

Sunday is football & laundry day. DH is rooting against the AZ Cardinals, even though we live in AZ.  He's originally from TN and is a die hard Titans fan and hates that AZ has a lot of bandwagon fans that only show up when they win. So, he roots against them.  I'm not a big Cardinals fan, but I personally would like to see my local team do good... although, I'd root for Titans or Lions over them any day.

  • Kiddo doesn't have school on Fridays, and I have the day off today so kiddo is going on a playdate with his best friend while I run to the outlets. Going to get my e-ring cleaned, go to the paper store for some envelopes, stop at the Lindt chocolate store (yuuuummmm), drop by the post office to have the invites weighed for postage, and since my water line to my washer froze, stop at the laundry mat. I hate only getting one day off a week, especially when it falls on kiddos day off too, so I'm hoping to only be gone a few hours so we can enjoy the snow.

I just had to explain to a coworker that an insurance policy that is effective from 1/1/15 - 1/1/16 is currently expired. And it took a few minutes for her to understand.

ETA: @thisismynickname - thank you!! H and I are super excited!

I loved the car episode too!
Castiel has gotten too angsty. If they keep him and Crowley in sidekick mode (let's be honest, the boys need help on both sides) that would work fine by me. They get some of the funniest lines. But given that cliffhanger, who knows now with Cas? And I have to say, I love to hate Lucifer.

  • Eating my words from this morning - just dumped my entire lunch all over the floor in my office.
  • my child is FINALLY well enough for school today.

which is good, because, damn I'd have rather been working this week.  She and I sick at home together haven't been fun.
Although we watched a lot of anime on the couch together, so not all bad.
(also, why does Elmo, who speaks in 3rd person and has a good friend who is a velvet curtain, think it's so absurd his BFF has a pet rock?  THings about to much SS)
