addressing engagement invitations

My parents are hosting an engagement party but have put me in charge of invitations. Should they be addressed the same way the wedding invitations will be or should it be a little less formal? Thanks!

I would say less formal. But I also didn't exactly go "formal" on our wedding invitations because it wasn't our or our guests' style.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

If your engagement party is going to be less formal than the wedding, then I'd use a less formal address style.

The formality of the invitations should match the formality of the celebration.  Fill-in invitations from the Drug Store will do, or you can have invitations printed up.  Remember, you parents are the hosts, and they are inviting people, not you.
All personal mail should be addressed with titles, but for an engagement party, abbreviations are OK.
