What is Your Present?

Words of Wisdom:

I really wanted to get a scalp massage today (my sinuses are going out of control from allergies), but the salon was booked during my opening. So now I think I might spoil myself with a large mocha with 2% rather than skim milk.

What are you all treating yourselves to?

Chocolate shake from M Burger after lunch today.  Yum!
  • I'm thinking that my treat to myself today will probably be going home, taking a nice hot shower and laying in bed to read my new book, while DH watches all however-many-hours of the draft.  I'm interested in which players certain teams get, but not enough to sit there and watch it ALL night long. My back is killing me today, so that sounds like a wonderful evening to me.

Stopped at Tim Horton's on the way home from work to get a tea and a muffin- with a gift card!
  • Going out for dinner instead of cooking.  But that is every Friday night.  And usually Saturday too.  I hate cooking on weekends.

We're getting the house professionally cleaned this weekend, including steam-cleaning the carpets. We're also boarding the dog so he doesn't get underfoot while the cleaners are there. The cleaning is a big present, but we have a new roommate moving in in the next couple weeks, and the old roommate left a bit of a mess.

I also bought new planners for FW and myself.
  • I get manicures/pedicures semi-frequently. And buy myself good makeup.

I love you for the Twin Peaks reference. My current present to myself is a nice glass of scotch from the bottle my manager bought for me on my 5th anniversary with the company and Little House on the Prairie, I have the entire series on DVD.

Everytime someone yells "Get Doc Baker" I take a drink.

Twin Peaks is one of my favorite shows. FI and I may or may not have seriously considered making our honeymoon a trip to the actual lodge that they used for the Great Northern.

I also greatly appreciate both scotch and Little House on the Prarie. I may have to try this game of yours sometime soon.

And everytime Caroline says "Charles Ingalls" in her angry voice.

We all know who really wore the pants in that family.

Eta. Also love Twin Peaks. Born and raised in PNW, I refer to the show as a documentary.

Additional eta, the real lodge from the show is Snoqualmie Falls, stunningly beautiful up there.

Born and raised PNW too! I never saw the show until about 5 years ago and fell in love with it immediately. I grew up in a small one-traffic-light town in Washington, and like to watch the show now when I feel homesick. And yeah, it's been years and years since my family went to Snoqualmie when I was a kid, but I remember the area being beautiful.

Im not entirely sure I just saw it as a Sponsored post on fb from Starbucks - I think it is a trap that is supposed to taste like birthday cake. I like birthday cake ice cream and frozen yogurt so I hope it is good.

I guess it is just offered this weekend to either celebrate the "birthday" of fraps or the birthday of Starbucks.

  • Yay @holyguacamole79!!!!! Praying that the job works out!!!

For me this weekend, my present to myself is spending time with my husband. It was an 8 hour drive to get to where he is, but totally worth it.

I am also soaking in a lavender Epsom salt bath right now before I have to make the drive home tomorrow. Again, totally worth it. I rarely have moments like this where I'm not worried about anything.

Ugh.  Spent the day in bed recovering from medical tests.  More to come on Tuesday.  I hurt.  There is nothing like a two hour MRI to make your muscles ache.
Last week I got a full facial and leg treatment, complimentary from my plastic surgeon's office.  I had never had a facial before.  It was a "bucket list" experience.  Do I look younger?  Hell, no.  Did I feel wonderful afterwards?  Yes!  Would I pay $95 to do it again?  No way!
    I deserve chocolate.

Hope you're starting to feel better!

I had a facial once, after hearing from multiple people how great it is. Nope, nope, nope. I did not enjoy someone standing over my face with instruments.

My present to myself is a manicure and pedicure. I'm getting married in three weeks and want to make sure I like the local salon before booking to go in the day before the wedding.... or I just want an excuse to pamper myself!

Hope you feel better. Last year I had an MRI. It was supposed to be around 2 hours to get images of full spine with and without contrast. Well, the MRI tech was a dunce and after over an hour he informed me that he didn't know how to image my spine because I have scoliosis, so he'd have to ask another tech and I'd have to reschedule. So, I went back next day and spent 2 hours successfully getting the MRI. But, that's a lot of time laying still on a hard table.

My presents: Yesterday I went to work. To reward myself, on my way home I stopped by Goodwill to look at books. It was 1/2 price day and I bought 7 books for $5. DH is sleeping in, so I am spending a quiet morning reading and drinking a yummy chai latte.

I've only had one facial and didn't enjoy it. But the person doing it was all about trying to remove these bumps I have around my cheeks and that was her focus so definitely not relaxing or anything refreshing.

I have 2 Goodwills near me that alternate 1/2 price days on Saturdays... So each weekend one of them has all merchandise at half price. All the books I bought yesterday cost me $1 or $0.50 each. Can't beat the deal.

I LOVE Goodwill, especially for books! My mom gave me a Goodwill gift card for my birthday (per my request), and I am looking forward to spending it.

When this thread was started on Friday, I was in the midst of a Treat Yo'self day... Sauna/steam, massage, hair cut, and a Trail Blazers Game, which we won!

And now it's Monday. Stupid Monday.
