@Swazzle - That picture is so sweet! I hope he can find his ring. H lost his once, but thankfully found it under his working desk.
@southernpeach89 - Yay for your H!!! But boo that you're a zombie today. I sort of feel your pain. I haven't slept much the past couple weeks because of pain, and it's really starting to get to me. I put on some slightly pink lip gloss this morning and covered up the circles under my eyes, and everyone at work is telling me I look so refreshed. I guess I should do that more often? HA. Are you open to co-sleeping? At this point, H and I don't want to co-sleep, but some people are all for it. Or maybe sticking her in a rockeroo or something right next to the bed? Poor Callie and poor mom and dad!
@minskat30 - I hope Raj settles down. Poor guy! I hope you can sneak in a nap today, too.
@jenna8984 - H and I both have the silicone style wedding rings. He has navy, and I have a teal colored one. I've been wearing it since my hands swell so much. We love them! And welcome to the third tri! Yay!!
@labro - I wish I was WFH today! Hope you finish up the grout and can start painting ASAP. Can't wait for you to AW.
@cu97tiger - Happy period vibes! And I hope this cycle is THE CYCLE for you. All kinds of T&Ps!!
@untouchablets - Congrats on the raise/promotion! More $$ is always welcome.
@speakeasy14 - Can't wait to hear more about the house.
@TwoDimes - I'm a Monica, too. I totally get it. H has been in charge of the dirty dishes for the past few months because they trigger me, and it kills me that he leaves them in the sink for a day or two. RAWR!!
Happy Tuesday! Had an early morning chiro appointment. Always gives me a bit of a headache, but he said that's normal. My treatment plan will be 3x a week for 4 weeks and then we'll redo all the scans to see what progress has been made and what areas to target next. Gotta get my spine in alignment and my pelvis rotated back so baby girl will just come sliding out, right???
This morning I got to sleep in a tad since the appointment was at 7:45, and normally I drive in to work around 6:15 or so. I still got up a bit early so I could have a slow morning, and it was really nice. I prepped a roast in the crockpot, washed my hair, cuddled Cricket, made a small breakfast... and NO THROWING UP!!! First day in weeks!!!
Tonight we'll have the roast and I'll throw some baby potatoes and baby carrots in the oven for a side. Easy dinner. H and I need to pick up the house a tad because the cleaner is coming tomorrow. Can't wait.
@jenna8984 How .... okay you know what? Instead of asking how, I'm kidnapping you and feeding you poutine!! I promise baby will love it. Fries, beef gravy and cheese curds. Delish!
Well, today will be an interesting day here at work. Our office is going out to lunch, then later this afternoon a reception is being hosted for our VP who's leaving in 2 weeks. I'm starting to see more of the politics behind all this which I hate. But I guess you have politics everywhere, even in a university setting. The new VP won't start until June 1, so it'll be weird to have a few weeks in between with no boss. Fingers still crossed that I keep my job. I feel pretty confident that I will, but you just really never know for sure.
Anyway, I don't think we have plans for tonight other than hitting the gym and eating leftovers. Which I'm actually really excited for, because that means no dishes!
@swazzle - Sorry he lost his ring. I'm sure he feels terrible about it. @southernpeach89 - I hope Callie starts getting some sleep. H and I have talked about joining our church's Bible study too, hopefully to make friends! @minskat30 - All the healing (and sleeping) vibes to you and Raj! @jenna8984 - That's great that at least now you'll have two days together. @untouchablets - Congrats on the raise! @speakeasy14 - That's very exciting news! I admire you for taking on all that work. @TwoDimes - Ha! That's one of the best Monica gifs ever. @CocoBellaF - Maybe you just needed a relaxing morning!!!
@jenna8984 The plan is once the construction is done on the next house, we'll move in there and rent out our current house. Then do the same once we find another house. My bf's plan is to have multiple houses that will eventually pay for our forever home. I'm most excited for this house because it has land, which means Calla doesn't have to be constantly on the leash. Right now we're right on a major road, so she has to be on a leash. Too much of a risk of her getting hit by a car.

@beachyone15 - Fixed it for you. :-) Keeping everything crossed everything stays the same and the new boss is a good one.
@speakeasy14 - That house sounds lovely! I love the idea of land and a stream! (Although hate the idea of having to mow it...). 1920s houses can be super cool...my hometown had a whole row of them that used to do a sort of "parade of homes" every year.
@CocoBellaF - I have never been so excited to hear that someone didn't throw up! I think that deserves a huge "YAAAAY!"
Morning everyone...good grief, I get here a little late and we're already at 2 pages!
Yesterday was productive and uneventful. I managed to get everything done on my to-do list by about 3:00, so I ran by Starbucks and the post office and picked up a couple of flat rate boxes, then went home and packed up a care package for BF and my Mom's mother's day present. Of course, I promptly forgot both boxes on the kitchen table when I was running out this morning, so I guess I'll mail them tomorrow. Yoga last night and then I watched NCIS on Netflix and drank wine.
Today is more work at the office--I'm going to start writing on the first chapter on the book (!), plus I have finals to grade and a book I need to work on reading. And I have a meeting with another faculty member who's leaving the department and wants me to take over one of the projects she's working on. It's a digital humanities sort of project--an app that makes historical tours for different locations. It's a cool idea, and it would look really good if I could manage to take it on, but I'm not sure I want more work. So we'll see.
Tonight is yoga again (I love that I'm not in class and so can practice every day), and hopefully a short run. I'm feeling motivated this morning...I didn't weigh in, but my favorite yellow pencil skirt is getting too big!
**snip**
Well....at this point I'll do anything that will get Callie to sleep so yes we have co-slept. We don't do it every night but if it gets to the point where she will not fall asleep for more than 20-30 minutes at a time then we will put her in bed with us.
Just to let you know...I didn't want to co-sleep before having Callie and we didn't for a long time but you never know what you would do just so your child will get some rest. I wouldn't count it out yet. That goes for a lot of things that you say you won't do and you end up doing just for the sake of ease on you and your baby.
We packed away her rock n play because I'd rather her co-sleep with us vs. getting used to the rocking motion and relying on that to fall asleep. Plus she doesn't really fit in her's anymore.
@Swazzle Awww look at you two! Babies! That sucks that your H lost his ring Could he wear a Qalo ring at work? And maybe just wear the replacement ring at home/on weekends?
@southernpeach89 Ugh, I'm sorry Callie didn't sleep again That sucks. And yeah, there were some really twisted, gruesome scenes in the show too. We all covered our eyes during the scene I think you're referring to. :-\
@LizzyTish88 LOL I will have a very similar night to you. Dinner and then Me Before You. Twinners!
@labro You guys are so close! It's great that you have the ability to work from home so much during this project.
@cu97tiger YAY! I'm so excited for you and am sending you ALL the vibes! I can't wait to hug you in a few days
@untouchablets Congrats on the raise and promotion! Way to go! Also, confession: Zoey will NOT do "down", no matter what. Our trainer couldn't even get her to do it. *hangs head in shame* She will follow all other commands though. So maybe the lady really is working with the dog and it's just one of those weird things?
@speakeasy14 Oh wow, how exciting! It sounds like an amazing house-- I hope everything works out for y'all!
@TwoDimes Is season 2 of Kimmy any good? I watched the first one, and while it had some funny moments, I wasn't super impressed with it. I feel like you and I have very similar taste in shows (especially comedies), so I'll take your word for it.
@CocoBellaF For some reason "sliding out" made me cringe. Bad visual lol. I'm glad you weren't nauseous today and had a really relaxing morning!
@beachyone15 Oh god, university politics. :-\ I'm considering applying for a job at a local university, but the politics of academia are making me question if I should bother. I hope everything settles down asap!
@futuremrshistorian Good luck with the first chapter of your book! Very exciting! --------------- Morning, everyone!
I don't have much to report. I'm really proud of myself for going to the gym last night because I was really burnt out by the time I got home from work. I ended up doing an 80-minute workout too, which was pretty amazing. Afterwards I read Me Before You from 9pm-1am. H cooked dinner because he's the best husband ever, and I cuddled Zoey during most of the time I read.
Work is crazy right now. A lot of the work I took over from my coworker who was laid off is intensifying, and it sucks because what should take a few minutes takes me an hour since I have to research every last detail and double check that I'm doing everything correctly. *sigh* I left last night with a lot of unread emails, but my boss said people will have to deal with a longer turnaround time while we adjust. I love that she has my back. She's the best.
H is likely working late tonight, so I'll eat frozen food for dinner, work out, and finish Me Before You. Hopefully before 1am lol.
@labro - Thank you!! @futuremrshistorian - I see what you did there Congrats on the weight loss! @eilis1228 - While the pay isn't great, the benefits are amazing! 100% paid healthcare, yes please!
@beachyone15 Ha, that's pretty much my situation at my current job. AMAZING benefits with semi-OK pay. I would likely have to take a paycut for a university job, but the benefits might end up being slightly better. The application also requires a short essay, which is just ridiculous. I'm still mulling it over.
@southernpeach89 Me either. It was awful! Other than that scene, it was a really good episode!
@eilis1228 some dogs just don't like it, Coraline actively complains when I have her do it lol but she does do it on command without a treat. This dog in particular will "down" enthusiastically with a treat lure and will follow a hand signal SOMETIMES, but doesn't do it with a verbal command, which tells me that she just needs more practice. And under normal circumstances, I wouldn't care because it's not an important command, but she needs to do it to pass the CGC test and he wants her to become a service dog so it's obviously a requirement for that too.
I had a dog who refused to go down with a food lure the traditional way, so we ended up tricking her into going down for a belly rub and luring her into position from there, that worked amazingly well so if you really want Zoey to learn it you could try that!
@untouchablets Hahahah Zoey actively complains a lot when we make her sit when she's hyper. I always tell her, 'I don't care, young lady! Sit!" and she does it. It's so funny. We've gotten her to sit by just snapping our fingers, which is really good. I'll definitely try that method for "down." I've used treats and her favorite toys, but her little butt pops up every time. She only lays down when she's tired. She may be more open to learning that when she's older and has a little less energy.
@eilis1228 yep normally it's the dogs who are energizer bunnies, only laying down to sleep, who won't learn down, they don't have time for that! The one I did the belly rub trick with had a LOT of energy and focus issues lol I felt so accomplished when she finally learned it!
@southernpeach89 - Thanks for the advice. I'm open to doing whatever it takes, but hooooopefully we won't need to co-sleep very often. We are getting something similar to a rockaroo to put her in, next to my side of the bed. I think on weekends and nap time co-sleeping won't be a big deal, but H is just really, really nervous about all night co-sleeping. So we'll see! Just like everything else, I'm prepared for my Plan A to fail.
@CocoBellaF I mean yea we are still nervous about co-sleeping which is why we don't sleep most nights because we are usually half awake when she is in bed with us. It's all about her though so if she sleeps that's what we want. You will find out what works for you.
@swazzle Oh no, that sucks your H lost his wedding ring! I hope it turns up! @southernpeach89 Poor Callie and poor you! Do the lunch nap! @jenna8984 Happy third tri! @cu97tiger How exciting! I hope this IVF cycle is successful for you! @untouchablets Congrats on the promotion! @speakeasy14 How exciting about the house! It sounds cute. @CocobellaF I'm glad you had a throw-up free morning!
Re: schooling... BF is considering graduate school and has been looking into the same program I did (forensic accounting). I'm all for it, plus if he had questions I could probably answer them, or hand him one of my reports to look over as an example. Also it would give us an excuse to take an awesome vacation once he graduates.
I am EXHAUSTED today. I worked late at work last night, and once I got home I had some major productivity and cleaned my basement. I finally unpacked some boxes, condensed others, threw things away, AND built a tall shelf. It's crazy how much room I have down there now that some things are condensed and put away! I still have a lot to do, but it's progress. While doing that I used my old boombox from middle school to blast CDs I had in a box I hadn't touched in 8 years. I have to say, I had strange music tastes in college. So much screaming. I was productive up until midnight (I completely lost track of time) and as a result I was unable to fall asleep until after 3. I feel a bit loopy today.
Today's plan is work... I'm hoping my tired mind can process this stuff. Lucky for me, I can get pretty creative and focused when exhausted, so this COULD make for a productive day. I might happy hour with a friend later but I'm leaning toward just going home and taking a nap and rainchecking the happy hour for next week when work isn't as demanding!
@swazzle – Have you made the ST Taco Stuffed Zucchini Boats? I made those this weekend and they were AWESOME. I’m so bummed your H lost his ring though! That sucks!
@untouchablets – Congrats on your promotion! That’s really smart of you to think through it first. But raises are the best!
@MissKittyDanger – I’m glad you’re feeling better! How was the poutine? Any weird variations you tried? I’ve still never tried poutine before, but I love festivals!
@speakeasy14 – That’s so exciting about the house! I hope it works out for you guys! My sister had a similar property for a while, and the stream was slow moving so there were mosquitos EVERYWHERE. I don’t know how prevalent they are in your area, but it’s something to think about, haha.
@TwoDimes & @eilis1228 – I loooooooove Kimmy but the second season made me kind of sick of her roommate, haha. Her crazy landlord is still my favorite!
------------------------
I am SO HAPPY we have our patio set now. Last night, I got home and was super productive for a couple hours so that we could sit outside and eat dinner, and then I just stayed there. For hours. The rain is supposed to be starting back up tomorrow, so I'm trying to soak up as much amazing weather as possible!
Tonight I'm going to try and cook fish for the first time outside of Blue Apron. Wish me luck! Haha
@AlPacina I'm really lame so I don't change it up much, but my mum and I did opt for deep fried cheese curds. Matt got the double pulled pork {fries, gravy, cheese curds, bacon and pulled pork with bbq sauce} There are lots of different variations lol
@wink0erin Somehow blasting music always makes me more productive too. It drives H crazy though! Last night I started to turn on music so we could work in the bathroom and he's all "Can you keep the volume low". Hush, old man!
@AlPacina Good luck! What kind of fish are you making??
@AlPacina Oh it'll be so easy and yummy! We bake tilapia all the time in the oven. I struggle with grilling fish but baked it always comes out perfectly. You'll be fine!!
@alpacina thanks! I was really hesitant. I left management to do this, I don't want to go back into it! But it's gonna work out really well so I'm glad I took the time to think about it too good luck on your fish cooking tonight! I love tilapia!
@MissKittyDanger I went through a few CDs for bands I forgot existed, probably because none of them were big names and all of them honestly sucked. I was really into the local music scene when I was 17-20 years old.
@alpacina Love the patio set!!! I have a landscaper coming to my place tomorrow to do a consultation for the patio I want to put in. I can't wait to be able to chill outside!
I am so late, but oh well. I just ordered my gifts for Mother's Day. My mom worked all weekend on prettying up her backyard (buying a bunch of huge pots and putting plants in them, spacing them around the back fence, putting up hanging flowers from the fence, etc.) My brother is getting her a hummingbird feeder, so I am going to get some solar cafe-style stringed lights for her to hang on the fence or from her back porch. Her backyard will look like a fairy land with everything!!!
Mmmmm all this baked tilapia talk has me craving it. I know what I'm making for dinner tomorrow!
@untouchablets That's exactly it! She only lays down when she's tired and/or wants to chew on her antler or bully stick. When we interact with her, she wants to be up and active.
@AlPacina I remember her roommate not being that funny of a character (minus the Pinot Noir bit), so I can totally see that being true. I really like her boss and her landlord in season 1. I really love Tina Fey, but sometimes her writing falls flat/is overrated.
@wink0erin Holy productivity, batman! Wow! You should come blast music and organize my garage. ;-)
@swazzle that stinks about the ring. My H has a couple titanium ones in case he loses his nice one. @lizzytish88 I love Taco Tuesday. I know BA included fish tacos this week...definitely having them tonight. @minskat30 I hope tonight you get more sleep! You need all the sleep. @jenna8984 yeah for 3rd trimester! @cu97tiger yay sending lots and lots of vibes your way! @untouchablets Congrats on the raise! and extra money is always helpful. Glad you can make it work. @southernpeach89 What is your H specializing in? Reading? I'm thinking about going back to school for educational leadership...or ELL...still up in the air! @misskittydanger poutinefest sounds super yummy.
I would love a do-over for today! I woke up with crazy hair and too little time to fix it. We have state testing this week so it's a lot of walking around and proctoring. Not very fun.
We still are without internet or cable at home, but we have found some really old dvds and blu rays that we haven't watched in years. They are supposed to come on Friday to install our new equipment and my H is SO EXCITED. I'll be happy to be able to go home at a decent hour from work...it stinks being here from 7am to 6pm.
Tonight I plan to make BA fish tacos, unless the fish is still frozen. Back-up plan will be BOGO free Chipotle. It's for teacher appreciation week and I never miss it.
Re: Tuesday
Anyway, I don't think we have plans for tonight other than hitting the gym and eating leftovers. Which I'm actually really excited for, because that means no dishes!
@swazzle - Sorry he lost his ring. I'm sure he feels terrible about it.

@untouchablets - Congratulations on the promotion!

Wow! You should come blast music and organize my garage. ;-)
@lizzytish88 I love Taco Tuesday. I know BA included fish tacos this week...definitely having them tonight.
@minskat30 I hope tonight you get more sleep! You need all the sleep.
@jenna8984 yeah for 3rd trimester!
@cu97tiger yay
@untouchablets Congrats on the raise! and extra money is always helpful. Glad you can make it work.
@southernpeach89 What is your H specializing in? Reading? I'm thinking about going back to school for educational leadership...or ELL...still up in the air!
@misskittydanger poutinefest sounds super yummy.
