Re: No Wednesday Board Yet?!

  • Sitting at my boring job, trying not to eat my lunch yet.

I am going to buy a blender this weekend. Anyone have any recommendations? <$120?
  • Ha, I just did the same.

I've got another committee meeting tonight.  I've got too many damn meetings right now. I'm going to be a hermit, come July.  but I think I FINALLY have special event insurance.  FINALLY.

  • I just had my ass handed to me because I check email a few times (okay, maybe TK, too) on my phone during the freaking hour and a half long "fifteen minute meeting" that I have to attend on a daily basis that has no actual relevance to my current job at all, and I haven't appeared to be "engaged" during these meetings "lately," so now senior management is questioning my work ethic and I've gotten a "reputation" notwithstanding all the excellent work I've actually already done... And yet the woman sitting next to me plays bubble burst saga on a daily basis in these meetings, and the woman on my other side is on Facebook the whole time every damn day.

Bet they didn't get the same lecture I did.

I am starting to really hate this work environment.

End rant. I think it's an ice cream for lunch kind of day.

Work is getting on my nerves.  One month until vacation.  I can make it.

DH did get some quotes (finally) on getting our driveway resealed.  It's only going to be about $200 more than a DIY job.  Sold.   But thinking about all our other projects has me all sorts of ugh, mostly because it's all $$$.

DH has started getting quarterly bonuses, which is way better and going to be more money in the long-run.

  • I've got a procurement meeting at 9 and I'm waiting for my coworker to get ready to go so we can carpool. Its like a 10 minute drive, so we need to leave soon.

I got my hair done last night. It feels so much better and I don't have 2 inches of root showing anymore.

Sunday is FI's birthday and I got him one of those Man Crates. It should be delivered today and it will take everything I have not to give it to him early. I can't wait to watch him try and open it. I did spend the extra $10 to get it wrapped in duct tape :)

  • And my company is among one of the first travel companies to offer tours/travel to Cuba and people are ANGRY.  Lots of "NO THANK YOU!" emails.

Lovely.  Way to keep 'Murica great.  Probably fucking Trump supporters.

Speaking of, I got to listen to DH's uncle wax on about Trump this weekend.  And I was DD, so I couldn't get drunk.  He's a hardcore Fox News/Rush Limbaugh guy, therefore I was not surprised...but still, ugh.
  • Things are finally slowing down here at work, so I'm thinking I'll be able to check TK during the day now some :) woohoo!!!

I started the 21 Day Fix this week. I am dying. I can hardly walk. I did it last summer, so I knew what I was getting myself into. But dang. I can tell I'm much more out of shape than I was last time I did it.

@kimmiinthemitten I just read yesterday's post about the bullet hole! That is so scary! Glad y'all are ok.

I, too, find it really irritating that people who are legitimately engaged at work can get called out for one small break - when people who are in fact, completely disengaged get nothing.

I have four deadlines over the next week and a half. FOUR. And I just got a fifth one put on my plate, while a junior member of my team claims she is "too busy" to take on anything else (she has one very small deadline) - yet is on her phone ALL THE DAMN DAY playing Words with Friends (she keeps her cell phone volume at an obnoxiously high level - including her keyboard volume).

Out of solidarity, @AtomicBlondeI am seconding having Ice Cream for Lunch.

Those people are crazy, because Cuba is on the top of our list of places to see. So excited it's opening up.

Also, I have no idea how you got through listening to his uncle without a drink. That takes some serious patience.

AWESOME GIFTS FOR MEN.  Each crate comes with a theme (BBQ, grilling, whiskey, golf, etc.) and comes in an awesome wooden crate.  Best no-thought gift ever.

I got DH the grill master crate a few years back.  He LOVED it.  I did not see the duct tape wrapping option, though

  • Finally went to the doc today, voice hasn't fully returned - Some MD's aren't worth the weight of the piece of paper up on the wall, this guy is one of them...  Ya know, I get they see 20 patients a day, but I really don't need a lecture on meds I've been on since 2005 that I see a specialist in their system to get (they were booked out to June)...  Nor the "it's a virus" blow-off when I've been dealing with chronic sinus infections for decades now that had been under control - FINALLY...  There shoots another $300...

  • it's funny because that's essentially how I buy gifts for DK, just prepackaged. (E.g. a year or so ago, I got him a few nice bottles of whiskey, some new glassware, and the ice sphere molds)
  • And my company is among one of the first travel companies to offer tours/travel to Cuba and people are ANGRY.  Lots of "NO THANK YOU!" emails.
I will go in their stead; problem solved!

@atomicblonde Thanks for clarifying the ManCrate because I also had no idea what it was; sounds cool though!  I didn't have ice cream, but I took two coworkers out to lunch and they chose Noodles and Co.  I picked what the cashier said was her favorite and it tasted like oily cardboard, so I had McDonalds on the way back.

@thefanciestbeckler - Glad the new job is working out well!!  Thanks!  I'm working on glass quotes to replace it, and it won't affect our refinance since we got our appraisal worked out without a second opinion.  But now we're pretty confident whoever it was was aiming for our cats.  The detective called back this morning and I told him my theory so he said they're going to pay close attention to other callers with similar complaints (none yet) since that makes it a felony.

This is our little one laying down in the window next to the hole, when she sits up it's about an inch over her head and when our big guy sits there it's at his nose :(.

I was a cranky, cranky girl this morning.  CRANKY.

THEN I found out Amazon prime has 1 hr delivery here now.
THEN I weighed myself and lost 3 pounds.
THEN they were giving out free flowers at Kroger.
THEN I got a call that my mammogram payment fiasco (from September) was handled.
Last Christmas my parents gave us a week with @mrs.conn23 company.  We haven't booked anything because we haven't really found something good.  BUT THEN my mom offered to keep the kids for a week during the school year if DH and I want to solo vacation.  This opened a whole new world of possibilities.

    I am no longer cranky.

Wow - this even cheered me up!!

You seem to be on a fabulous streak here. I recommend you buy a lottery ticket on your way home. Just saying.

Ohhhh!! YAY!  Where are you looking to go? And when?
    Cuba?!  :D
  • 6, you just gave me a great idea.  IDK why I don't freeze my chicken in marinade.  We rarely dry rub chicken, so that genius!

@HeffalumpI hate your pta too.  We got a note that said "put on sunscreen at home, bring a water bottle with the kid's name on it, and wear tennis shoes.  If you are an off day kindergartner you are welcome to come, but an adult must stay with you."
  • @Heffalump people in the office across from me are now giving me strange looks because I just laughed, loudly, at the man crate.

Also, I hate your PTA too, but that might be because I read those suggestions is a super snotty, condescending voice.
  • I <3 all of you.

Obviously I am pro-feeding kids healthy food.  (Said the mom who is planning to drive through CFA tonight because the swim team meeting/fitting starts at 5:30.)  But yeah, the whole tone of "feed your child a nourishing breakfast" and "here are some things that can be eaten with hummus" was just so irritating, like we're all idiots who don't know how to feed our kids well unless someone spells it out for us.

Let me tell you, from what I have seen of this school, they do not have to worry about parents unknowingly feeding their kids HFCS spiked with red dye 40.  They are either the people who go out of their way to specify "100% fruit juice" in their shitty little flyers, or they are people like me who roll their eyes at those who do.  I guarantee that there is not one parent out of 1000 at this school who will read this and say "whole grain crackers instead of refined flour, who knew?"  EVERYBODY KNOWS.  SHUT UP.

HAHAHAHA!! That's hysterical! I could totally see where that would come from.

This is what I got him:
