Help me use my slowcooker

Re: Help me use my slowcooker

  • I just made this the other night and it was really good: http://ellysaysopa.com/2016/05/03/slow-cooker-southern-style-chicken-and-dirty-rice/  I used turkey kielbasa and calculated the calories to be around 450.  H had some bread and butter with this to add extra calories for him.

I prepped it all the night before, I have a metal liner in mine so I just did it straight on the stove, then put in the fridge.  H works at home so he just put it in around 1pm so it was ready around 7, but I bet it could go longer since the rice doesn't go in til the end, and it'd be fine to sit on warm for a bit too.

I'm a sucker for chicken in the slow cooker. I usually just throw some chicken breasts in and a jar of honey garlic or teriyaki sauce and let it cook all day. So great with some basmati rice!

And then I also love "hot sauce chicken" - I have a Frank's obsession, I put that sh!t on everything! Toss is some chicken breasts, a packet of powdered ranch mix and then a medium size bottle of Frank's and let it cook all day. I shred it, toss it in the sauce and then eat it on a bun w/ some cheese. Although you could probably still eat them as whole breasts.

  • I make "hot sauce chicken" all the time! My fiancé requests it weekly--he can't get enough! I throw it on salads, wraps, sandwiches, or just eat it out of a bowl. Really good with some blue cheese crumbles or a little extra ranch dressing.

I made this for H over the weekend and we LOVED it! He said it needs to go into our regular rotation. I put in a can of pinto beans as well, because I had a random can that I've been trying to find a use for, and it was a great addition.
