@jenna8984 - LOL, this time a "camper". I did a 3-week summer institute sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities. 3 weeks of reading and talking and using my brain a lot. It was awesome!

@jenna8984 - I had 2 fillings from a few months ago drilled out and medicated fillings put in but my bottom jaw wouldn't numb so I ended up with a total of 7 shots in my gums.

@AlPacina I wish I could advise you, but I need to restock my book list on my kindle. Right now I am reading a memoir by a former scientologist. It's called Beyond Belief...It's okay. I'm probably going to steal a few titles from what you posted.

@Swazzle - Nope, haven't read Hunger Games yet. I think I mentioned before that I saw the first movie before I even knew it was a book series, and then just decided to wait to read them until I had watched all the movies. It's time now.

@twodimes My bf is wanting a civic or accord. So that's what we're going to look for. Ideally we'd like an SUV of some sort as our second car (aka mine), but I really just want something that runs. And yeah my bf's mom is just like your MIL. She's made comments about how I need to clean and organize.

@AlPacina see I just never invite anyone over haha. Then it doesn't matter what my house looks like. Read Hunger Games. I was able to get them free through the kindle library, not sure if they're still available.

@500days - I love memoirs. They're by far my favorite genre. And I've considered picking up the book you're reading more than once. I tried reading Going Clear, which is the book that HBO documentary about Scientology was based on. I only made it through about a third of it, but I think I stopped because it was a journalist author, and it wasn't my favorite writing style. Have you read The Glass Castle? It's sooooo good.

@speakeasy14 - Psssh, you people and your Kindles. I'll just buy the hard copies. I have a billion bookshelves that are not even close to filled right now.

@AlPacina Yes! I think Glass Castle is actually a real book that I own, not an ebook lol I have to find it and reread it again. The book I am reading now is good, but it's very repetitive in describing how every day went for Jenna Miscavige. I read HG and that's definitely a good read!

I finished Callie's little project! We had a play space/ living area upstairs so I put it up there. I want to add more to that wall so in the future there will probably be more stuff to go up there:

@AlPacina I vote for Hunger Games and Kite Runner. Mainly because I need to read Kite Runner, too. It's come up about a million times in conversations lately.

@500days I've fallen in love with the cookie butter cookies at TJ's. So. Good.

@TwoDimes That sunset!! How wonderful you have such a gorgeous porch to enjoy it on. Our landlords put benches on our front porch, but there's always so many people walking by it feels weird to sit out there and read a book in the evenings.

I'm BACK! For now, at least. Next trip (senior trip, to San Diego) is one week from today.

We just spent a week in Ferguson, MO doing a mission trip and man, it was a doozy. It was really cool to give my students an opportunity to see the difference a media portrayal can make on a community and how important it is to work for peace and community before things hit a breaking point.

But, it was also a crazy long time to be away from home (10 days) and I missed H and my dogs. And GoT, which I immediately caught up on when I got home. I really don't want next week to be the season finale.

Apparently, while I was gone, Stevie (my boston terrier) took a bit of a downward turn in his health. He's always had problems walking and the heat usually makes it worse, but according to H, he hasn't been recovering after being outside. He can't stand up for more than a few seconds and he can't walk more than a few feet without falling down and having to stay there for at least half an hour. It's got me worried, so I put him on some pain meds that we have for him and I'm taking him to the vet Friday.

On the other hand, he's being sweet and cuddly and Molly (our other dog) is being super sweet to him.

I'm taking students to see Finding Dory and Through the Looking Glass at the drive in theater tomorrow night, so even though it's work, it will be fun.

H told me to basically shit or get off the pot when it comes to moving to another state, so, and I know half of you are exhausted of hearing this, I'm buckling down again and figuring out how to move across the country. If you've done that before, please, by all means, give me your advice!! I feel like this time, with all my dad stuff behind me, our marriage in a better place, and 9 years of career experience behind my belt, I'm in a slightly better place as a human to make this thing happen.

And thus concludes my way too long post because I've been lurking in the shadows for forever.

@AlPacina It was actually started by a bunch of ladies (and my mom) years ago who all lived in the same neighborhood. It's still mostly the same core group but it's changed here and there. Some months people flake but usually at least 5 people show up no matter what, sometimes as many as 10 and it's always a lot of fun!

Hi, all! Thanks for the vibes! The interview went really well. They liked all my answers, and I think the job would be a good fit based on talking with the rep I shadowed. They said they still have other interviews to do and this is one of their busiest times of year, so I likely won't hear back until next week. It's going to be a looooooong week!
