Airing of grievances

Because we haven't done one of these in a while, and I could stand to get some petty grievances off my chest.

If I post three photos on Facebook, it's not necessary to like that post, and then individually like each photo contained therein.  I get it; you like it.  Normally I wouldn't care, but I had a shitton of notifications just now and was wondering what the hell happened on Facebook, and it was 95% that.

Your turn.

Re: Airing of grievances

  •  Also, don't tell me to focus on Project A as my one and only priority, and then assign roughly 3 dozen new tasks that "need to be done ASAP" while simultaneously admitting you could have done them yourself last week, but preferred to wait til I was in the office so you could tell me to do them.
Our last boss was notorious for calling everything our #1 priority.  Our graphic designer (who is leaving--[tears]) once tallied them up and we had 14 #1 priorities after one meeting.
  • Still with the IL's @atomicblonde?  It's time to start blocking those crazy people!

My grievance is with my email.  My company changed names and thus email addresses in 2010, but we all still receive emails sent to that old address.  Somehow my old address was sold to some super spam group so I'm getting all sorts of ads all day long.  Because they each come from a similarly formatted webpage but with different names and addresses, IT is having a hard time blocking them all.  I've spent two weeks unsubscribing hoping it would help, but nope.  Today I've received Dr. Oz's weight loss plan, a brain enhancer, a credit card offer and a notice from the US Solar office.

  • The secretary at my new office is weird. And doesn't seem to like doing work. As part of my contract I get a new computer and get to choose from a variety of packages and I ask her about getting the process set in motion after I send her two emails, which she doesn't reply to about getting a computer ordered. She finally tells me it's been forever since she's done that (seriosuly its been like a year since you hired someone new, but whatever) and I should just call IT. I ask her if I need her or the department head to sign off or if I can just order it. She tells me to just order everything. I look through the packages, contact IT and they tell me I can't order it, it has to be done through the DH or secretary and that they fill out all the forms. The run around was such a waste of time.

Also, she refused to stand up and shake my hand when I met her for the first time. She just sat in her chair, leaned back and extended her arm, as she's reading something on her computer (and yes, I waited until she was done/looked up before I started talking).
  • @kimmiinthemitten yeah, this time it was because I "didn't respond" to a series of texts about DH's GM being in the hospital (but since she and I communicate on the regular, and anyway, DH knew, it was a non-issue), but apparently a lack of response from me was PEARL CLUTCHER material.

Idk how much more explicit I could have been when I emailed/FBd everyone "HULK SMASHED MY PHONE, PLEASE EMAIL ME UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE."

I have another grievance with AT&T and their "warranty" coverage and the "insurance", but it's just too exhausting to get into right now.  Scams, all of it.

  • The club has me working a lot more this summer.   Plus I work my year round job.   I haven't had a day off since June 11 and have only had 1 day off since Memorial day.   Next day off will be July 31.  3-4 days a week it's both jobs.      I'm way too nice to agree to this schedule.  However, me working helps DH at work.  Things run smoother for him when I'm there.    Only 6 more weeks of this schedule I keep telling myself.  Only 6 more weeks.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • You can try and "invade" my inner circle; you're not going to succeed.  Every single one of them is smarter, more experienced, more stable, more emotionally available, and a more beautiful person than you are.  They will not fall for your bullshit now that you've been caught in your tangle of lies.  They will always be #TeamVaruna and you shouldn't forget it.

Please don't use my name to threaten my GF.  You don't know me, you don't know our relationship, and just b/c YOU don't approve of something she's done, sure as hell doesn't mean you get to trot my name out and assume I wouldn't approve either.  At this point, I'd like to kindly invite you to go fark yourself.  There, now you know a little bit about me.

    Stop micromanaging my every breath.

  • There is a lady in my office who is getting a boob job in a couple of weeks.

It is literally ALL. SHE. TALKS. ABOUT.

I can hardly take it anymore. I share an office with another lady and this girl will come in and talk our ears off about her boob job for 15-20 minutes at least.

I've actually read that you shouldn't unsubscribe to spam emails because that just triggers the site that it is a legit email address and you will get more. It is different if it was a place you actually gave your address to but true spam it supposedly makes it worse

we knew it was coming eventually (and honestly, it needs it) - but we *just* shelled out for 2 new AC systems, so really, the timing could be better.

looks like we're down to 1 shower until this gets fixed - although, on the positive side, no more carpet in the bathrooms, and this one didn't take me putting my hand through the wall before we realized there was an issue.

  • Comcast (internet, t.v, phone) has been out since Thursday. They told FH they would send someone out on Sunday, no body showed and when he called they told him they had said Tuesday (they didn't because he never would have agreed to that). Since Tuesday won't work now they aren't coming till Saturday.
  • If I have to yell at my kids to a) get a long and/or b ) GTF outside...I'm going to lose it.  2.5 more weeks.  Sweet baby jeebus, they are probably going to be the longest of the summer.

So, with the VistaPrint coupon for 50% off right now, I'm trying to finalize a few things so I can order the bulk of my invitation suite (invites, RSVPs, and accommodation cards for $158?  Yes, please!)

Meanwhile, I text my sister to give her the coupon code because she told me she wanted to use VP for the shower invites.  So we start talking and now she's passively aggressively criticizing my ceremony starting at 6 ("but it's YOUR day so do what YOU want" direct quote).  She swears I told her 4pm ceremony (has been 6 the entire time) because her 18 month old daughter is invited and she'd like her to be awake and not crabby for family and because crabby babies steal the spotlight.

    I can't.

Tell her 4pm IS what you want. :)
  • Dear "Jesse," at Anytime Fitness.  My time is precious, and quite limited, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not here for small talk or to make friends.  Yes, it HAS been a while.  No, I have a migraine, thanks for asking, anyway. The point, here, "Jesse," at Anytime Fitness, is that I'm here to sweat over some cardio, not sweat over how much your small talk is cutting into my half hour window that I pay $30/month for. • My coworker goes as long as he possibly can before he takes a breath. Like, every time he speaks, he ends up straining on the last few words before taking a breath.

IDK why but this is annoying the piss right out of me.

I have found that to be true with spam faxes.

Yes, my workplace still has a fax machine. #bureaucracy

Comcast sucks. Make sure they credit you for the service for the days that it was out.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Spammers are not worried about CAN-SPAM violations; they are already emailing you crap that they know you didn't sign up for, they're already breaking the law. They don't give a shit about making sure you have a way to unsubscribe, so I can see them using that as bait. That's interesting.

On another note, Pokemon Go makes me feel like I live in the Twilight Zone. I refuse to download it, but on the 4-mile round trip home for lunch, I saw an average of one person per block obviously playing it (walking slowly with little clear direction with their phone directly in front of their faces, looking up and around occasionally, stopping and pointing their phone into empty spaces - like the middle of a road, and then continuing on). I find it irrationally annoying.

  • @kimmiinthemitten, is her daughter 18 months old now or will be at the time of your wedding?  DefConn was pretty easy-going at 18 mos.  But we never arranged plans around his nap/sleep schedule.  He rolled with whatever.

Also, does she have a sitter plan?  We invited SIL's IL's because they took my nieces (whom were 1 and 2 at the time) home with them when it was time.
