Morning! Sup?

H and I went to see Hall & Oates last night and it was a really nice time! It was a later night than I would have liked, especially being sick, but I'll survive.

Tonight I'm home alone so I plan to immediately get into LLRs and onto my couch. I have to watch this week's PLL and Sunday's BB before tonight's BB at 8. I will then promptly be going to bed.

So ready for 5pm!

Yesterday I got some cleaning and laundry done and some work done on my car before we head to the beach this weekend. I always like to get it checked out before I go and drive forever. DH left for work early so I picked up Callie early and played for a while with her before going to small group.

There was another little girl at small group last night who was only a couple months older than Callie so it was the cutest thing watching them play together. My heart was melting all over the place.

Tonight I need to do some more cleaning before we leave for our vacation this weekend. I hate leaving the house dirty for a whole week while we are gone. Then I'll probably go to CrossFit and get dinner ready. I'm making Ham and Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppy Seed dressing.

@southernpeach89 - I'm not feeling any better. My throat is on fire, I can't stop coughing, my sinuses are definitely trying to erupt my whole head, and my whole body is achy. Callie was probably ADORABLE playing with her new friend yesterday!

@Swazzle I'm so sorry you're still feeling icky. I really hope it starts to clear up soon. Watching Callie play with another little girl her age was so awesome. They would babble to each other and stand and pat each other on the head. It was soooo cute!

@southernpeach89 Awwww I love seeing Callie play with other babies! That must have been so cute!

Well last night I found out I got a (small) raise, but it's better than nothing! I'm glad I got something...even though I was highly disturbed by my boss telling me not to expect it every year. Lovely.

I finished Caught by Harlen Coben and then I picked up Some Luck by Jane Smiley. I started reading it late last year and never finished it and I was only a few chapters in so I was able to start reading it again pretty easily. I finally spent some time updating my Goodreads account for the first time in a million years too.

Despite FEELING like poo, I attempted to at least not LOOK like poo today. I'm wearing the white pants that I finally bought along with one of my favorite SF tops ever and my new sandals from Target!

I had a bad nose bleed this morning

Stupid sinuses.

Last night I worked until 6, which is late for me, and then I realized that my new work schedule will be 9-6, so I need to adjust. Everyone at my current company works 9-4:30ish. I have been spoiled. I guess I'll start working 9-6 the rest of my time here so I can get used to it and figure out a new routine.

Lunch from yesterday was rescheduled to today, and my boss is joining us. The coworker who initiated lunch said she has work drama to vent to my boss about (this coworker manages a different department). Should be a fun lunch.

Other than that, it's the same old stuff. I live a thrilling life, y'all.

@TwoDimes I mean, if you have to work on your birthday, at least you'll walk away with a bunch of free food and other shit right?? I swear...my raises aren't much...they probably fall in line with less than what I think of as a normal COL raise. They are pretty shitty lol.

That drink you had sounds super yummy! I'll have to try it sometime!! I'm sorry your FIL is being a pain about your life plan. You and your H are already super adulty and doing all the awesome things...so screw them and their opinions on how they think you can do better.

Not much with me. I just signed up for my course that will bump me up a job/pay and I'm pretty excited! There's a lot of reading involved, but exam isn't until January so I have time to study, pack and move. I wanted to sign up as soon as possible so I could slowly get into it

We ordered our mattress last night, and it's to come on the 23rd. We also got a mattress protector, for obvious reasons. Picked up fast food on way home because my uncle was coming with our table. We tried Popeye's Louisiana Chicken ... it's not bad, but we're not going back. Too much spice for me

We got our table back and it's GORGEOUS!! I would AW but I can't on my work computer, so I'll post it later.

Suppose to be stupid levels of hot for the next 2 days, so I'm essentially just parking myself in front of a fan and doing nothing lol

I'm back!

H and I had a great long weekend in Dallas. We got a city pass which allowed us to see the Geo tower, Perot museum, JFK museum (where he was assassinated), and botanical gardens. Unfortunately, H has all the pictures on his phone except a couple at the gardens ---

We were so impressed by the botanical gardens - probably the best I have been to! The JFK museum was also really powerful - seeing exactly where JFK was shot and old photos of him and Jackie. It was so surreal.
We also went to this place called "Spa Castle" which had multiple pools with massaging jets and different sauna rooms. We came out feeling so relaxed! There were a couple of other baths/hot tubs I wanted to try but you had to be completely nude for those and I chickened out, lol.
Our last night we went out for dinner and a drink. It just so happened that the bar we went into was playing The Bachelorette on all screens! We probably had about 6 drinks while we sat and watched it. There was a group of girls there that heckled some of the people (mostly guys) who would walk in and then walk right back out. It was pretty funny. I assumed it was their weekly viewing spot.
Overall we had a great time and ate ALL THE FOOD so we're getting back on track this week. On our drive home yesterday we stopped at the outlet malls and I found so many cute clothes for work! I really want to go through my closet and get rid of a lot. I haven't had much luck shopping lately but I had really good luck at the outlets - Loft, J. Crew, Gap, and WHBM. So I told H I'm only shopping there from now on!

@swazzle - I love Hall and Oates! I bet that was a great concert - the kind where you could sing along to every song!
@southernpeach89 - I saw the photos you posted of Callie and the avocado. So cute! You are raising her right!

@labro - Every little bit of $ helps I suppose!

@beachyone15 - Wow! That archway of trees looks incredible! Have you been to Victoria, BC? Their Butchart Gardens is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

@AlPacina - I know! That spot almost doesn't look real, but it was so incredible. Lots of people were taking engagement/bridal/quince photos.
I haven't been to BC but I would love to! I imagine it's beautiful everywhere in Canada.

@beachyone15 I did my bridals at the Arboretum! A family friend is the director of events there, so she hooked me up. I'm glad you had fun in Dallas! A friend of mine is obsessed with Spa Castle.

Just got Ani down for a nap so hopefully she stays down for a bit. Yesterday was a nightmare and she didn't want to sleep AT ALL. Just wanted to say hi.

Today my best friend is coming into town so I'm trying to run around and make the house somewhat presentable for her arrival (i.e., no stacked dishes and clean sheets on her bed...my standards have lowered...lol).

Tomorrow is a full day. H's swearing in for his citizenship is tomorrow so I'm really looking forward to that! And Ani's one month check up is tomorrow (about 2 weeks late) so hopefully she is growing well. Afterwards we plan on celebrating both milestones at a tapas place.

Meh, the drama was less than stellar. Just stuff from our Missouri office. The LADY who was hired to replace me does not get along at all with another employee there (and there are only 3 employees in that office), and apparently she ends up in tears frequently after they fight. Interesting.

Lunch was really good. I got a ham and cheese quiche, some fruit, a side of soup, and a giant chocolate chip cookie that was as big as my face. Not too shabby!

@minskat30 Have fun with your best friend! That's so exciting too about your H! Congrats again to him!

Sorry, just re-read my post. Should have clarified. My replacement, T, currently works in our Missouri office. The Missouri office only has 3 people in it. She does not get along with another employee, B. B is the aggressor, not T. T apparently ends up in tears after their encounters. I have NO CLUE what they fight about. Very strange.
