Morning. I hate Monday.
My weekend was pretty good. Friday Lucy came home and she is such a stinkface (literally, from the skunk). Bailey and Brody would not leave her alone, they just kept sniffing her and were all up in her business lol. Thank god she is a patient pup. I went out to dinner with my mom and aunts then home to watch BB and went to bed early.
Saturday I got up and went to the beach by myself for a few hours. It was HOT and the waves were so huge and strong that the first time I went to cool off, I got knocked down and immediately tucked my boobs back in. I went home and H and I got water ice for lunch and then I napped for almost 3 hours. I got my period and just felt overall terrible. I was so exhausted and had such a bad headache on top of normal cramps. We ordered pizza for dinner when I got up and then I went to bed at 9pm, still feeling awful.
Yesterday I woke up feeling so much better (even my cramps were gone) and I had a mostly lazy day with H. We started and watched half of season 5 of GOT, straightened up the house, and did the laundry. H went out for a few hours and I laid on the couch and read (I'm forcing myself through Slaughterhouse Five). I had some shandies (summer, grapefruit, and ginger!) and watched BB and got a decent night's sleep.
Tonight I'm making Skinnytaste Honey Teriyaki Drumsticks in my Instant Pot and cauliflower fried rice and hopefully watching more of GOT with H.
The end.

Re: Monday
We had a pretty good weekend. Friday we went to Subway for "date night" because that's how broke we are (due to my stupid, unexpected car repairs). But I tried a new sandwich that I actually really liked (Italian BMT). I also finished HP 1 and started the second book.
Saturday I went to get my eyebrows done while H did some yardwork. Then we met up with my dad, mom, and brother to celebrate my dad and brother's b-days. We went to one of our favorite burger places and to see Star Trek. It was good, but H and I agreed that we liked the last one better. We went home and I made a penne pasta bake for dinner, which was delicious.
Sunday was a glorious day of doing nothing. I made banana bread and put a roast in the crock pot for dinner. H and I just lounged around the entire day which was much needed.
This should be a slow week for me at work which is good, but I just hope it goes by quickly!
@swazzle - Sorry you didn't feel well on Saturday, but it's nice you got some beach time in! I wanted to go to the pool over the weekend but it was 100 degrees here, so I decided NOPE.
I also have to say congrats again to @jenna8984!!!
And I'm so jealous of @southernpeach89's vacay. The water looks beautiful - which beach were you guys at?
@beachyone15 sounds like you had a good relaxing weekend too!
Friday I got out and BF and I went to my Aunt's to swim with my cousin and her kids. My other cousin came by too, and my mom. We then went home to clean up and get ready, and my cousin picked us all up to head out to dinner. The place we went was really good!! That night we were home early, so I started a puzzle.
Saturday I really wanted to go to the beach, but BF didn't want to come and I can't get myself to go alone. So he ran to his mom's to help her with some stuff, and I worked on my puzzle more. When he got back, we headed to my Aunt's again. This time my Aunt and Uncle were in the pool with us too. We hung in the pool for a while. That night we went out to Buffalo Wild Wings. It was just okay. When we got home BF had a glow on, so he was being obnoxious. I was trying to do my puzzle but he wasn't having it, so we decided to play Battleship to keep his attention. I smoked him!!
Yesterday we hung around for the morning. We then ran errands and cleaned up around the house. I finished my puzzle! When then started watching The Night Of on HBO. It was really good. We watched the first two episodes, ate dinner, and then watched the third episode when it aired. We watched Ballers too after that. BF is really into that show, I could give or take it.
I was also stalking the LLR page, because there were these sunglass leggings that I JUST missed on another page so I was not missing them last night! I got them too so I was so pumped! LOL.
@TwoDimes - OH NO! Butt holes are no good. Do you have a cardigan or anything you can tie around your waist to get you through the day? Or you could totally flaunt that neon blue hole.
@TwoDimes That sucks. Do you think it's a spot you'll be able to fix? Or just remember to wear black undies with it every time?
Ugh Monday.
@Swazzle Poor poor Lucy!! I hope her stink wears off soon. I'm glad you're feeling better today but ugh periods are the worst.
@TwoDimes Omg I am lol'ing over your dress butt incident. I'm glad you'll be able to sneak home and fix it quickly. ETA OMG SURPRISE VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@beachyone15 Yay for relaxing weekends! We were at a tiny beach called Inlet Beach. It's right next to Panama City Beach.
I'm so so so tired today. I was woken up twice by our neighbor's dog barking and I just didn't sleep well to begin with because of work stress. I really wish I was still at the beach working on my tan.
Saturday was go home day. I took Cinders for one last beach side stroll/swim before we packed up and drove back to Georgia.
Yesterday I slept in til 8:30 or so and then H and I had a lazy morning together. We made grits and sausage and eggs over easy and it was soooo delicious! The perfect post-beach trip pick me up. Then we did some yardwork because everything was a jungle and grilled steaks for dinner! Tonight I'm probably going to make spinach and mushroom lasagna roll-ups from ST for dinner and sitting on my butt and reading. I think I went through three books last week and I'm on my 4th - The Fig Eater. It's something of a historical mystery type of novel and it's pretty interesting so far.
@lizzytish88 that looked like a crazy hard puzzle
@twodimes yea for anniversary surprises! Can't wait to hear about it
Weekend was ok here...lots of cooking, cleaning and baby entertaining. I did get a few walks in too, which was nice. Wanted to go to spin this morning for the first time since I had Ani but she had me up at 2 after I got to bed at 11 then 5 again so, yeah, nope. Maybe tonight?
@twodimes Hopefully the hole isn't that big and no one notices. Surprise trips are the best!
@labro ugh they're still leaving the dog out?! Those neighbors suck.
Friday I left work early to go to my bf's friend's wedding. For being thrown together in a few days, it was beautiful. Probably one of the sweetest ceremonies I've ever seen.
Saturday, I had my friend's baby shower. I told her mom I'd come early to help set up. Well, my friend's husband's mom took over and went nuts with decorations. People were showing up and she was still handing us decorations. Party ended up starting an hour late. My friend ended up asking me which gift was mine so that she could open it first since I needed to leave. As soon as she finished opening my gift, I blew her a kiss and then ran out the door. Met my bf at the house, fed the dog, then drove two hours out to my old roommate's for my nephew's first birthday.
I was so exhausted from running around all weekend that I barely left the couch yesterday. After my bf got home from work, I went food shopping. While I was loading the car, the freaking shopping cart rolled over my foot. So now I have a lovely bruise on my pinky toe. Tonight I need to do laundry, otherwise it is just going to be a relaxing night. I also need to work on the cheerleading dance that I'm helping a coworker with since her team starts practice next week.
@swazzle – So the book isn’t your favorite, I take it? Haha
@beachyone15 – Have you tried Subway’s rotisserie chicken? It’s actually really freaking good. Italian BMT is in my top 3!
@LizzyTish88 -

@TwoDimes – A surprise getaway sounds AMAZING! As does your redneck pool.
-----------------------
My BF left before I got out of bed on Saturday to go do an overnight mountain climb, so I took my time getting out of bed. I took Marv to the dog park, and cleaned my car, then spent a good 4 hours on my puzzle. I think I passed the 25% mark now (meaning I've done all the somewhat easy stuff and now it's just trying out pieces until something fits time). @LizzyTish88 is a master!
Saturday night was my friend's "Fuck Cancer" party, so we went out to an amazing dinner with some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Then the 7 of us went to some strip clubs, because that is something she enjoys doing with friends. I'd never been to one in Portland, but OMG. It is some of the raunchiest stuff ever.
It was REALLY hard to get up Sunday morning, but I made the drive to Seattle and saw A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. It was SO GOOD! It's one of those you have to see to enjoy though. The soundtrack itself isn't super amusing, but when people are singing emotional songs at the front of the stage, and someone in the background is dying a terrible/hilarious death, you can't help but laugh your butt off.
Friday night was gaming, and I knitted more.
Saturday there were thunderstorms, and they weren't severe! I had forgotten what it's like to get rain that doesn't mean you have to go to the basement - it's been relentless up here this summer. "Million dollar rain" usually has a different meaning for the farmers, but with all the large hail this year ...
Anyway, in the evening H and I went on a walk and played Pokemon Go.
Yesterday we did a little housework and H made HC fried chicken, which was pretty damn good. We went on a walk to Dairy Queen in the evening (a quick walk - the mosquitoes are out in force and there will be no more outdoor walks until the city sprays/fogs). We captured a Pokemon Go gym, which was unintentional but funny because, frankly, we're not strong enough to keep a gym. So we had one for all of 10 glorious minutes.
Tonight I'm going to do some cleaning for a couple hours (whatever I can get done) and H is going to make either HC Philly Market Roasted Pork Hoagies or HC Hibachi Steak and Smoky Yum Yum Sauce. Then we'll probably take a walk indoors somewhere, and I might knit a little.
ETA: I've been listening to an audiobook - "The Tudors: The Complete Story of England's Most Notorious Dynasty." It's very interesting; I've been enjoying the background information provided each chapter to put the Tudors in broader historical context. And it's narrative, so it's not as dry as more "traditional"ly-written histories.
Last week I read - Some Luck by Jane Smiley; At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen (AMAZING!!); Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen because At the Water's Edge reminded me how much I love her writing style; and I just started reading The Fig Eater by Jody Shields which is kind of historical mystery novel.
@beachyone15 Our house was located in Inlet beach which is about 1 mile away from Rosemary beach. We were really secluded which was perfect for Callie and the dogs. It was gorgeous.
@TwoDimes OH NO! That's the worst. I have a couple Nike shorts that have gotten snagged in the dryer and I'm to the point where I'm like...it's a pea hole and I don't care anymore if someone sees some skin while I'm working out and look a hot mess anyways lol. I hate that it happened to your dress though...
@speakeasy14 AW Fun! I used to love making up dances for cheerleading. I would always judge try outs for the middle school teams and make up the dances. My favorite thing by far!
I'm so exhausted today...Callie is going through teething hell right now with 3 coming in at the top sooo yesterday we were all in hot mess station.
Friday DH and I got back late from the beach so we had take out from Cue and went to bed early.
Saturday we took our time in the morning getting ready and had two birthday parties to attend that day. The first one was for DH's coworker and their daughter turned one. It was a cute Alice in Wonderland theme and she went to town on her cake. It was adorable. The second one was for a couple in our Small Group and their son turned two. By this time Callie was DONE and was very fussy so we only stayed for about an hour and half. She zonked out that night.
Sunday DH had to work all day so I took Callie with me to run some errands. When we got home I thought it would be fun to hang out in the backyard with her in her baby pool but she was not having it. She screamed and fussed and was very very irritable. So we went inside and I tried to see if she would nap....NOPE. So most of the day was spent trying to help soothe her. It was exhausting. And I also found out Maddux caught fleas from somewhere despite having all his flea and tick meds so today I need to go to the vet and switch brands to see if that helps.
Today I'm catching up at work....DH has to work tonight so I'll be washing all of Maddux's beds, our sheets, and vacuuming everywhere all while taking care of a screaming teething child. I need a fucking break all to myself without the husband and the child and the dog. It has been a tough time doing this by myself these past few days.
@labro - I can't believe you're still having issues with your neighbor's dog. That is so fucking ridiculous.
@minskat30 - I've never read it and it was on sale for $2 for Kindle so I decided to buy it and give it a try. I hope you make it to spin! You're like Superwoman with all that you do.
@speakeasy14 - You had such a busy weekend! I hope your toe heals up quickly!
@AlPacina - It's really weird and not my style book at all. And I swear if I see "so it goes" again, I'm going to smash something (I will totally see it again, probably within the next page, and I will most likely not smash anything). What kind of cocktails did you have?
@KeptInStitches - Omg you're making me miss Home Chef so, so much! Both options for tonight sounds incredible.
@southernpeach89 - I'm exhausted from reading all of that! You need some 'me' time STAT. Complete with copious amounts of wine and relaxation.
@KeptInStitches - H & I got the steak with yum yum sauce and had it for dinner Friday night and it was AMAZING. One of my favorites of all time, in fact.
@southernpeach89 - I'm glad you had a great time at the beach, but I'm sorry you need a vacation from your vacation. I feel like that's always how it works out - I'm more tired at the end than I was at the beginning!
@AlPacina - I love the rotisserie chicken from Subway! I was skeptical, but it's really good!
@TwoDimes - I've definitely worn things with little holes before and not realized until far too late haha. I can't wait to hear about your anniversary surprise!
@beachyone15 - You have to keep all us Potterheads updated on your thoughts about the books! I've been trying to get H to read them, and he finally promised that he'd start reading them sometime this year... I told him that starting Book 1 on NYE does NOT count.
@LizzyTish88 - LOVE the sunglasses leggings! I got a pair of blue tie dyes and a cobalt blue Classic T... that I'll have to convince my husband I've had for months. NO, REALLY, H. They've ALWAYS been here. We're also watching "The Night Of" and it's SO good.
@Swazzle - I'm coming over for dinner. See you later.
****
I've been SO BUSY you guys. Work has been crazy - we have a big initiative that we're putting together for my client that has been non-stop work, and I had a huge event on Saturday at a local fair. I left my house at 7:30 a.m. and didn't get home until 12:15 a.m. It was super hot, and then it would pour rain, and be cool for about 30 min, and then get blistering hot & humid again, and then pour rain... etc., etc., etc. all. damn. day.
Yesterday I literally just laid on the couch all day. H had been down in CT for a family reunion/picnic, so he got home early afternoon, and I snugged with my pups.
Biggest news of the last week? I have a new niece!! Sweet little Palmer Elizabeth was born on Wednesday afternoon. She was only 5lb. 2 oz., so just an itty bitty little peanut. Because of work & stuff, we haven't been able to go out to meet her yet, and she's going to be in the hospital until Wednesday probably, so hopefully we can go out this Sunday (I have ANOTHER work event all day Saturday, UGH) because I cannot WAIT to get my hands on her.
I'm not going to share pics yet, because she's not mine to show off on the internet, but she's beautiful and perfect and I love her and I cry every time I get a new picture of her.
@Swazzle You are flying through GOT! You'll finish in no time!
@beachyone15 I'm so jealous that you get you to read HP for the first time. I miss it all being new and exciting. I hope you love book 2!
@southernpeach89 Big, huge, ginormous hugs, mama! I'm sorry Callie is so fussy and teething on top of a very busy weekend. I really hope you can relax tonight.
@TwoDimes Ohhhh how exciting! A surprise getaway! Your H is so sweet.
@AlPacina @LizzyTish88
@speakeasy14 I'm glad the wedding, the shower, and the birthday party went well! What a busy weekend!
-----------
Sorry, if I missed anyone. My computer is suddenly not wanting to function properly.
My last day of work was really fun. My boss brought in a crap ton of donuts, and a few of my coworkers got me gifts too. We went out to lunch together, and my coworker on maternity leave showed up with her baby girl. I'm really gonna miss working with such great people.
Friday night we went out with @audrewuh, her H, and a former NEYer (I can't remember her name on here). It was so much fun! We went to a fancy drink & bowl place, and we had some really good food too. I mastered the art of gutterballs and had an amazing score of 56.
Afterwards we walked across the street to a bar, and we hung out for a few hours and chilled. Lots of fun!
Saturday H, Zoey, and I went to a friend's house for pool time and grilling. It was so much fun! After that, we all went to dinner at this amazing fried chicken place, and then we all watched Galaxy Quest. We left around 11:30 that night, so it was a solid 12 hour day. I was exhausted.
Yesterday H and I bummed around the apartment all day. I did absolutely 0 things.
This morning I went to the gym, and I've spent the last few hours cleaning because @audrewuh is on her way over for a Sewapalooza. We will sew, watch movies (probably HP), and maybe drink some wine later.
All in all, unemployment has been really fun. I should be unemployed more often.
@eilis1228 - I'm glad you had a great last day at work. It really is rare (at least from my experience) to get to work with people you actually LIKE.
@eilis1228 Ugh I am sooooooooo jealous of your days off before your new job starts. Sounds like your old employer gave you a really nice send-off!
