Who's ready for fall?

Well it's been about 85-95 degrees here in the Boston area for about a month, with no cooling down in sight. The city is sticky and the people are sweaty. There has been no rain, the grass is ugly and dead, and everyone is honestly more miserable in this heat than they are in the cold dead of winter. I know it's July and this is expected, but, I'm over it.

I'm ready for cool mornings, boots and light jackets, pumpkin beer, apple cider doughnuts, lighting a fire on chilly nights, and pretty foliage.

Re: Who's ready for fall?

  • I absolutely love the fall, although I'm not a basic white girl and obsessing over PSLs everyday.

However, winter seems to last from October-April here, so I really don't want that snow, miserable, cold, dark time to come.

I don't mind fall, but it tends to be wet around here.  We can get snow  as early as mid-Oct.

Right now we run about high-80's to low-90's during the day and mid-50's at night.  With low humidity.   Perfect :)

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • NOPE!

I'll never like Fall, Winter, or Spring. I'm the person who misses Phoenix right now and when I was there last month, thought 108 felt fabulous!

  • Me!!!!

we had big plans today and they lasted 3 hours because it's brutal. This is Michigan, if I wanted unbearable heat I would move down south!

I'm in Arizona so fall type weather doesn't come for quite a while. And as a teacher who starts back to work next week, I'm not ready.

Fall break in October lovely though, but I can't look that far ahead. The heat here doesn't bother me though.
  • I super hate summer.

An electrical storm knocked out the full power of my electricity in my house (it takes 240v's to run the a/c unit and right now all I have is 120v's) on Thursday.  It is now Monday and comed still hasn't fixed it.  In case you're wondering with no a/c and no breeze for any air flow during the day, it has gotten up to 89 degrees in my house.

I told the lady on the phone, she seemed nice enough, but I still don't think I'm a high priority on their list.

  • Nope. I love summer. It's been 90F + for a week now and expecting the heat wave to last through the end of the week. Bring it on.

I'm home now. The A/C is cranked up and I'm watching the opening of the DNC and drinking an ice cold Yuengling.

Seriously. It's hotter here than it was in North Carolina.
  • I'm ready. Fuck this heat.

I'm with you.  It's brutal here too.  Spring and fall are my favorites, temperature-wise, although I don't mind winter's cold air as much as snow not being plowed and it being tough driving/parking conditions.  The only things I like about summer are being off from work (though i feel it less now that I only work part-time) and the extra daylight.
  • I'm ready for fall for two reasons: our wedding and the fact that fighting fires isn't AS stressful on the body when it's a little cooler. Beyond that, bring on the heat. Plus, I grew up with no air conditioning so I'm not as bothered by it.

  • I love baseball, picnics, and summer produce. I hate boob sweat, crappy ACs, and summer clothing that highlights my insecurities.
  • I don't want fall yet!   I want more beach time and boardwalk walks at lunch.

Boob sweat and spanx....both items I can do without in the fall!!

  • The only things I would miss about a world where October was the only month of the year would be tulips and fireflies.

  • Also ready. Give me all the heat relief, the cute clothes, the pretty colors, and the football weekends.

Meee!! I despise summer. Although we finally got central air installed yesterday, we spent the weekend sweltering and said enough is enough. I guess I can manage until fall/winter now.  I should probably add this to the "nice things your SO has done" post...since its the BEST THING EVER!

  • So ready.

Our A/C stopped working yesterday. I think you could back muffins in our house. Without the oven.

  • I'm just anticipating it not being so damn hot! We move end of September and it's just too hot to pack :(
  • Me!!!! I hate the summer. I can't run outside, I can't do anything without sweating through my clothes. At least cold weather I can put a jacket on! Hot weather I'm just suffering and miserable.

  • Yes!!  I hate the heat with the fire of a thousand suns (#ironic)

I love, love, love old houses but my 1929 bungalow far predates the days of central AC.  One of our long-term plans is to retrofit whole house central air, but that is ungodly expensive (30K+) and until then it's loud, view-obscuring, uneven-cooling window units.  I long for apple picking and pumpkins and that little nip in the air and being able to snuggle up without feeling gross and sweaty.

I will miss my garden, though.  I am growing veggies for the first time as an adult and it makes me actually *want* to go outside in the ungodly heat just to gaze upon them with joy.
  • I'm ready.

I love Tennessee, but there is just no relief from the heat in the summer. We hit the ground running with record breaking temps in May and it hasn't stopped since.

I just want to wear big sweaters that cover up my married lady bod. Is that too much to ask???

And Thanksgiving dinners, and fall scent themed candles, bonfires, but most of all for HALLOWEEN!!!  It's my Christmas!

People were complaining on FB that stores were already getting our Halloween decorations in July and my response was "Shut your whore mouths!  I have to put up with freaking Christmas Creep from October-December, it's about time we get some Halloween creep!"

I need all the time I can get for all of my crafty plans, mwahahahaha!

It's not the heat that bothers me, it really and truly is the humidity.  I got to experience 100+ days in Montana for a wedding a few years back, but there was no humidity at all and so I could handle being outside.  It wasn't bad at all.  It's this 90+ and 90%+ humidity that I just cannot stand.  I feel like I'm stuck up Satan's Asshole.

I live in a Victorian house so I feel you- no central air, but we make due with window units because it's worth it to me to live in the type of house that I love.  Have you looked into those Mitsubishi units, rather than actual central air?

  • I love summer, but usually by the end of each season I'm ready for the next one.  Not quite there yet.  I don't mind the heat too much and like being forced to walk slowly.  I can't get enough of the lake and ocean; swimming and sunning.  My tan isn't deep enough yet to last me late into the fall.

But I do feel bad for my dog and husband, they suffer in the heat.

I like every season except mud season - March and April are painful.
  • I'M SO READY FOR FOOTBALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I went to a concert at Soldier Field a few weeks ago and got all itchy for football. Today is the beginning of training camp and I'm all giddy again.
