Rehearsal dinner invitations

in Pre-wedding Parties
FMIL wants to send out paper invitations to the rehearsal dinner that she is hosting. She asked me what time frame is appropriate for sending them and I didn't know.

What is appropriate? 2-3 weeks? A month?

Everyone who is invited to the RD already knows about it (WP, SOs, and immediate family). This will just provide the details.

    I sent invites out 8 weeks to go with RSVP 3 weeks before, and invited people to RD 4 weeks to go.  Reason it was so far in advance was it would change people's travel plans if they were to attend.

    I have no official "data" to back this up, but I think 4 weeks is appropriate. Enough time to give you a head count if you require, enough time for guests to make plans (they should already know by then if they are or are not attending the wedding).
