Re: Presidential Debate #1

  • We are!  Getting the wine ready now.

What do I expect?  Rampant devastation or a snoozefest; no in between.

  • What do I hope happens?

    I don't think I'm that lucky.

I think this is a test of Lester Holt more than the candidates.
  • Watching, unless I get too mad and then I'll cut it off.

I don't know what I'm hoping to see.

  • Trump is already bothering me and he hasn't even spoken yet

Trump sounds like a kid who just got called on in class when he didn't do the reading assignment.

I know, exactly. I wish he could say one single sentence without interrupting himself.

  • And he's not offering solutions.    He's only saying that he's going to reduce taxes.
  • She's getting a little hot under her collar which IMO she absolutely must not do. Not that I don't understand...

  • Also, shut the fuck up! It's her speaking time!

Ugh... he keeps going off track. Focus man!

I also do agree that just because he is a good business man (up for debate), doesn't mean running the country like a business will work.
  • I didn't plan to, but I'm watching.

The thing that is striking me the most is the overt racism that Trump is displaying. No matter the topic. Does he even realize that this whole "President" thing is far bigger than just our country??? I frankly don't see him being able to have civil, informed relationships with other countries (and God forbid they have a different skin color), which is just so unacceptable.

My favorite was when he bragged about not discriminating against wealthy minorities in West Palm Beach.

My WTH moment was Trump referencing Sean Hannity to verify that he opposed the Iraq war. Sean Hannity from a faux news show. This is reality, Dumbass.

It was clear throughout the debate that he doesn't know what he's talking about. The constant sniffing is just weird.

Hillary did a great job, as I expected. I like it that she and Lester let Trump ramble and talk in circles and off topic. Brilliant.

So, any guesses on whether he'll back out of the other debates. I hope not.

  • And he wasn't serious on Stern but was on Hannity.    Again with telling us that we shouldn't believe him depending on the venue.
  • NPR did a live fact check alongside the debate. Did anyone else follow?

I haven't checked it yet this morning to see what updates and additional commentary they made, but it was pretty fascinating.

I tried to keep up with the drinking games but I realized that this morning would've been a bad bad time if I had drunk every time someone said NAFTA or women or family or middle class.

If I did one at a bar, every time he said "tremendous", I might be in debt to the bar. Might dot it at home though.....

I followed along last night. On the NPR facebook page there were people complaining about bias against Trump in the fact-checking. Yeah, it's SO weird how facts are so often biased against the GOP!

  • @spockforprez If you check it this morning, they definitely called out Hillary on some of her statements...but yes...isn't it amazing how there is so much bias against a man who just makes random, completely false statements on the fly?
