Where has this year gone, y'all? Another month, and we'll be busting out the Advent calendars.

Can I just say how much I love my neighborhood? Because I love my neighborhood. DH took the kids on the first leg of ToT, so I was sitting out on the porch, sippin' my pumpkin ale, and there were so many people out. And the kids were so happy. The lights were on, the sun was going down, the leaves are still mostly on the trees, so it was pretty. Everyone was so nice: I met neighbor Garrett, on the other side of our next door neighbors, past the entrance to the walking trail (thus, a much bigger distance between our houses than with many of our other neighbors), of the beautiful Rottie and the adorable Sofia the First (Gigi). While Wooz was out, a couple of her friends/classmates from the next street over stopped by and struck up a conversation while they waited for her to return. The kids were all just awesome, and even the big kids were polite.

I took the kids on the second leg (and this is the first year that we actually did a second leg), to the other end of the street, and people were so kind. "Take as much as you want," "Here, have some more," "You're not going to stop?" (Me: "Oh, thank you, they were actually just here with my husband." Them: "I don't care, take some more!") I posted this in the other thread, but I weighed what was left of the candy after DH and I had been picking at it for several days: 13.6 lbs before we started, and by the time we switched off the porch lights and put the kids to bed, we were down to a handful of Snickers, M&M's, and a couple of Tootsie Pops. I put cider on the stove with some mulling spices before we started, and we all had hot cider for bedtime. (Even though it was still in the 70's for ToT and we didn't really need it this year.) There were a lot of tired kids at the bus stop this morning.

Misty/foggy today, so it feels a little more like fall. Cooler weather on the way. I have our open enrollment meeting/presentation in 15 minutes, so I'd best bring my coffee with me.

I will start. And yes, this is the best one I have this year: DS was either yawning, trying to grab my phone, grimacing, or sometimes all three.

Halloween was fun. We took DefConn to a couple of neighborhoods.

DH has scaled back with work stuff because killing himself was getting him nowhere. So he got home before this bus this morning and DefConn was so freaking happy.

I'm excited for the holidays *BUT*, I'm trying to get a handle on the next 2 months or so and it's pure crazy.

We had 3 kids for t.o.t. and only because we went across the hall and asked them to stop when they went out. Usually we don't get anyone. We bought a small bag and have just enough leftovers

Can't wait to see all the WW kiddos in costume.

We have out so much candy. Probably close to 1,000 pieces. It was great seeing so many neighborhood kids. Any thoughts on adults ToT (without children)? First time I experienced this and thought it was odd. Also I feel really bad for my next door neighbor kid (even though I hate their women for Trump sign). They decorate then entire house, tons of lights, pumpkins, etc, and they sit inside with the lights off. And they have a 10 year old daughter who isn't allowed to go out or ToT. I feel bad for her. I think I'll take her some left over candy today.

Looking forward to seeing the WW kids' costumes!

Kiddies so cute!!

So I was home yesterday, so weekend wrap up!

I completely forget what I did Friday after work. Lmao!

Saturday - H went to a movie with his friend, and I walked up to the dollarama for some last min things we needed for the pumpkin carving party. Had enough change in my pocket, so picked up some Starbucks

I did my makeup twice. Originally did Queen of Hearts, but wasn't fan of the red so I took it off and did kind of a dark circus idea.
I'll try to figure out things and post the halloween makeup I've done lately.

People were fucking late. Like hour and half late. Urg ...

Anyways, pumpkin carving went well. One of my friends has been sick {like me, with that stupid cold going around} so she left early.
Played Zombie-opoly, and watched "Nightmare Before Christmas"
People left late, so didn't crash until late {like 2am ... guh}

Sunday woke up feeling awful, figured it was just over tired. H and I spent majority of the day on the couch watching Halloween movies. {Casper, Ghostbusters, Young Frankenstein}

Woke up Monday with my face hurting so bad. Ended up staying home and headed to clinic. Sinus infection

Dr also heard my cough and isn't thrilled with how it sounds BUT can't hear anything in my lungs/chest, so hoping it's cold related and it will go away. Doesn't hurt, just sounds awful.

Anyways .... came home, got makeup done. I did half my face with sugar skull idea, other half was just normal makeup with same colours done. Next year my friend is having halloween party for house warming, so I'll be doing a better version. I told H he has to dress up also, but I can do a skull. Maybe he'll let me do sugar skull version $:\$

We had so many kids!! Pretty constant from about 5:30-8:30pm ... so cute

Tonight isn't much. Making mac & cheese, getting our flu shots and I have to call the loyalty department for our cable provider. That's going to be fun ... hopefully I can lower our bill.

We actually had a lot of ToTers this year! And most of them were in costume! And most of them said ToT! Complete opposite of last year so I was pretty happy about that. However, I will say that I think it's wrong for adults to be ToTing. We had a 30 year old Batman come up to the door. H gave him a piece of candy, but he was side eyeing the shit out of him. It's one thing (that I also don't agree with) to take your baby ToTing and have a bag for them, but this guy was by himself. The last group of kids we had were not in costume (I can't hold that against them in my neighborhood) and were rude AF. As I was walking out the door to give them candy, they started grabbing in the bowl. I told them I'd do it (I wanted to be sure to have enough candy for other kids that might come by) and they backed up, but then were offended that I only gave them 3 pieces each and that they didn't like what they got, so they reached on in and exchanged it. Then, one of them reached in and grabbed another handful before running off. I miss the days when nobody bitched about their candy until they got home.

MIL, her sister and her husband came over last night. MIL's been gone since Sept 25 so Mouse hasn't seen her in over a month. He wanted nothing to do with her. She said, "Grandma brought you a bag of goodies" like that is going to sway an 8 month old. Her sister made potato "soup" and brought some over for us. I'm thankful she brought it, but it's obvious that this woman doesn't cook. It was only soup in the sense that it was floating in liquid. It was literally diced potatoes in milk and butter.

I finally got my new monitor for my new computer at work yesterday, but the IT dept didn't give me admin privilege in Windows so I've been fighting with them for half an hour this morning. This computer is useless without my old files and I can't transfer them without admin privileges.

here's DK and Wolverine. I was on candy duty this year because of the bronchitis/cough - wasn't up for walking all over. It seemed slower than last year, so not sure if it was just because it was a school night, or what. The people in general were polite and we got a lot of compliments on our decorations and pumpkins. we have a pop-up grim reaper that scared a bunch of people, the funniest being a teenage girl. the fog machine seems to be the second scariest thing - kids have no idea what to make of the fog.

OH! Almost forgot! Angel {tuxy cat - I believe I've posted a photo before} turned 11yrs old!

Also, did anyone die a little with the little kids dressed up with their parents? H and I basically had to keep reminding ourselves to wait until next year BUT THEY WERE SO CUTE!!

H has a voice he uses for younger kids. Not in "talking down to them" kind of way, more of a sweeter/softer version of his voice. I die a little every time I hear it.

It's all DK. His dad has gone BSC in the last 7 years or so and goes all out for Halloween and Christmas. I need to see if I have any pics. I told DK that he could decorate as much as he wanted, within reason. (i.e. not like his dad - we helped them get the decorations out of storage last year, and it took the 4 of us the better part of an afternoon.) DK usually tries to pick up one or two new things each year.

Lol I love when grandparents decorate. My granny {mum's mum} decorates for every holiday, always has even when my mum was growing up. Makes the holiday always feel more special.
I should take a move from him and pick up stuff

This was our first year even being able to decorate so we had nothing. {correction - we had 2 pumpkins}

I am loving the photos of the kids!

DH was a ToT Scrooge. He kept all the lights off. I boo-hooed him, because it was one of the things I was most excited about in our neighborhood, and he said, "I can't deal with Dumb and Dumber barking all night long, and the cable/internet/power company still hasn't dealt with the downed cables at the top of our stupid steep driveway [from when the tree fell and caught fire a few weeks ago], so all I need is for a 2yo Batman to trip and take a header down the hill."

Sigh. If I had been home, we'd have totally had all the ToTers. Maybe. That hill is really steep.

Co-worker is out this week, and he conveniently forgot to tell me we(I) were(was) still meeting with the site management to go over... Well, IDFK what. It's Week 3 for me, and I can barely use the computer system here. So, I was there all voiceless and he was just looking at me, like, "...." and I was like "....." and he was like "......" and I was like "So... These are the issues I am following up with." And he wrote them down, said he would check up on things for me, and then was gone in under 5 minutes. Two weeks ago, the meeting was 30 minutes.

I want to bury my head in the sand.

WTF AM I DOING.

Exactly! I get if Halloween isn't your thing/against your religion/you do something else. But they decorated TO THE NINES, then sat inside all night. And I'm a creepy and could see inside their house so I know she was home, sitting around looking sad.

What is with the posts about adults ToTing without kids? That's just bizarre. I'm not going to get in a fight with a crazy person over a tiny candy bar, but it would be tempting to pull the candy bowl away and say, "NO!! Bad Batman. You need to be 12 or under for candy."

Sadly, my Halloween was just another day. I live on a short, out of the way, block. In the 5 years I've lived there, I think we've had 4 groups of ToTers stop. Two groups each for two different years. And none this year or last year. Oh! And the my block is dark because the City can't be bothered to change the light bulbs in the street lights EVER, EVER, EVER. At least they've never been on since I've lived there.

It's just as well. My H eats half the candy before the holiday rolls around anyway, lol.

I wonder if she got herself grounded? My kids would have to do something pretty horrendous to be grounded from ToT, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Possibly, but I'm guessing unlikely. They did the same thing when our street had the annual block party. There were clowns, face-painting, food, music, raffles, and prizes for kids, and she wasn't allowed to participate either. She was playing with a neighbor kid in the yard until right before the event started, then she had to go inside for the rest of the afternoon/night. I don't want to judge someone's parenting, but it just seems pretty weird.

we didn't get a single tick or treater. Not that excepted to get any. Our neighborhood is a bunch of townhouses with the front door on the second floor. Too much work to get some candy. Just on the other side of the rugby field are stand alone houses, wealthy ones at that. Everyone goes over there.

I do not decorate for halloween. Now that I think about it the only holiday I do decorate for is xmas. The rest of the year I decorate for the season. And even then it's minimal. Right now I have fall stuff up, then it goes xmas after Thanksgiving. Then I have a winter door wreath, spring wreath and summer is a giant metal gecko I got in the islands.

I'm kind-of over this no working thing. DH isn't working either (club closed) and well, I'm just not use to spending this much time with him. We are such all or nothing people. Summer time I get one meal a month and no full days off with him. We are going on week 2 of breakfast, lunch and dinner together and seeing each other all day. Looking forward to winter when we get your standard 1-2 days off together and dinners 3 nights a week.

the neighbors across the street make me sad. (this is the jagoff that parks his pickup behind our driveway and hit DK's car) - they have 2 little girls (6 and 3-4ish) and they're never lit or ToT (at least in our neighborhood).

Here are the girls. They had a blast. Someone was handing out jewelry and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. I actually wonder if this lady owned the $1 jewelry store that closed down.

Boo! I can't see some of the pictures because of stupid IE at work I will have to come back later to check them out, if they are still up!

We had barely any ToTers come to the house. We had a whole bunch of adults walking around the neighborhood, but not many kids. I think our women's group must have done something to centralize the kids. We were able to give away about half of our big bag of candy and we will donate the rest here at my office - they give it to soldiers overseas and local soup kitchens.

We got to see baby again yesterday! She is all the right shapes and sizes! She was being difficult and moving all around for the tech, so I feel like she has my wormy genes in her! My parents always said if I were the first, I would have been the last! I was a wiggle worm and would climb anything once I got moving. They had to install a hook and eye on the outside of my bedroom door because anytime I would be put down to sleep I'd immediately climb out of my crib and try to escape my room! There was many a night, my parents had to push the door open with me sleeping behind it!

And here is a picture of Betsey in her Halloween shirt. It's very true to life, this dog would eat just about anything! Olive didn't have to wear her shirt because I couldn't find it. She hates wearing it and I think she purposefully hid it from me! H & I searched everywhere it could be on Sunday night and nothing! So she got a reprieve!

Morning WW! I'm loving all these pics of everyone's kiddos/furbabies/selves in costume!

Y'all, I have been so sick with the worst cold. Thanks for passing around your germs I spent the whole weekend holed up in my house with tissues, lots of medicine, and my dogs. I was running a fever until last night. I called in sick yesterday, but I'm back at work today - in body, not necessarily in mind. I feel so out of it! People keep coming in my office to check on me, but I feel like a member of the circus with the way they're staring and standing really far away. I'm not sure which is worse, getting sick or returning to work after being sick.

No trick or treaters in our neighborhood That is one thing I will be sad about as long as we live in our house. We're in a culdesac up a huge hill in a part of the neighborhood that gets little to no traffic. All of my neighbors are older, so no kids even on our street. I was thankful for that last night though! The last thing I wanted was someone ringing the doorbell.

On a bright note, it's November. Lots of good things happening this month. In a couple of weeks I'm going to see Keith Urban in Nashville, then I have several days off to visit DH! I'm not sure which one I'm more excited about

I love all the pix too! We had a lot of trick or treaters from 530 to 7 and then nothing. So now we have a 200+ piece bag of Skittles/Starburst that was opened and then just one kid came by after. And H burned his hand because I mentioned perhaps people thought we weren't "open" with the black light on the porch so the house looks dark - so he goes to change it without first turning off the switch or letting it cool down and then of course gets pissed at me because it was my fault saying he should change it back. uh oh, ok.

Wow, ugh. Apparently even the wholesome fun of a family-friendly block party is a sin. Very sad for that little girl.

And you know that always backfires. She'll probably grow up to be a wild, extra rebellious teen. Staying out hours past curfew because she's drinking and partying with her friends.

We forgot we had dinner with MIL last night and the forgot to set out the 5 gallon bucket of candy so we pretty much failed at halloween.

Re: teenagers/adults ToTers. My mom would always make them do a trick to get their treat. A joke, a cartwheel, a funny face, anything really. Some people balked at first but it was fun to see what they would come up with.

ha I know, right? I mean had he not switched the regular bulbs to black in the first place we wouldn't have had a problem, but nope, it's my fault. Of course as it turned out we had ZERO trick or treaters after that which didn't help his attitude
