Hair

I have a swanky LGBTQ+ black tie fundraiser to go to.  At the same time, it's "creative" black tie, so I was thinking about doing a faux mohawk braid.  But I'm not sure.  This is the dress:

Hair thoughts?  Other fun ideas?  I do think I want an updo, b/c my hair is so long and thick right now, it gets hot.

Re: Hair

  • I like the faux Mohawk braid idea. What about something like this? Kind of a spinoff.

Love the dress.      My idea of doing my hair is a ponytail.  I'm not much help there.  Sorry.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Dress is lovely. Do you have photo of what you're trying to go on with hair? I'm just not picturing it ...
  • rent the runway?

the mother of one of my childhood friends basically always had her hair in a fauxhawk sort of style (sometimes a braid, sometimes puffed out), but not in a "cool" way - unfortunately this is the first place that my mind went. I'll have to see if i can find a picture.
  • I saw your title and now have the "Hair" song from the '60s or '70s stuck in my head.

Love the dress!  Not picturing the kind of up 'do you are referring to.

  • I love the faux hawk idea and think it plays well with the gold line down the back of the dress.  Add a bad ass smokey cat eye and you're on!

Yes.  I actually just paid for their membership.  I always have 1-2 events that I need a formal for/year and they give you a rental free on your birthday.  The S&H savings pay for the membership.

Yeah, those pictures are what I have in mind.  I've been practicing doing it myself and I can get a decent enough result, but I think I'm just going to pay for someone to do it.  My hair is long enough and thick enough, but it's fine, so I have to backcomb it so much that my arms get way tired.  It took me about an hour to get it how I wanted.  I'll be volunteering to help set up the event, so I don't really want to do all that work on my own.
