H and I are super concerned. Our pup, who is a rescued 12.5 shepherd/lab/??? mix has had zero appetite since Saturday morning, has been lethargic to the point where we have had to physically pick her up to help her move at times, and this morning she started vomiting yellow.
She has been drinking water, but we aren't sure what is going on. Her daycare is also an animal hospital, so we are having the vet check her out while she is there today. They are taking bloodwork and expect to get those results back tomorrow. I am really hoping this is nothing serious.
She was totally fine on Friday afternoon and was super enthusiastic about dinner. We keep a close eye on what she eats and to our knowledge she wasn't given anything she shouldn't have on Thanksgiving. And in the years when she has been fed things she wasn't supposed to have, it's only taken 12-24 hours to get it out of her system.
Her levels were checked at her checkup a few months ago and they were all fine then too.
I'm having a hard time concentrating at work today because my mind is on our puppy girl. It's alarming to see her go from super energetic one day to a weak shell of herself the next. Has anyone else with older dogs experienced this? Could it be the flu?
UPDATE: H just talked to the vet. They really want to see what the lab results are. But the good news is that she does not have a fever, and there is no tenderness present in the physical examination. In the meantime, we have some meds to give her and prescription food. I am hoping it is easy to coax her into eating the Rx food. The poor thing needs to get some nourishment in her.
