This thread is hilarious. I have a hard time believing this is 'our' perfect ring box as the title suggests. Whilst Navy and gold is nice, it isn't a 'classic' ring box colour that every jeweller uses. In fact, there isn't exactly an industry standard to this- Debeers is white, Tiffany's is black, Cartier is burgundy, etc. Not that you need a designer ring from these places, but that every jeweller usually uses their own colour and style ring box.

I guess what I don't understand is why don't you just propose to yourself. You are obviously writing a script that your fi needs to follow. Is it really the 'perfect' engagement if only you are having input into it?

Proposals are 'perfect' because it is when one's boyfriend/girlfriend asks one to spend their life with them. Not because of a box, setting, location, outfit or any other silly faff. When you make it a play that both of you have rehearsed and planned to the detail, you take away the beautiful, unexpected, wonderful moments.

In fact, if you have discussed getting engaged and the proposal this much, congratulations- you are already engaged. One doesn't need a performative, grand 'official' proposal. Engagements are just two people deciding to be married. And if you have discussed this down to the ring box, I think you two have already decided.

My suggestion is reevaluate your priorities if you are getting worked up over the perfect ring box that may or may not be used for 20 seconds.
