Friday!!

How's it hanging?

I got some sleep last night and feel much better today.

Wednesday night was rough because I wasn't feeling well, and then DefConn got in bed with me and he wasn't feeling so hot.  Neither of us slept well and he ended up staying home.  Also, I found out by checking my phone at 2am that my friend's dad had died.  I had ignored her call around 11pm because I wasn't feeling well and then I felt horrible.  :(

I talked to her last night.  It was very similar circumstances to how we lost MIL.  She's hanging in there the best she can.

We don't have much going on this coming weekend, except that I have to work.  The kids and DH might go hang with FIL tomorrow.

What's up for your weekend?

@mrsconn23 I'm so sorry about your friend's dad! Was he sick?

I did not sleep well last night. And in the last 4 weeks or so, I have become really itchy on my torso and arms. This morning I woke I up with a slight rash on my stomach. I had been planning on asking my OB about this on Wednesday, but then my appointment got cancelled. So I am planning on asking the MFM specialist on Monday during my appointment.

Today we are having a "Pats Tailgate" at work in our cafeteria. Everyone is in their most festive Pats gear. The "tailgate" is from 3-5pm. Which means I will make an appearance and then sneak out to go home at 3:30.

Sunday we might be having friends over to watch the game, but they just got their toddler on a new bedtime routine, so it may be a game-day decision. I still have a bunch of cute Super Bowl foods planned. If it's just H & I I will be a little bummed (looking forward to hosting a Super Bowl fiesta for the first time!), but on the bright side, there will be more food for us, and I can watch the game in my jammies.

Not that they were aware of.  He had a massive heart attack. He was a vegetarian, he tried to walk or bike as many places a possible, and he made pottery in his spare time.  :(

Oh god. That is so awful. It's always the hardest when our loved ones leave us suddenly. And the fact that he led a very healthy lifestyle has got to be so bewildering for his family. I'm wondering if he had high LDL levels - my grandfather had a heart attack when he was in his early-to-mid 60s (back in the early 90s) and he always ate healthy and swam two miles every morning. Come to find out he had high LDL.

My heart goes out to you, your friend, and her family. That's just so sad.

@mrsconn23 - sorry to hear about your friend's dad.  Very sad.

Pretty low-key weekend planned for us.  Relaxing tonight and maybe a run to the grocery store.  Tomorrow we will go and watch my nephew wrestle. Tomorrow night a musician is in town that we like so will go and hear him.  Sunday is church and the making of the annual Taco Soup for Superbowl.  Then watching the game - mostly for the commercials since the Packers were eliminated.

MrsConn - Hugs and prayers for your friend.  That is so sad.

Sparklepants - itchy belly can be common for pregnant ladies, but usually in the 2nd & 3rd trimester when your tummy is getting ready to expand more.  If you are about to start showing or can tell already yourself - that could explain away the itches on your torso.  I don't know what to say about your arms!

Not much went on yesterday.  I didn't do any of the cleaning/putting away that I wanted.

H is starting to feel better.  He left bed again last night for the couch, so I had another wonderful night's sleep!  He was scheduled for a root canal next Friday, but with his sickness its flamed up and is causing him pain.  He called the dentist to hopefully get in early.

I am leaving for an ultrasound shortly to check on baby's position.  Can't wait to see my little girl again!  Its been 12 weeks!

I am also hoping to stop at the shelter we got Betsey so I can provide them with her extra meds.  They will make sure they get used by their facility or someone in need.  They don't open until noon, so I'm not sure if I will be able to stop after the ultrasound or not.

This weekend is SIL's birthday dinner on Saturday night.  Church probably on Sunday.  Attempting to finish the tile in the bathroom Sunday afternoon and then going to my brother's for the Super Bowl.

    Aw Mrs.conn that's terrible.  I'm sorry.

I went to bed at 10 last night and didn't wake up until a kid came in asking for breakfast...at 7:30.  My head is swimming in snot.  I'm taking M2 and Max to science class then we're going out to lunch.

No big plans this weekend.  I have work to do but otherwise we'll eat a bunch of junk Sunday and that's about it.

I did plant a seed to DH that we need to redo the kid bathroom.  Right now they have a big vanity, but only one sink.  There's a big open spot where conceivably you could put a stool and a get ready at the counter, but we could use another sink more.  The only storage is two 4" wide drawers (one broken) and a wide open space  They fight every morning.  I mentioned they could use a remodel before high school.  His instant reply was "they need it now.  I'll ask dad to keep an eye out for a new vanity."  I replied "they need a toilet too."  him "might as well do the tub too."

@mrsconn23  sorry to hear about your friend's dad :( I'm sure she'd understand considering you weren't doing it to be rude. I get how she feels <3 I saw your post about what happened. I did some research after that happened to my dad {for peace of mind} and there are 2 types of heart attacks. One means you have a heart problem and can be fixed, the other {cardiac} means you have a heart and electrical pulses went through the heart badly. Unless there is a defibrillator on hand within 5min or less, chance of revival is slim. That's the type my dad had.
Doesn't make it easier, but knowledge is power sometimes. How is her family doing?

Tonight we're doing groceries, and hopefully doing trunk or closet doors in spare room. I'm hoping closet doors so I can get on doing stuff in that room and cleaning up.

Tomorrow M's taking me for blood work at 9am, then we're headed to the mall because HMV is closing and I want to see about any deals. There's a lot of cute onsies that I may pick up for future use. I told M if I buy them, they're going straight into the closet and only if they're on good deals because I'll kick myself if I miss out.

Sunday we're going to a Super Bowl party. Luckily it's within walking distance because I'll wanna just go home and go to bed afterwards. Also if I feel sick - like nausea, which happens every so often - I can just go home.

That actually makes a lot of sense - thank you! Today was the first day where only one pair of my pre-prego jeans fit, so that probably explains the itchy tummy. The arms I will definitely ask about on Monday though. I am well hydrated and well moisturized, so that one is a stumper!

That's a really good idea to bring Betsey's meds to a shelter. We have meds from our previous pup, along with some prescription wet food and I was wondering if there was anything I could do with it. Thank you for the great idea!

@mrsconn23 I'm so sorry about your friend's dad. That's horrible.

@sparklepants41 I hope your friends end up coming! Superbowl parties are always fun.

My boss has his kid here today, and his kid has strep. AWESOME. I started my period this morning and apparently have no problem saying whatever is on my mind today, so I gave boss man a piece of it. Oops. He tried to tell me that strep isn't contagious. Yeah nice try. Then he got mad that I was mad that his sick kid is here. Whatever. Everybody else is mad too.

I'm ready for the weekend. I don't have much going on tonight. Probably resting and eating something good since I'm all crampy.

I'm going to get my hair done tomorrow and then getting groceries.

Sunday is church and then a little Superbowl get together with my best friends and their husbands/kids. If the weather is bad DH is going to come home and go too. We're rooting for the Falcons since the Cowboys didn't make it. It would be cool to see a team that's so close to home win!

There's a pregnancy rash you can get...PUPPs, I think?  I'd definitely talk to your OB about it.  I'm not sure there's much that they can do to treat it.  I did use Burt's Bees belly balm when I was pregnant for my itchy belly and it worked pretty well.

Side note; I have a weird urge to do my hair soon. My hair is already some semblance of blonde {half natural, half coloured} and I'm debating lighter with some funky colour at the tips.

I don't knowwwww ..... I miss funky colours and I thought doing my undercut would help suffice that :( I may have to see what my boss says. She's pretty lenient about hair, so we'll see.

It sounds like they're all hanging in there as well.  The normal drama that comes with this stuff is coming to a head.  Her mom is worried that the sisters are going to start asking for stuff that she doesn't want to part with.  They divvied up his pottery that they wanted to keep before other family descends upon them, since they know that people are going to want pieces.  She posted his stuff on FB from time to time and he was really talented.   They're still working on service planning and whatnot.  Everyone is floating between "there's shit to get done" and "this is really happening?!"...feelings I am very familiar with.

Odd thought, but at least you're familiar with the feeling so you can help them out. I know when a friend of mine lost a family member, I was able to be there for her because I knew how it felt - despite it being different, it kind of gave her a peace of mind to know it was all normal.
Similar to how my mum related to me with the death of a parent. Same but different.

@mrsconn23, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's father.

@sparklepants41, I'm not a doctor (not even a fake internet doctor), but could it possibly be pregnancy eczema or PUPPP?  I had mild pregnancy eczema with both kids, and both times it went away after they were born.  (It was worse with DD than with DS, and both went on to develop eczema.  DD's was more severe than DS's, and I don't know if that is coincidental with the severity of my symptoms or not.)

The week-long fire drill continues here.  This morning I got a red-exclamation-point urgent email from my boss because he "couldn't access" an email that I sent him back in November.  I'm guessing it was archived (I had to go back to my archives to find it) and he doesn't know how to get to it, or he straight up deleted it.  Then I had a massive, tedious report I had to get to one of my Euro colleagues that I just sent off, so I'm popping in here for a break.  But I have stuff piling up from this morning that I didn't get to because I was dealing with these other two things.

I have lunch errands to run:  cash for the handyman who is leveling the spot for the trampoline (DH finally gave up after he hurt his back trying to do it), Target, and Ulta.  I am spending $$$ on new eyeshadow and primer, and I have zero regrets.

Tomorrow is nuts:  DH is taking Wooz to this Chocolate with Charlie event before Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ("child ticket includes– Child Ticket to the play, Wonka Vision Glasses and a Chocolate Feast!") while I take DS to swim (it's evaluation day).  Then DS and I are meeting them there after the chocolate thing but before the play so we can all see the play together.  After THAT, Wooz has her riding lesson/evaluation at the new barn.  Which means likely no swim, because that is a busy day for a 7 y.o.  I think after that, we go home and unwind.  Sunday, we're having lunch with my mom.

I'm starving. I have to seriously stop myself from eating all my lunch before class (at 11:30) because I know I'll be even hungrier after talking about the First Amendment for an hour. I need more snacks I can hide in my desk.

H is leaving for the weekend to go to his hunting camp. He's excited, but I'm bummed. We haven't had much time together lately and it'll be lonely. Also my closest new friend here is out of town too, so it will be a lonely weekend. Pitty party, table of one.

What primer are you looking at?  I've started using Too Faced Shadow Insurance and it's amazeballs.  It's about $20 for the teensy tube and worth every penny.

That just reminded me I have a massage gift certificate to use! Weekend looking up...

I can't imagine the loss of a parent, I only lost my first grandparent in 2015 and that shattered my world. Ugh, just the thought gives me anxiety. Hugs to all you ladies that have lost parents  <3

FI and I decided to challenge ourselves and quit drinking until our bach parties early April. Every now and then we do weird challenges like this. I'm kind of sad though, all morning I've been thinking that tonight I'm going to have a nice glass of wine and give myself a manicure and watch some tv. A good, relaxing evening... and now I'm going to have to do it wineless. Boo.

The office is having a Super Bowl food party.  I skipped breakfast, so I've had a Frito Pie already and it was awesome.

I'm super unmotivated today.  IDK, but rolling out of bed this morning was really difficult.  This weekend is low-key.  I really want to go see Fences at our local indie theatre, dye my hair, and then I've got a couple of meetings for costuming and Pride.  *sigh*  I want to say I hate being so busy, but I also thrive off of it.  But sometimes, I wish I could just veg on Netflix.

primer wise, if you want a good one that isn't expensive - NYX is really good.

Also @mrsconn23  I could be a terrible wonderful influence and help you decide what to buy at Sephora ;)

While talking about makeup, I recently got the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette - LOVE! - and really trying hard not to buy the Kat Von D "Pastel Goth" palette. Someone in a group I'm in just got it and the colours are just as pretty as I thought and they're not chalky *sob* it's like $51 and I can't buy yet. Maybe in spring when I got buy spring clothes I'll push some money towards that lmao
